My Kangoo (W reg 1.4 petrol) keeps cutting out and when going from high rev down to lowest engine revs.
Symptoms of issue are:
Engine is losing some oil (not from sump or seals)
When taking off the air intake/filter and looking at the accelerator cable there appears to be an electric sensor (idle control valve) on the rear of the housing (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Idle-air- ... 0731080228" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). This is held in with two torx screws. When I looked at this there was oil covering the sensor. I have cleaned it a few times and the car runs sweet again.
How would oil be ingress back onto the air intake and throttle body?

You will always get a small residual amount of oil through the air inlet into the throttle body, more so with turbocharged vehicles than normally aspirated ones though. Thats how throttle bodies get gummed up over time. If the O ring that seals the pipe to the throttle body is perished then some oil seepage is common.
