Years ago (60's maybe earlier) I'm not quite old enough to remember, a lot of cars had paper oil filter elements.

Then we went onto the nice cartridge spin on's in most cases.

And over the past few years, manufacturers have moved back to paper elements, possibly as a cost saving measure (lets not talk about the mess) , back to where we started...

If you cast your minds back to the mid 90's, you may recall the relatively rare ZX 1.9D Automatic. I believe this had the lovely fully mechanical 4 speed auto box the same as the 205 / 405 had (if someone could confirm that please?) , notice the lack of 306 D auto :(

I want to start by loosely describing the situation in Australia.

Essentially, the Gov't have said that by some date (sooner than later; can't remember exactly) we will only have digital audio broadcasting. Most stations already broadcast in parallel with the analogue signal.

However... You cannot buy a punter priced digital head unit for cars....

That's right, the Aisin boxes are meant to be pretty reliable and many independent gearbox specialists around the country are quite willing to work on AW gearboxes. Saab, Vauxhall and Volvo specialists/garages are also often happy to check out issues with Vel Satis gearboxes.

Just saw the advert for the new C4. Oh dear, what's happening at Citroen?

With the gorgeous new DS3 (I want one), the smart looking C5, and that new C3 ain't half bad either - what happened here???

A hint of the new Seat Ibiza at the front, the side profile is as exciting as the Proton Savvy and the whole thing is very un-french....

The front looks quite good, but the line along the side looks wrong in a similar way to some of the Seats, the Ibiza 5 door in particular. The back looks a bit like the new Astra. i tried installing it onto a diferent computer but i dose not accept the access code,

i think you are ment to apply for a diferent/new code every time on trying to install it,

problem is i cant find the company...

Yep. I've got a magazine spread press advert explaining it and I recall
seeing a feature on the telly/video somewhere showing the behind the
scenes with the stunt driver planning and filming it - may have been an
old series called something like Stunt drivers probably with cheesy
American voice over. Very memorable advert.

Nearly had some one just reverse into me!
Sat in a car park having my lunch and some woman nearly reversed I into Cassy while trying to get into the massive space next to my passenger side so all she had to do was look over her shoulder.
If I hadn't sounded the air horn she'd have hit me, as it was she pulled forward and then had another go at...

We get a special breed of them here, who delude themselves that autobahn rules apply; you may drive fast as you please and anyone in your way either gets highbeamed (of the car headlight variety; the other might be a nice distraction :lol: ) or tooted vigorously.

I see it as part of my mission in life to remind them of La Résistance . :twisted:

While surfing around the www I came across this opinion from a Citroen owner, which raised a laugh. :D

You got to hand it to the French....
We have a car that farts (pnuematic suspension) , pee's (air-con)
warms your bum (heated seats) and gives it a massage (Lane departure warning).
You can talk to it and it responds.

Hi, anybody help? The citroenflatfour forum site seems to be unavailable, last week it was loaded with lots of foreign junk, and now it seems to be unavailable on the net. Being computer ignorant I cannot get any further. Anyone any ideas?

what? are you 'avin a go at me sunshine? nowt wrong with my old ford Onion, it was basic but super reliable as was my 2.0 ltr sierra although the same couldn't be said for my AMERICAN Ford Escort, that damn thing broke it's self without me driving it! (........ long and expensive stories.......)

Due to recent events I needed something to laugh about, this happened yesterday when I got the renewal through for the XM SED - currently off the road with the engine in the garage, shed, coal hole, etc. I've been driving 22 years so shouldn't be considered young and daft, no points, no accidents against me. Anyhow it's insured through a broker on...

I really hope that once the XM is back in one piece and I come to insure it, it will be far more reasonable than the silly quote I had. Once the XMs back on the road the A Class will be off road for new clutch, a grind & paint of the rear wheelarch lips and a poke around the heater booster. I might just have...

I allege this to be French car related, as it affects my database of pictures, and collected emails. :lol:

My everyday computer has almost rogered the graphics card (Nvidia) due to its miniature cooling fan dying. So, no display until a new fan arrives. I've temporarily switched to the Lexia laptop just to keep things moving - however a couple...
