Worth Asking (non-French car Q)

Post by addo »

Would anyone have a twin SU setup from an early Spitfire or Herald 1296/1300 motor, complete and (realistically) not in line to be used?

I need the fanimold, carbs and linkage at a sane price. (Yes, there is a modded '64 Spitfire in the shed...)

While we're at it, barely-legal 13" tyres like DOT approved semi-slicks - anyone have experience here, maybe from racing an Esky or Dolomite Sprint?

Cheers, Adam.

Adam, there is (was?) a second hand triumph parts place about 1 mile from where I now live..

Wynns I think they were called.. no idea if they are still there.. pretty sure the market for old spit and herald bits must have died now

I used to use them when I had a Bond Equipe GT4 !

I will have a look if I get a min..

Would be interesting to at least know your wrecker's mood on older stuff (as in, where their heads may be found).

I just found a mostly complete manifold/carby set on Fleabay; currently at 5½ squid with most of the week left - UK buyers only (hint!). It's the cast alloy manifold with offset dish thingy on top; later 1500 motor manifolds had the preheater or whatever it is, centred.

Can't let you get too attached to that empty floor space once the big parcel has gone off.

I remember that name; they've been around forever.

Here's the Fleabay prospect:

Have 45DCOEs on at present, however bore wear plus lumpy cam makes these too hard to start and completely untractable when cold.

ETA: Definitely not interested in an XM.
