I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

I've returned from holiday today to find an email from Harry's wife Stephanie informing me that Harry unfortunately passed away last month.

It came as news to me that Harry had been fighting cancer for over 10 years....

You see about 15 years ago I had a job lot of Turtle Wax polish and I've been slowly, about 4 times a year working my way through it. Agree with the megs but as a quickie I love Turtlewax wet & black. So easy if you are in a rush & lasts a while too.

Is that the stuff in the clear spray bottle?

I used to use that before the Meguiars, very good but it does get on the wheels and sticks the brake dust.

Just a rant..I love Battlesbridge car show but saw I could not enter the 205gti as it was pre 80's only allowed so parked in public car park only to go into the show & see 20 cars all post 80's Even an Aston Martin DB9. Rang the oirganisers this morning to ask about it & they stated some people book one car but turn up in a different newer one...

Did anyone see South Beach Classics on Quest (Freeview channel 38) last night ?

Amongst other things they had a white Peugeot cabrio (a RHD in America, probably a bit rare in itself?) although I missed nearly all that part. I think it was a 304 but I'm not sure.

The supplied freeview box (we have one) is not brilliant. They are not free though ours was £40. One redeeming feature is its remote can be programmed to operate the tv too, Sky remote style in effect.

Regarding updates settings it has none, its a simple model. To compound matters the EPG time is an hour out since the clocks changed in March...

its the Eloy fluid the collects the particulates and traps them in the filter in the exhaust system,

Some of that tale is true Malcolm, the Eolys tank can be refilled with diesel to fool the ECU into thinking that it's full, but IIRC the purpose of Eolys fluid is not to trap the particulates (the particulates filter does that) but to burn off the collected particulates by significantly raising the exhaust temperature when it's injected. Just sat here after falling over from viewing my renew premium for the 106.

As far as I can tell (bear in mind I changed cars mid-year) the premium has increased by about 15% to 20% give or take a bit which is a substantial chunk of money.

Perhaps its just me.

These days there seem to be some kind of charm with base model older vehicles, I'm kind of thinking of say a 3door 205D (something like a 'Junior' or 'XL') or perhaps a base model AX. No power mirrors / windows / locks etc, perhaps just power steering but nothing more.

The lack of electronics and complexity seem to shine...

Were these used on other than the Peugeot 605? The cross blades are not like a Xantia key, and are slightly offset to each other.

As far as I know its 605 only, unless they are the same as earlier Citroen keys but I've not seen one.

They don't suffer from the turning but not doing anything problem some of the later designs (806 / Expert van etc) do though very often.

That's been standard practice for several years by many if not most manufacturers Malcolm, Diagbox is the name of the software that's replaced Lexia, I believe you can still operate Diagbox without connecting to the manufacturer it just means you won't get the latest software updates.

Fixed the very annoying key issue today. Basically the key in the drivers door would operate the central locking and unlock all the doors (no problem there) but would never (perhaps once in a hundred) lock the other doors.

I've taken on a very very very late s1 V6 (on a V plate) which shows 140k and has a gorgeous gearbox, interior etc etc
yet it was destined to be weighed in as it's failed the CO emissions on the MOT. It had LPG fitted to it but it wouldn't
run on gas as there was electrical issues with the installation - this has now been removed and there are...

Get it on a Lexia and check the MAP sensor and oxygen sensor. Don't randomly do things until you have been Lexia'd.

If it's idling high you have manifold air leaks.. Fix them.

The kitten may prevent a pass. You may have to get a proper one on there for the MOT. Those kittens are not up to the job.

Get the gas working. It'll then be tested as a...

As I drove into the car park I pulled just behind a gorgeous blue XM. The Reg No was XM1.
I used to have one myself and I just loved the car.
Anyway, I went into the NEC, did my business in there and some hours later came out to go home. As I walked to the car, the XM owner was just in front...

Having had a private plate in the past, I found out that you are unable to put a plate on a car that makes it look newer than it actually is, and unless they sold XM's on an X plate then it shouldn't be possible to put XM1 on it.

XM1 is just that, a random series of digits so not age related so could fit
on the oldest to the very newest...

This is the sh*t. I reckon HDI may even agree with me! Outperforms every other copper grease in thermal resistance to slump and degradation while having all the usual copperslip lubing qualities for head bolt undersides and threads, sliding brake parts; I would even recommend it between trailing arm and caliper.

I haven't significantly modified any of my cars, just replaced the fuel pipe to a larger diameter and made it shorter and without so many interconnects (to help it reduce air ingress and to use veg oil more easily. But even this...

I find it all quite funny really, when I took the XM in for an MOT I had to show him where the parking brake release was and with the Prius he said 'I can't emissions test this' because the Prius shutdown the engine and just sat there. Both passed fine.

I wasn't going to tell him how to get the engine to run on the Prius, it saved 5 minutes or...

Im going to be towing a trailer with some stuff for the tip. But my licence is from 2008. Not before 1997.
What happerns if i getpulled over or somthing daft like that.
I drove the traillor with the xantia round the block. Today but its my first time of towing on a propper road tomo
It felt al right i didnt evern notice it on the xantia.

Heated rear window, refixing the terminal to the element.

Hello,

Does anyone have any idea of how I can fix the terminal back on to the heated rear window element (when I say terminal I'm referring to the bit the feed connets to).

I was thinking along the lines of a conductive adhesive, but I can't seem to find any.

i dont think your meant to use it for longinsh section of missing tracks, also when repairing track you must not apply it to think as it can alter the resistance and shatter the screen,

it used to work a treat on the terminals though,
supper glue the terminal to the glass then paint across the terminal and onto the surrounding track

does anyone know why an M reg 2.4 petrol Previa randomly revs up,
first though without looking at it would be aux air supply/choking device trowing a wobbly,
if so or what ever you think were would i find it

Richard phoned me this morning to ask if i could finish the welding on his ZX for the MOT,
as the farmer who he rents his unit from called him around 10.30 last night to tell him the farm building were burnt down,

this after noon he called me back to say dont bother as the ZX which was outside went up with the contents of his unit
im sure he will...

I may very soon have the need to transport an unroadworthy car about 200 miles in the UK. Does anyone have any ideas on the best way to do this cheaply and safely? Bear in mind Mike, a car HAS to be legal for a plate transfer of any type, thats MOT tax and insurance... So in reality, the plate is stuck on the car due to the amount of welding needed.. :shock:

Now i know GSF have been given a bit of stick lately for their website and i will be the first to admit its still not great, when typing in the Activa's reg number it gives me a whole raft of parts it says are compatable that clearly are not and their sphere position discriptions are a little lacking, for instance stating the accumulator position...
