Berlingo Crew Cab Pick-Up?

Post by DickieG »

I've just noticed this rather strange beast on eBay, an extended wheelbase Berlingo Crew Cab Pick-Up, anyone heard/know anything about these?

Looks like one for you Chris

That is a very strange looking thing, I have never seen anything like that

Quite surprised that it is RHD, it looks a proper conversion too, with that long rear bumper. The advert says its a long wheel base, the wheelbase looks standard berlingo to me, just with a massive rear overhange, it would have worked better if it was a LWB!

That just looks like a Berlingo Multispace MK1 that's been chopped. I'd love to see what's under that checkerplate in the load area. Sadly he's covered up the reg plate so we can't check what it's actually registered as.

thats some rear end overhang!!
trouble is with a pick up area like that its not really That useable! you wont be able to get that much in there size wise, or weight wise without attempting a wheelie!! :-D
looks like its not had the easiest of lives despite the front end damage either, couple hundred quid worth a punt maybe, but that money???
wonder if a google will shed some light on it????

Looking at it again, I doubt you'd get as much in the loading bay as you would in a standard Berlingo van or Multispace with the seats down. Googling for Berlingo crew cab or any variation of it simply bring up that auction. My guess is that it's a conversion of some sort, definitely not a factory job. The rear window is clearly a Multispace rear door - it still has the high-level brake light in it. Cut'n'shut tastic!

I always wondered what you would put on a pick-up in England. It must be completely water resistant and you must be totally lackadaisical to the fact that it's going to be nicked within milliseconds. Nothing comes to mind, really.

However, I strangely like this quirky contraption.

Trying to come up with something I could put on the load bed...

Cement bags - nope
Surfboards - nope

Got it: Old car tyres!

From an Avid cyclists point of view, - Offroad riding, a mountain bike Doesn't Fit in the back of a 'fashion pick up' like the mitsi animal, nissan navara etc., you end up with bits of it hanging out!
Not even that many builders use them as the load size is so small!!
Mind you, Kevin McCloud?? -grand designs, drives an old Pug 505 style pick up!! 2 seats, Massive load area!

That SM pick-up looks much nicer than the original design, the rear end of an SM looks like a complete mess.

I quite agree. As a 'ute the SM works well :) Actually I think it looks incredibly good 8-)

I bet it goes down like a lead balloon with the more orthodox SM aficionados though

The only SM owner I really know at all, runs an establishment where gentlemen make other gentlemen very happy. I'm not sure if he is an "orthodox" SM owner or not, then. You certainly need a taste for fiscal masochism.

I love that. It's far more tasteful than the original SM, which IMO is a complete dogs dinner.
