I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Ok, here's the next odd thing, the battery is under the drivers seat on this car, and if i connect up a jump start pack to the positive connection point under the bonnet, it starts and runs fine, the alternator is putting out nearly 15 volts and everything if fine until i disconnect the starter pack, it then starts to misfire slightly and the ECU...

Our Scenic 1 also suffers from internal flooding so I though I'd get around cleaning the internal drains under the wiper motors today. Tried to access and remove the wiper arms to remove the large plastic trim.

I was trying to service my step daughters 1.2 16v clio, I have got stuck on 2 of the spark plugs i want to change, The plugs are in tubes and 2 seem to have part of an old lead stuck on them which stops the plug tool going on them. Has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas how i can get the plugs out?

Maybe a faulty diode pack on alternator..
It can overheat and damage battery.

Double check and make sure your multimeter is good. I think alternator should read 14.4 volt across battery terminals with engine running.

Anyone know how to release the centre console from a 2010 Kangoo. I've found two nuts at the front but it has a fixing of some kind at the back which I can't find how to get to. I'm wondering if it's bolted on from below which means getting under the car to find out, which I don't really want to do if I can release it from inside the cab.

Hi, front windows were flaky for a while after water ingress through the scuttle then stopped. Briefly came back to life then died completely, then the rears stopped.

Anyone heard of this before? I was thinking UCH but could the drivers switch also cause this or another electrical fault somewhere?

UCH replacememt maybe 250 so not too bad given...

If battery was slightly under spec I don't think it would cause troubles.
Well under spec may do so though.
I would check the alternator is giving good charge with meter. If ok then look for fuse and bad earth connections. Wiring diagram would be handy. If no joy then it may help to put on a Clip diagnostic tool for possible pointers.

The horn is located behind the bumper on the passenger side low down. You can get access to it by pulling the front part of the wheel arch liner back. Try unbolting it from the body work, cleaning it up with WD40 and refitting. Likely it's a bad earth as that area is prone to salt and road spray.

Heater Blower only working intermittently

Hi, I have a 2004 Clio. (With air con)

The blower (whether hot or cold, makes no diff) only works sometimes. Doesn't matter if it's set on auto or manual.
Can be driving along and suddenly it just comes on but usually its not working.

Would the problem be the heater resistor, heater motor or something else?

i got new new key cards from Renault, needed to be reprogrammed .called Renault dealer , they came with wrong tools obd 1 instead of obd 2.

I think I have a crack in my manifold, pretty sure infact, and the toxic fumes light has been on for about a week. I'm trying to help a mate with his non-starting Kangoo. I'm fairly confident it's the gearbox earth as it starts when bypassed with a jump lead. I've cleaned up the gearbox end, but I can't easily see where it attaches to the bodywork at the other end. Does anyone know, and what's the best way of getting access to it?

Sorry Lexi, I forgot about this thread. I can see the earth wire bolts directly to the gearbox and apparently it bolts somewhere to the chassis. I think I'm just going to have to take the battery tray and all the other gubbins out so I can see better.

Any idea where coolant bleed screw is? Before or at the heater matrix I understand. Want to get coolant changed.....now. The overflow bottle is high .........much higher than rad. I don't see how the matrix can be higher? These 3.5 can be tricky to bleed so I would rather find that screw and crack it.

1.9 dci tempramentall turbo

Hi guys hoping someone can help the turbo on my 06 1.9 dci has started to play up at first it just stopped working alltogether and the fault diagnosis scanner said turbo preassure sensor fault this did initially fix problem but only lasted about a day. Now the turbo doesnt work first thing unless i rev it right up to red line then it only covers...

Well thats it the cat has gone now i was on my way in to work and it and it conked so AA came droped me off at work soaked to the bone and dropped the car off at home for me.

Noticed something this morning when putting a new EGR in! The back of the engine, including the old EGR and the surrounding are was soaked with oil, also there was oil sprayed up the bulkhead as if it had been sprayed out under presure!

So am I right in thinking that the only oil pipe down there is connected to the turbo????

If its really that bad it needs checking out. Be sure to remove and clean the oil drain pipe from the turbo, if this is blocked the turbos on borrowed time. I can't see the connection between high speed high boost that isn't there at low speed high boost engine wise.

Laguna dci really bad mpg+'Check Injector' fault

I have a 2005 Laguna 1.9 dci with 53k on the clock, and according to its fuel computer is doing 29-31 mpg which is pretty crap. I have had the car about a week and the first thing i did was clean the EGR, unless its knackered. The other issue id that for no reason 'Check Injector' flashes up, the car looses power, then goes back to normal a few...

Get it on a Renault Clip, check the codes and parameters otherwise you could be chasing this for a long time.

hi all i have just bought a 55 reg grand scenic and the parking brake dosent work at all what could the problem be?
is it something i could fix or is it an expensive repair

if the yellow handle has been pulled would that stop the hand brake coming on until it has been reset?
and yes you can put second hand part on as long as you get the right one
ie: automatic for auto and manual for clutch, it only needs programming for a virgin unit

Espace et al steering lock gremlin

Hi guys
This is my first technical post (after my introduction. :) ).

Last night I go into my 53 Espace, put in the card, pressed the button.... and nothing happened, STEERING IS LOCKED MOVE WHEEL or somesuch came up.

I twisted the wheel which was not locked, although you can only move it a 1/2 turn or so either way with the engine off.
I tried...

Megane DCi electrical problems

I have a 2005 Renault Megane DCi which has been fine for the last 2 years but now (and just as I am thinking of changing) the car seems to have developed a number of electric problem that are intermittant.

I have come out to the car twice in the last week in the morning to the windows being down and now it has decided it wont lock any longer...

My brother's 1.5DCi estate failed its MOT as the rear number plate lights didn't work. QuikFit (!) changed the bulbs but made no difference. I checked and there was no voltage to the lamps. He took it to a Renault deaker who found (for £85 +VAT) that 4 wires had broken in the loom! Now how did that happen - since last year???

Exhaust maintenance - et al

Hi guys

a small problem has arisen, all under control but worth noting.

I thought the exhaust was blowing a bit, getting under the Espace was tricky, I could see the pipe was loose, so I took it to my main dealer to fit

The collar between the exhaust and the downpipe was £15, but the fancy supports which have also gone are £87.43.

Worse still...

Vel Satis bleed screw

Any ideas where the coolant bleed screw on heater matrix can be reached?
It could be a similar position to other MPV'S with the tight bulkhead/engine configuration.

Just hoping it ain't scuttle panel off. Maybe reach from up and under the car? Just wanting to change coolant.
