scenic Heater blower

Unread post by Synergietom »

Hi guys the heater blower on my 2006 grand scenic has just packed up it was working fine on low but when i turned it up it just stoped all together ive checked the fuse ( What a pain to get at ) and all seems fine is it likely that the motor has gone or could be it be something else and is there a cheep fix because with two babies on the way i need the heater working now that the cold weather is coming in.
Thanks
tom

just to update i pulled onto my drive after work and the second my back wheels touched the driveway the blower kicked in so i dont think its the motor allthough it may be a loose wire doese anyone know if its possible for leaves etc to get in there and if so would this restrict the blower from working?

hi , the problem is behind the instrement panel, its the resistor and conector it burns out, its a very common problem, renault have a modification to fix this problem, its a new loom with conector which has to be solderd in and a new resistor, if you prize off the top instrement panel suround then the bottom plastic surround , put your right hand through the gap on the right hand side of the panel you will feel a wiring loom going into the heater box, give this a shake ! then try the motor it will prob start working, but not for long though, this is the part that needs cutting out and replacing as well as the resistor that it plugs into, hope this helps,

Thanks for the reply Antz ill bear this in mind allthough to be fair ive not had a problem with it since it started working again so when i get chance ill pull the front scuttle off and make sure there are no unwanted leaves etc in there as my driveway has a dirty great tree overhanging from next door.
Do you know if renaults fix is a free one under recall or will i have to pay for it

as far as i know you have to pay, but you can call renault customer services and complain becouse this is a design fault they may pay a contribution.

Reno quoted me £120. For a resistor and a cable!
Found the resistor pack plus loom and connector for under £50 here
