Clio Airbag

I am having problems with the airbag being on, Its a 2001 Clio, I have read about the plugs underneath the seat being a problem so i cut and soldered together the wires ( i think the correct ones) but the light is still on, It needes to be mot ed and isnt road legal at the moment so i cant take it anywhere to be checked, Has anyone got any other common fixes.
When i start the car the light comes on and stays off for a couple of seconds then comes back on.

First turn the air bag key switch in the n/s door on & off. Next take the n/s door switch out & clean the contacts with contact spray. It worked for me!

Well you have helped fix the car Thanks, The car was bought as a project and the passenger door panel was missing including all its switches, I dont understand people chucking important parts of the car away !!
I went down the scrap yard and got a door panel,switches and window regulators, All fitted and the light is out thanks very much !!!

Only job now is to get the window on the passenger side to go back up now i have fitted the regulator the window goes down but not up ?
