Hi, just want some advice for a family Friend.
My friend is a single Mum with 2 kids, currently drives an S plate Focus and does mobile hairdressing (needs a car for work).
She has been offered a 06 plate Scenic for £800 with new tyres, 12 months ticket and a recent new clutch. I know you would need more details for a true 'evaluation' but are these cars a good deal?
My Father in Law had a 52 plate Laguna and that was always quite costly if it went wrong (in parts especially) and being a single parent in todays world she would like to avoid the potentially big bills.
I am of the opinion she should keep her Focus, but the garage told her that it's clutch was 'on it's way'.
Any real world input would be appreciated!

Re: 06 plate scenic
I'd say she needs something reliable so go for a Toyota or Honda. Unless she's good with diagnostics and spanners stay away from the Scenic and probably anything European. All French cars wiring is iffy as time goes by but Scenics also suffer from - failed UPCs, parking brake ECUs/actuators, steering locks, Stereos, window mechanisms etc, etc. Nice to drive and practical until they go wrong.

Re: 06 plate scenic
Thanks, this was my thoughts. I had told her no but I think she has been lured in by the offer of a cheap car that is fairly new (by her standards).
I keep saying get the clutch fixed and run the focus until it's scrap, save herself £800
