Anyone heard anything of XAC lately?

Hi, (cheekily) I have a project I'd like you to help me with. I would like to have the use of an air compressor but cannot justify the purchase of one and have no electricity nearby other than the 12v in my battery and a solar trickle charger  I was thinking a spare tyre can act as the pressurised air source (which I can replenish with my 12v...

What a joke (sarc) this is proving to be.

Traffic police use an Automatic Number Plate Recognition system that cries foul if no insurance record is found which is becoming an irritant to many legal drivers. I have even heard stories of women with children being forced to leave their cars where they're stopped and find alternative transport home...

I have in, my hand, an MOT failure notice that is boldly emblazoned **DANGEROUS** and in the box marked C it clearly states, Warning: In my opinion, the vehicle is dangerous to drive because of defects marked as such on the failure and/or advisory documents (The emphasis is mine).

The reason it's dangerous to drive ?.........

I just went to my Activa to get something out of it and found a card under the wiper blade from an outfit offering to take scrap cars away

Not only was the Activa targetted for the cards but my 2.1TD and Dad's 205 as well :x

Now the Activa looks in a bit of a mess at the moment, covered in bird droppings and...

Hi,

My 405 Sti is missing an electric seat motor off the passenger side ( the one that makes it go back/forward ), I used to have some 406 electric seats, but the motors on them were physically bigger.

Anyone know if the Xantia electric seat motors are the same as the 405 motors ?

( or the xm, 806 or 605 etc.. )

Cheers
Mat.

Gave my sisters 306 1.9 n/a diesel a service today. All went well. Not been starting too good for a while when cold,so she got some glowplugs too(ecp).Access to 2 on right was ok,the pump plug a bit of a pain as the 1 next to it.As i recall there is a lot more room behind the pump than my Xantia had.Any way,1 snaped undoing the wire retaining...

...16 spam registration attempts to the FCF have been trapped since the new MOD to the forum went live on Thursday evening. So far, only one bogus registration has got through (now deleted) using the default question, which has now been changed. Two genuine members have successfully registered through the new system.

Essentially, the MOD asks...

just thought i would share a result with everyone back in oct07 i was having severe problems with my bx with regard to fuel starvation and constant stalling and to cap it all the wifey blew the head gasket on the pug 405 having rung me to say what does this light mean? to which i replied STOP  so for a couple of days we ended up without a car...

Hi.. I apologise if this point has been brought up before, but while chatting to the salesman at the Dealers I was surprised to find out that some of the base models of the new C5 are fitted with conventional rather than wet suspension. (They had one of these beasts in stock so I could check for myself).
I know that steel suspension technology...

Dark blue Xantia bearing the reg A11 VSX

I wonder what model of Xantia...?

Inputting my VIN I get my Xantia listed with a discrepancy or two. According to DVLA and the V5, it was registered 18-08-1998 (R reg) but Citroen say Model Year is 1999. Maybe they count overlapping years a bit like a taxman might?

They also describe the Vehicle Family as Xantia R. What's the R all about?

Additionally, it says Lighting timer...

I've identified a Cartier relay 02009 as the fuel pump relay? Haynes lists the fuel pump relay as item 1200 though I can't see it anywhere on their diagrams. It has terminals numbered 1-5 with 1 & 2 being 12V +ve & -ve while 3, 4 and 5 are unlabelled. Can anyone enlighten me as to what I do have and what the pinouts are? Thank you. :)

My apologies for the outage this evening..

Pipex failed this evening  Everyone I know locally on Pipex were affected.

Hopefully, it's back for good now...

Just saw this on my favourite team's site:

I've seen it on the car park a few times. I think it's a Furio (1.8i) and therefore reasonably rare. Why do people always assume that a brand new car is the answer to their motoring problems? If that's the worst car in Oldham, I'm a Yorkshireman! :?

The stereo in my digger is playing up.Can only recieve M.Wave now,no F.M.10 hrs of rubbish chat & crackle is doing my head in :x .Having some problems getting my c.d stereo in,24v to 12v & depth of unit etc so i rang the dealer to see if they could help me.The stereo is a fm/am tuner, digital display,6 presets & 1 billy big nob for the volume &...

It's a bit of a long one so those on dialup may want to avoid it.

Enjoy. 8)

Here's a song about the modern Aussie teenager.

Tesco up to a pount a litre now :(

Ideally we may still but it when diesels ten pence more than that but very annoying either way.

Corn oil is now the cheaperst they do.

I just filled up in aldi, 78p a litre still... but for how long??

Those 15litre barrels seem like a good deal now!

Does anyone know how I can find the auxillary belt on service.citroen? I've explored most diagrams and searched common names but failed miserably.

Hello there, my names Leigh and I'm a final year student at Nottingham Trent university. I'm currently undertaking the research for my dissertation which is based on the differing marekting strategies of car manufacturers. I would really appreciate it if you could fill out a questionnaire for me, shouldn't take any more than 3 minutes and is 100%...

Would it be ok to bend the rules? (Jim  ) I'm not saying this engine is non-french (not saying it isn't either 8) ) but I'm looking for hints and tips on tracing an emissions failure as per the UK MOT.

It's a 134Kmiles fuel-injected 2.0 petrol engine with EFI management and it failed on too high CO content. Both MOT testers immediately...

Q. Where is the xantia hatchback boot light switch located?

I normally back up the FCF and BXC databases around 21:45 every evening, in the belief that a snapshot would be taken and forum performance would not be affected during this operation which takes about 10 or so minutes per forum.

I was wrong. This evening I was posting whilst the backup was in progress and I noted when I went to submit my post,...

Ok slightly silly question time – how do you change a facelift Xsara front side light bulb? Seen the earlier comments about removing the bumper so you can get the headlight unit off – surely not. I can get hold of the bulb holder after removing the rubber cover at the back of the headlight unit but don’t seem to be able to shift it. Is it a push...

Ours get real serious about it:

Sad really innit?

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about a 94 ZX Volcane 1.9TD? Experience most welcome, but hearsay acceptable too

Just popped up the webcam at the entrance to Nurburgring.
I know you guys reckon it's been a bit cold, but brother for this time of year I'd imagine this would have to be a bit radical.

To show how mad it all is, South Australia and Victoria were copping a heatwave mid - late 30's to early 40's last week.
Got to wonder which is worst.

I found this today

The article isn't particularly new (June 2006) but the technology is interesting and fairly clever (the turbo in particular).

How integrated are the two turbos, i.e. is it one shaft or two?

Is this not news to anybody?

hi all, I guess this is a slightly lost art, but do you know somewhere that will repair my core?

South East ideally to save postage costs...

I have tried yell .co.uk but couldnt see a great deal..

many thanks
John

Since the new Database Server has been in operation, I've noticed a few short-duration outages on the ADSL link between the Web Server and the Database Server.

I apologise for the inconvenience this is causing and I'm investigating. At the moment I'm not sure if the modem or my ISP is at fault. Shortly, I'll be replacing the modem as a precaution...

Allo fella's.
Nice to see the forum back up.

I'm after some info on PSA diesel engines.
I know/played with the 1.9TD's but not the others.

So 1.9TD, 2.1TD, 2.5TD. What would you say is the best engine?
Are they a similar size (physically)
What sort of power/tourqe does each make?
What is each like to tune? (I know the 1.9TD can be played with,...

Are fitted with the 1.9TD engines?

Also, does the 2.1TD come with a bosch pump and if so, what cars are these fitted to?

This was posted in our sister forum, the BX Club...

Watch and enjoy!

I've been trying to find a site that described the hydraulic drivetrain that Citroen were about to produce but have so far drawn a blank.
I would be most appreciative if anyone can point me in the right direction as I have introduced this onto another forum and now need to put my money where my mouth is.
Incidentaly, UPS are now using delivery...

I've just had my car fail it's MOT this year due to a couple of holes in the sills, thankfully fairly small and easy to weld. When I took it to the garage to get the welds done I noticed a section of exhaust just before the silencer is missing, about the length of a bean tin.

They guy didn't pick this up on the MOT, is he likely to have only done...

There have been a few requests for suppliers of Citroen spares.
Quite a few have been offered, GSF being the prominent one.

Also a few breakers.

Looks nice, apart from that I knows nuuuuthin'.

I'm so impressed with this diesel engine that I want to identify which cars are powered by the same lump. I'm thinking something a little lighter and smaller, preferably with hydraulic suspension and similar comfort levels like A/C.

If you know for certain, please add the make, model and other identifying data such as badges. Thanks in advance.

This is an actual bonus question given on a University of Washington
chemistry mid-term exam. The answer by one student was
so profound that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the
Internet. That is why we can now enjoy it as well.

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic
(absorbs heat)?

apologies if posted before ..... i was just browsing the web looking for a new rear height corrector and i just discovered GSF now have an e bay presence.....useful as you can buy the parts using paypal

I cant find the supplier link i got the other day for a biodiesel stockist, who delivered nationally for free in large 250 litre drums
It worked out about 74p a litre, a friend at works interested in my new bio ways and wants some for his 206 hdi

Can anyone think who it may be?

The dash doesn't look right for a Xantia so it may all be trickery using
Photoshop although I can't really see why anyone would go to the bother
unless it's part of an elaborate hoax/scam or something...

Nice if it does exist!

chaps, what can cause an internal carb fire ? mine has a melted float, and worse, melted areas around the jets... it's a V8 4-barrel single carb...

the only ignition is the plugs... I guess arcing at the distributor cap, or between leads in the most likely.. (in which case this problem would be prevalent on all older cars with carbs?)

A seller tells me they have an N reg xantia 1.9TD with a split hydraulic hose to which I queried and they replied nor sure where the hose starts or ends but it runs along the front of the engine/behind the rad Helpful eh? I also asked what symptoms it causes but that question appears to have been overlooked as was the one about the fuel pump make...

Does anyone know if -- how -- I can replace my C drive without reformatting my existing one?

Basically I need a bigger-faster drive as my C Drive, the one I have is old, slow, and 76% full.. It is a 20 gig.. But only runs at 25 (whatever) compared to speeds of D = 52 G = 55 (info obtained from running PC-Pitstop) but as it's the main drive it...

I'm fit to explode in sheer anger and frustration with it!!

I've been struggling with it for ages to the point where I REALLY REALLY
can't bear to try logging on or bothering with the 'new improved' version
of the forum...

IF IT'S NOT EASY TO USE, GUESS WHAT - NOBODY USES IT!
