Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Well sort of. The 'ticky-tack' aka tachometric / double relay. I remember the ones on the 505 (or 605?) were on the column, for 'testing' you'd just go straight down the middle set of pins to bypass it ( ! )

Why are these fitted to some mechanical diesel units ? :-k

I can see that it would be useful with a petrol or HDi unit to cut the in-tank...

Andy wondered what chemicals were recommended with cleaning the nasty mess out of inlet manifolds caused by EGR valves.

Apart from a stiff brush (a toilet brush (new!) works well) however to loosen initially it seems difficult.

I have had a leaflet drop through my door advertising this new product which claims to decoke your engine as well as cleaning all internal sensors, DPF, Cat, EGR valve etc...
Good looking product - bold claims - but does it work!!

The searches I have seen have mixed reviews but mostly positive.

I'm BACK! (Poor you!)

After looking for a C5 II for a month and not really finding one that suited me I have now ended up with a Peugeot 407. Looking forward to having a play with it later as I've not had time yet. Hi all,

I'm sure this will have been asked before but a search didn't get menthe answer i wanted.

How well do the HDi engines do on biofuels?

I'm getting another oil burner soon and would like to make running them as cheap as I can. I'm willing to buy bio fuel but I'm more interested in a diy set up if it's usable and financially viable.

If you mean straight veg oil then no chance.

If you mean well made and cleaned biodiesel then it should be fine.

Swap the fuel filter after the first tank and then after 3 more tanks or less as it will clean the system out, so maybe check the intank pump filter as well.

Add some 2stroke oil every few tanks as it helps to keep seals and bits...

My old Xantia S2 TD has done 2 miles from last April till now. I have got the MOT booked for 1st May. I have just had a shock when buying an accumulator sphere- now £31 from GSF--they were £19 last time i got one. I have been used to a bus pass, so not bothered with the car. After years of having my car serviced at the dealers, in the last few years I have found myself with 4 cars to look after, so have gone back to doing it myself. Lately I always seem to have a problem getting the filter off. With daughter no.1's Clio Mk2 Ph1, I bought a chain wrench, which would not fit between the filter & the subframe! Got it off...

Just like cars built before 1973, from April 1 2014 a vehicle manufactured before 1 January 1974 will be exempt from paying VED. That means, come 2014, you don't have to pay road tax on cars that were built through '73, so there's a new wave of classics that avoid the unfortunate task of handing over up to £1065 in annual taxes. =D>

This forum, and club-XM are really very nice places to be. I've been around some other car forums looking for advice, and quite frankly, those forums are full of knobs.

Is the 03 C5 2.0hdi multiplex wiring....would the ecu, bsi, transponder ect fit on an 01 306 2.0hdi (same engine but might be diffirent wiring ie 306 might not be m/p'd)...just thought I'd ask

Or, how not to clearance the oil splash baffle on your TU3 motor by bending it down instead of up. :roll: Every blooming tappet screw was rapping against the underside of the baffle when it was all assembled together.

Lesson learnt - bend it upwards and all is good! :oops:

Being totally fed up of crappy big brand beers, I've been sampling a few different breeds recently (between bouts of boxs of decent reds)I've tried Chinese, Polish (from Poland, not furniture polish) Japanese, Italian, South African and most places in between.
Tonights rare and delectable sample came from Marks and Spensers, Brewed at the Meantime...

a late silver Astra had been up my back bumper for a couple of minutes so i was driving at a reduced speed, as we got to the Battle rd junction with Old Harrow rd the Astra stopped to turn right into Old Harrow...

While having a bit of a tidy up earlier, I thought I'd have a 'look back' at hard drives, one from each decade really I suppose. What we have in the following slightly blurry pics:

A netbook drive, 320GB from 2012

A standard IDE drive, 120GB from 2003

A SASI (I think) precursor to SCSI) drive from around 1984 (not too sure on the year) with...

This is an interesting video track test of the VTS, they get a slower acceleration time than many contemporary road testers (who tended to beat the Citroen official figures) but the handling test looks really fun.

Is there any way I can plug in a set of Saxo instruments into my 106 (they actually plug in and function apart from the speedometer as best as I can tell but I know that is a one wire change in most cases) and adjust the mileage with my Lexia ?

I could not see anything in PP to do this although I'm only asking to save expense of a visit elsewhere...
