Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Tried Farcela G3 (manually applied_ T-cut, Autoglym cutting and resin polish. All seem to just gloss up the reddishy pink colour.

Called out to a Pug that wouldn't go after the battery went flat. BSI had lost the plot. Reconfigured, key relearned, said to the customer It should go now - and it did!!! 40 minutes all in; I absolutely loved how it started first time just when I predicted.

Seems that so often there's one sneaky parameter you overlook, or the car has dropped...

My friends have just had their Ford Escort stolen. It's a white hatchback, very retro with reg no F719 SMK. Mark 3?

They are quite a rare sight On the road now and so should be easy to spot. they are keen to know if it's spotted anywhere. They live in Exeter and was stolen this afternoon. I and they would be very grateful if it's spotted...

i had to remove a set of these from a customers car, the car is a 54 plate 307 with OE locking nut, my customer bought the car about a year ago,
she bought it to me to service and MOT it,
i went to remove the wheels to discover no wheel nut tool to be found anywhere,

spoke to my customer who didnt even know what a locking wheel nut socket...

I was lucky, got them off the C5 no problem, and they wont be going on again. Whoever had done all the brakes not too long before I bought it had tightened the wheelnuts to correct torque by the feel of taking them off, and had only put the lockers on tight but no more. Makes a change, but ties in with the last owner saying he maintained it...

Vauxhall Meriva came in for service and mot and reports that the oil pressure light comes on in traffic and engine really noisy.

Turns out the owner had not serviced the car for years and 36000 miles. The chain is loose, looks like the tensioner has failed.

This is the first time since about 1995 that I haven't owned a Citroen.. If they did a C6 in an estate I might be tempted but at the moment it looks like a Merc E Class estate instead.

Three and a half hours' work to this stage (carpets full of antifreeze and spilled coffee). Will reassemble over next weekend.

Can't figure out how to split the evaporator housing - must be hidden screws somewhere.

My son is about to buy a Porsche Cayenne V8 turbo and wants an inspection done at the vendors in Ongar, Essex. The AA don't do Porsche and the Porsche specialist doesn't do Cayenne!!

Last time I had the 605 on the hoist, I noticed an odd localised outbreak of aggressive rust under the rear seat area, left side.

I've had the back seat out recently to clean and feed the leather intensively (used Leatherique; oil good, cleaner so-so) and during a cleanup of the underseat areas started to join the dots... The boot carpet had odd...

I'm looking at buying a 207 alloy wheel that is in Farnborough after one of Cheryl's became oval after she hit a pot hole a few months back.

Unfortunately the guy is adamant that he won't courier it as he doesn't think he can wrap it safely.

Just wondering if anyone was close by to pick it up for me? Am quite happy to cover costs and add a few...

Unfortunately the wheel went for more then I was prepared to spend. It sat at 99p for 9 days and a few hours and then in the last 4 hours rocketed in price so I left it where it was.

Not to worry though... I'll keep my eyes open on eBay and bear FCF Couriers in mind for the next time!

As there's no general chat section on fcf or no obvious one II'd thought I'd ask here.

I'm on the look for a set of decent quality drill bits..

I'm fed up of searching and only finding blunt ones or ones that snap easily.

Presto or Dormer are good. Then you are onto Carbide and Cobalt.
Slow steady with lube is the way. Some studs seem to wear out even the best of drills.

I have done in Cobalt drilling out studs in old Landrover hubs. I think a 10.9 grade bolt is just so much harder than mild steel plate.

Just had a very scary experience tonight - on the receiving end of some serious road rage. :shock:

Dark, raining, driving on a dual carriage way passing a trailer truck, was roughly parallel with the cab when I suddenly noticed road works cones merging my lane into the left lane - I'd just been along the same road two hours earlier with no cones...

The speedo on my V6 is consistently 10% out.

Does this mean then, that instead of the indicated 138,800 miles it's actually only done 124,200 miles?

Not a Citroen, but anyway...

I used to have a company Leon (near to the end of the original model, 150hp diesel FR, and a fantastic car!). I always thought the speedo overread, and that was proved by satnav. Interestingly though, if the cruise control was set to hold a certain speed (say 60mph, set from the speedo) the trip computer would record...

Absolutely top tip this:

3 lt bottles at tesco's are £2-53p but buy one get one free see my other post so around 42p a lt not 85p till the 18th.I bet they run out before then.

I currently have my youngest daughters Clio sitting on the drive SORN. It's been there about 6 Months & the interior is going mouldy, has anyone else had this and how can I stop it?

If it has AC i would leave the engine running and the AC on recirc as long as its above 'c outside this should help dry it out.

There isn't any reason why you cant crack a window open just a smidge to let air in and out of the car.

Rear windows always seem to suffer due to moisture in the boots of vehicles, they always tend to trap it and have...

Hi, I have a Citroen c5 lx diesel 110bhp, there's a lack of power and its quite slugish on acceleration, I hear the turbo whistling but have no boost until 4000 rpm, what could it be?

If you can hear the turbo the first thing to check are the hoses from turbo to intercooler to engine, I would suspect either one has come loose or split, or it maybe a leak in the intercooler.

While watching the TV, an advert came up about magic carpet ride something we are aware of and have enjoyed for many years.

Although they (Mercedes) made their point with chickens, so the advert was a bit fowl! :wink:

They did not feature the car at all, just chickens being moved about, to demonstrate that their (the S class) car will stay...

Yesterday I decided to acquire a quote from Adrian Flux as they are advertised on the back cover of the CCC magazine.
They want me to believe that my Tow ball on my 1998 Mk2 Citroen Xantia is a modification to the Body work.
This is slightly questionable as the tow bracket bolts to the chassis, Not the body. :rofl2: :roll: :lol:

What I don't understand is how they manage to assume I have held a full UK license for three years it actually runs out in 12 months time, which is when I will get a reminder form from DVLA.

Affternoon all, sitting here pondering on doing an oil and filter change to the Big Ol' Bus, has only done 4k between mot's and this year i didn't do it for the test, - no emissions issues etc. But i was nosing about at what oils and where to get them and couldn't decide to go fully synthetic or Semi??

As the title. I took a policy out with this lot and their practices are to say the least questionable. Google Be Wiser complaints. There's lots of reading there for you.
I will be steering well clear of them in future.
