Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

I've found individual policies for each car the cheapest way of doing it. Each with their own NCB and tailored to suit the car. Esure gave a second car discount and applied the NCB from the other policy as well. Finding a Multicar policy that can cope with a modified 205 is near on impossible. Avoid Adrian Flux and Carole Nash.

On August Bank Holiday I'll be riding my bike on a 40 mile sportive in support of our local hospice...

I'm just hoping it'll be warm and dry on the day but being a Bank Holiday I may be hoping for too much!

Hi all.. i was lucky enough to do my annual pilgrimage to wiscombe park last weekend to watch a friend race an old a35 with a nicely tuned 1275gt engine...
Also running was an mg tf like mine mostly .. both did well although the a35 won that class!

Not sure weather (get that it's a play on words) this is the right place for Bar Chat .

A mooring neighbour yesterday left his bike in the direct sun for a couple of hours (47 C - 116 F), then jumped on it to ride back to his barge.

BANG - the rear tyre blew out like a shotgun discharge, should of seen his face, I couldn't understand the...

This relates to the 'first' series of them if the 'newer' ones count as 'new' ?

It seems generally speaking that if you wanted an MMT transmission*** you must have a 5 door C1, although it might be possible to obtain a 3 door 107 with this, Aygo seems available in both.

1.4 HDi seems only available in 5 door in C1 / 107 but...

When I worked as a TV Service Engineer all those years ago an ability to hear the line timebase whistle up was a very valuable aid to fault diagnosis and if you then heard the EHT rustle up, even batter...

I'd like to know what the consensus of opinion is from HDi vehicle owners concerning the use of Diesel fuel additives (for clarification - not particulate filter additives).

The likes of Wynns Injector Cleaner, Redex Diesel Treatment Cleaner and other similar products etc., all profess to clean the fuel system and say they are safe for all Diesel...

Ive used a few over the years when i was taxiing some work some don,t never noticed any signifigant increase in mpg but did help with emmision tests but i f have found throwing a fiver of kerosene in every couple of tanks helps just as much thats with putting up spaceship miles on cars as in 3 and 400,000 miles on them all diesel of course...

I know its not frog car related but thought as a few on here know their way around code and machines in respect to Linux and such that I'd give it a shot :)

I can't be the only person to have noticed that while the original suspension and steering bits on most PSA vehicles are good for ten years and six figure mileages plus, as soon as you start using aftermarket bits, those lifespans seem to shorten dramatically. This seems to apply to 'quality' aftermarket too.

Just thought I would mention I saw a pack with 3x 2 dose bottles for £6 in Teaco yearerday for both petrol abd diesel engines. I personally dont normally use it, going for Shell/BP good stuff every 3 or 4 tanks instead. May benefit someone though, feel free to move if its in the wrong forum, thought it may get noticed a bit more here.

Is there anyone that have had problems with play in the ends of the steering rack?

I managed to wear out one tyre very fast due to this problem. I managed do remove most of the play by tightening the 18mm plastic internal hex plug that compress the bushing that is pressing a plastic slide bearing that keeps the rack pressed against the pinion....

My laptops becoming prity much torturous to use. It's so slow on the internet compared to everyone else's and it takes an age to open or do anything.

The laptop is a mid 2010 Macbook Pro, 2.4ghz core 2 duo, 8Gb ram, NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB with its original 5400rpm 250Gb hard drive.
It's batteries due replacing as well as it used to last about...

This weekend I stripped down the laptop and gave it a good service. It got a de dusting firstly as there was a fair amount in there. I changed the thermal paste as well, the old stuff was like dry blutack so it was overdue. It's had a decent clear out too, about 90gb of junk is gone.

I still wasn't happy so I verified and repaired the disk...

Must admit i dont have much ìdea what pokemon go is other than its quite trendy just now.

It does séem to be a bit like AA box spotting and involves literally going to the location to find the Pokemon via your smartphone of course ànd taking a picture.

This Astra came in because his brakes did not work, he had asked about his brake pedal not feeling right a few weeks before but wanted a price. I told him the car needed looking at first to see what the fault was.

He only booked the car in due to the front brake caliper Pistons popping out and loss of brake fluid.

I don't want to defend any of these people, but it can be easy to get almost to that stage. When I was doing mad mileages in my C4 VTS one of the rear calipers siezed and by the time I got it in to be replaced one of the pads was almost down to the backing plate. It took me ages to get the brake dust off the wheel afterwards!

Hi my anty trying to get a car for under 500 pounds she got a 206 1.2 petrol but going to cost loads for mot I found a 206 2liter hdi on auto trader in Wakefield but I got shouted at lol by my grandad and anty saying she's doing short runs she doesn't want a diesel but I think a 2liter hdi would be good because it lower to tax then most petrol...

I think you are right on the petrol thing Ben. Hdi heater and temp gauge takes ages to get up.
Jazz 1.4 is only minutes before heat comes out and temps are normal.

Until it was mentioned elsewhere I had not noticed that CE had worn the same outfit for each episode, but it does make sense. Sir David Attenborough does the same for every wildlife program he does (light blue shirt, pale tan trousers), as his attitude is that the programme contents are important, not what the presenter is wearing.

After many years and many miles of Citroen ownership I'm no longer a Citroen owner, no longer even a French car owner.

The obvious car to replace my C5 with was a newer C5, an X7 in fact. Citroen changed the practical hatchback into a less practical saloon and that meant that I'd need a C5 estate if I was to get another Citroen. Searching for C5s...

OK, a very brief 'history' is parents had two of these around 1985/86 , the first was (even at that time) a very rough R plate and then this was traded in for a perfick mid blue 'V' plate. I can still remember the registration. :D , its long gone though :( Tax due: 01 February 1991

There are lots of videos of the SM online that I've seen before of course, but this one really caught my fancy as it's the only one I've seen that really gives a good impression of how the car sounds to drive, recorded from within the car. :)

I'm no expert on the SM, but agree with Simon about maybe a very heavy flywheel. It positively lumbers between one gear and another! The exhaust (or lack of it) and its mounting are a disgrace - agricultural, in fact.

I think you miss the point of a 1970's GT car. It's supposed to be loud and have character when revved hard, not quiet and...

I did not try it with just the battery disconnect. The sensor cost £25 and took about 5 minutes to put in and then connected battery and it's running perfectly.

307 needs its cambelt doing, and I thought whilst I had the coolant dropped I might as well take the opportunity to take the DPF out and clean it (as it needs the rad removing). It's done 115k now, and MPG has dropped back from 55 when I got it to around 50 now, and I put Diagbox on it last night and took it for a run, and it is going >100 mbar...

Oh I'd agree. There is no harm (and not a lot of cost) in attempting to clean a DPF really. If you break it or are unsuccessful you are not really much worse off as you'd of otherwise replaced it anyway... :)

Plans to build a vintage Shell garage in my town have been rumoured ever since the last Shell garage closed on the site years ago.

It now looks like it may be happening :D

This is fantastic news for Newport Pagnell and fits in nicely with the Aston Martin Heritage Works just up the road.

Yes, it does work.
Paintbrush used for Hammerite or solvent-based paint just needs a good agitate in tiny quantity of solvent first. Then a hefty squirt of bio liquid in a jar, work about with brush, then add some warm water. Do second time to get an absolutely clean brush.
Dirty/oily engine parts will clean up with bio and water in a workshop...

I had the Berlingo remapped, it's gone from 90bhp to a dyno'd 123bhp and 201lb/ft of torque.

Haven't had chance to drive it much until today due to sending other parts away for refurb.

What a difference! I can use a higher gear, thus lower revs almost everywhere and it gives a genuine shove in the back when you ask it to.

Well worth the money...
