Asked by an old friend if I would mind taking her to Gloucester to get some Christmas gifts, struggled to find a parking space but finally found one, duly bought the pay and display ticket and put it in the windscreen as required, returned fifteen minutes early to collect the car...........horror and dismay there's a penalty notice on the windscreen
NCP £100 penalty for not displaying the correct charge, can't understand that, the bloody ticket's in the window, turns out that NCP and Gloucester council have two closely adjacent car parks with identical Pay and display machines and I'd paid for the ticket in the Glos machine instead of NCP's.
Now what's the chances I can get out of this one?
In the merde again .

Should've gone to Specsavers
I suspect you'd have to find a really sympathetic administrator for that one Gibbo... Bummer.

If only it was that easy Marc, damned carparks are as one, no real apparent boundaries.

Probably intentional. Barstewards.

If the car parks do intermingle then something is wrong. There has to be some way to complain about this.

There's a very similar one in Wokingham which I've been caught out by, fortunately no one spotted me.
I think plenty of complaining is in order, as Steve says. I'd suggest playing the slightly confused elderly chap card, but we all know you're not that!

I think I know the Wokingham car parks, if they are the pair near to the police station.

Opposite where Argos is James, you turn left into it. On the left is the NCP, and straight ahead/right is the Local Authority one.

Yup, that is the one I was thinking of. I have not (yet) been caught out by that. By the way, the pair of car parks near to the fire station are (during the Christmas period) free at weekends (but I would suggest you check).

The chances of me going anywhere near a shop near Christmas are close to zero

True, but Mrs Michel might still have some Christmas shopping to do (unlikely, as she appears to be a lot better organised then most men!).

It's bloody criminal in my view
It should be outlawed. No question...
So sorry you have been a victim of this nasty conspiracy Gibbo
Milton Keynes has examples of this daylight robbery and daughter Sian has been similarly caught out and right royally 'done' as a result...
Many now boycott Milton Keynes over the cynical robbery that parking there now is... I do and when I need to go there I cycle.. Mercifully that is still free - for now...

Re: In the merde again .
There is a new NCP car park in Axminster, on the site of the old Axminster garage that I used to frequent many years ago for BMC spares.
The parking charges are very reasonable - at the moment, I think its £1.50 for all day (this is rural Devon) it doesn't say anything about not returning either on the machine or the ticket, I wonder if they could have you if you went back with the same ticket? Any experiences?
Peter

Re: In the merde again .
Dick Turpin appears to have taken over the parking at Edinburgh airport!
You can't drop of at the terminal without paying (£1 for 5 minutes, rising steeply thereafter!). There is a free drop off, but requires a bus ride (or long walk - not even sure that is possible) to the terminal. If you have the temerity to enter the short stay carpark, then you will be relieved off £4 for 15 mins, £7 for 30 mins, £10 for 1h and £13 some odd for 1.5h. Two trips over the weekend to pick up and drop off FIL have relieved us of over twenty quid
. Oh, and there is a 1.5% card payment fee - even if you pay by debit card
I can't really imagine why it is so expensive - you wouldn't park there to do anything that wasn't associated with airport business; there's a huge park and ride at the end of the access road from which you can get busses or the tram (for a lot less than from the airport 1/2 mile further up the line!) to the city centre. It's almost as if they don't want your business

He's also taken over Luton

I was in a different sort of merde this morning... Blocked drains courtesy of a lot of baby wipes

Good job I always have a set of rods handy!
May I suggest the best way to dispose of used baby wipes is to ram them in the mouths of the heads of NCP and their fellow car parking mobs who plan and execute these treacherous schemes to fleece left, right and centre
