I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

you could try NGK or CHAMPION,the glow plugs are quite easy to replace,should take you 1/2 hour to an hour,you dont need any special tools, just basic spanners.

I have heard of the water temperature sensor for the ecu failing and making the car run rich as the ecu thinks the engine is cold (there are normally 2 sensors ,one for the temp dash gauge and the other for the ecu) .
Worth a try as they should be around a fiver , or someone may be able to tell you how to test them .

I've got a Renault 19 1.4 energy (E7J) auto. The tickover has been 'lumpy' since we bought the car a couple of years ago, but the last couple of days, the car has started to misfire when revved.
Driving along, the car just seems sluggish, but revs OK.
But, if you rev the car when stationary, the revs get to around 3000rpm, then will fall back...

in theory they should adjust with normal every day use.but in the real world some dont,they need a helping hand by us mere mortals!
you can adjust them your self,just so the drum catches the shoes,but the wheel MUST spin freely!!

My brother in law had the same thing on a Alfa Romeo GTV.We located the wiper motor,gave it all a good spray with wd40,then they worked as normal.I would try that first as it`s easy & cheap.
Could also be that the wiper stalk is a bit dodgey.

if it has a remote stalk on the steering wheel once you have entered the code press and hold the button on the bottom of it.

does the car have an immobiliser and if it does is their any codes that have to be entered by the driver?
if not the ecu may be coded to the key in which case the keys would need programmed to the ecu,you would be looking at around 150 pounds from renault.

I changed timing belts on two of these engines last year and I didn't use any special tools. I discovered that the lines you see on a new timing belt line up with marks on the pulleys, something that hadn't occcurred to me before.

I have to change the cambelt on a Renualt Extra van with a diesel (F8Q) engine in it.
The Renualt manual says to use a MOT1054 TDC pin to lock the crank off.
Does anybody know where to get one of these cheap or if a certain size drill bit for example could be used instead?

We never got the Twingo in the UK officially as Renault never produced it in RHD form, there are a few LHD imports that were privately imported, thats about it.

Its sounds like that there is some sort of current drain causing the battery to go flat.
This could be something simple like maybe the boot light or glovebox light is staying on all the time due to a failed switch. You could remove the bulbs from these lamps to see if that makes a difference.

i would definetly get the wheels checked independantly.
First of all i would put the front wheel onto the rear and see if the vibration is different,it may either dissapear or it may be felt through the body of the car.it may also still be their.
Definetly get it somewhere else to get them balanced though,sometimes the machines can be a bit funny.

I have a problem with the wipers on my laguna, they work fine on medium and high settings but not at all on the intermittent setting. They also don't activate when using the screenwash. I've checked all the fuses etc but they are fine.
Somebody has suggested it could be a relay, does anybody know which one controls the wipers? I can see 3 light...

Modern engines do run very lean and the plugs can look very white. Are you getting a lot of knocking/pinking? Why do you suspect there is anything wrong at all? Is the engine running hot?
The blown exhaust gasket and or exhaust system can upset the ECU so get this sorted and you may feel happier anyway.

Had the same problem a couple of years ago. After spending over £120 on various bits and pieces, it turned out to be a £5.00 rotor arm that had worn down and just given up. This should be a quick and simple job to do.

Without wishing to appear too smug etc , if you are not sure which parts you need to put on then I wouldn't recommend attempting the job yourself.
A service can be as simple as an oil change ( i.e. oil filter and oil ). Its not critical every service but it could need air and fuel filters....if diesel then do these every service.

Automatic gearbox interchangability?

I have a renault Scenic 2.0 RXE Auto with a duff gearbox, I have been offered an engine and autobox complete out of a Renault Laguna. Please could anybody tell me if the two are interchangeable.
They both have the same type of single overhead cam engine.

Grinding or rumbling under power (gas) usually points to a driveshaft problem. However also have a quick look to see if anyting is fouling the steering rack and/or the condition of the belt on the PS pump.
Personally I would say probably a CV joint - have you tried to see if tehre is any wear when the wheels are not under load (ie jacked up?) You...

If you have teh towbar and the fixings its fairly idiot proof - BUT the back bumper has to come of first to locate the fixing points for the towbar (existing mount points used) and also to pull the wiring cable through to the car. 1.8 requires teh removal of one of teh engine mounts and there are NO visble timing marks.
I did one using the split belt method - not to be recommended for the faint of heart.
Remove cover and engine mount, slacken belt very slighly. cut existing belt in half (lenghthways) leaving half a belt on the pulleys. push new belt over gogs to meet old...

My wife has a 2001 megane Convertible. Now she needed a new head unit as the old one kept dropping the code. It's a radio cassette with CD changer so we pulled it out and wrote down the model number. Went on to E-bay and found a new one. When it arrived it was slightly different on its face but it fit and worked first time. I think you'll be best...

Despite the low mileage, the belt is likely to be 9 years old. Well past retirement age.
So - change it now.
For the cost of the tensioner, I'd do that at the same time.

Ive just got the wheel off my 95' Renault 19 Cabiolet to change the brake pads on the Lucas Caliper.
Am I going mad or are they secured with a hex(pentagon?) bolt that has 5 sides instead of the usual 6?
Maybe I'm trying to undo the wrong bolt? Anyone else changed thiers before and did you need special tools?

it has one major flaw - the infrared key plipper / central locking keeps packing up, the lastest occasion being yesterday. during the 5 years ive owned it its been to a renault garage about 4/5 times to have the plippers(x2) resynced...

Maybe you are looking at the wrong fusebox. The fuse should be number 10 on the fascia box to the right of the steering wheel. Number 9 on the diagram.

The fuse layout is as follows:
F1 LH/RH headlamp - high beam
F2 Ignition card reader, immobilizer, multifunction control module, starter switch
F3 Headlamp adjustment - gas discharge headlamps,...

During the installation of my hands free kit it looks like the radio fuse has popped. Neither the radio, handsfree nor clock display are working.
Problem is - where the hell is the fuse??!! Its not listed in the handbook. I've pulled every fuse in the box by the drivers door and none of them are blown.

Laguna I ventilation burning smell

I think a scrap unit would be better. If it is burning it will have lost resistance and is not worth the cost of rewind.

A problem with ventilation fan occured to my '96 laguna. When I turn the fan on, I can hear noise, it blows very weak and smells terribly on burning. I discussed it with one mechanic and he says that the fan motor has burned and it has to be changed.
Is there a possibility to fix this motor to avoid ordering (expensive) original part?

I had a very similar problem on my auto megan scenic. It turned out that the engine was miss fireing as one of the coil packs was faulty. Since this has been changed the car has driven with no problems

51 plate clio headlamp removal

There are a few different designs but the basic oval headlamp on later Clios have two screws at the bottom. You have to remove the radiator grille panel to gain access. If you have a headlamp adjuster inside the car you have to unhook the mechanism on the headlamp (should be a simple ball and socket). There will also likely be a bracket (B)...

does anyone know how to get the whole unit out? The reflector is moving around behind the glass so I wanted to take the unit out and see if I can secure it. There is a bolt at the top which frees up the top edge but it is secured from underneath somehow.

Are the hoses going to the matrix getting hot? Could the hot/cold mechanism be faulty and not allowing warm air into the car? Just some first thoughts....

MY clio heater is not giving out any hot. I have even diconnected the hose's going into the heater matrix from the engine compartment.Then attached a hosepipe to the inlet of the matrix to see if it is blocked.I then got water coming out of the other pipe of the matrix.

the main display backlight on my mark 2 laguna has gone off ( sat nav screen), but the radio still works, the battery has just been reconnected after service, can anyone tell me if there is any obvious things which could be causing it? all the fuses ar ok.
