Laguna 2.0 RXE '97 auto

Hi,
A friend has the above car, and when driving along the computer will tell him that the gearbox has gone into safe mode. He stops and restarts the engine, and all is fine... any idea's?
Sound like a Bill Gates product to me! [:(!]
