Laguna mk1 rear brakes

Unread post by barrie0 »

Hi , I am new to this forum my question is do the rear automatic adjusters (1995 2.0l drums) on my laguna work by 1 .Applying the handbrake or 2.Normal brake use or 3. Reversing the car and applying the brakes .
Also when adjusting the rear by using the star wheel the Haynes manual says to adjust it so that the drums will just fit over the shoes , is this with slight contact or no contact as it is a bit vague .
Thanks

in theory they should adjust with normal every day use.but in the real world some dont, they need a helping hand by us mere mortals!
you can adjust them your self, just so the drum catches the shoes, but the wheel MUST spin freely!!

Thanks Tonespeed
This is only my 3rd attempt on changing rear shoes , I always seem to fit them correctly but always get confused on the adjusting shoes and handbrake cable adjustment bit .
