Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Dear All,

I have a very bad jerking (something like miss fire & loss power) and cause my bracket to crack - it is made with aloy

now I have replaced it, the jerking is still there
what I suspect now is my injector is blocked or my fuel pump is giving me a problem now

what do you guys think?

I suspect my bettery is low --> alternator not charge...

Hi all,
I've got a intermittent knocking from the front more noticeable at around 70mph and can be as low as 30mph.Tends to be with a slight incline on the road with a small amount of left hand lock.Now i had this problem on my previous zx diesel it started around 200k and got quiet bad.I do a long commute to work and it does it on the same part...

Are the driveshaft gaiters in good condition? They should be airtight. Check by squeezing them GENTLY and feeling for resistance. If they've got a leak then water will get in over time and change the grease into a thin mixture of grease and water which looks like oil. If the grease has been thinned out then the driveshaft might sound noisier than...

A 2.0HDi 90 & 110 in the C5 does not have a FAP filter. Every 2.0HDi 138 16v model in the facelifted model does have a FAp filter, as does the 1.6HDi apart from the special edition 'Design' model.

One of the main reasons i wanted a late pre-facelift C5 was because i could have the 2.0HDi 110 which i know to be a good unit and it has no FAP....

Well everything was going fine, the Xant hadn't had a problem for a reasonable time, and then I hit a 3 pot hole in the road (on the N/S) at 60MPH, and the I think I've done something terrible to the rear...

Here are the symptoms:

There is a massive clunk coming from the N/S rear everytime I go over anything vaguely bumpy.

Has anyone had the engine auto-diagnosis warning lamp come on after renewing the seal on the fuel sender unit? The lamp came on after approx 50 miles with no loss in performance ie normal running and no loss of power. The light flashes off momentarily on start up but then stays on. The fuel line has been vented so chances are there is not a flow...

92 BHP ONLY with Turbo and intercooler and manual box in ZX

Intercooler on ZX same as 306 and mounted ON TOP of the engine.. inplace of the plastic air distribution house...

If its just a distribution house then its the 75bhp...

And its defenatly NOT a Turbo D because shes an auto... the auto box will also sap some of the 75bhp, so she will...

It just sinks and then returns to the top, This is with the suspension on high. Hi

My rear brakes suddenly started grinding. On investigation I found the rear caliper appeared to be out of line and is scraping against the inside of the wheel - metal against metal.

Are the bolts likely to have bent - is it best to fit a new caliper with new bolts.

I want to buy a new part at the auto factors the MOT man says it is a bottom ball joint the auto factors think it is a track rod, but it is not .

it is the ball joint on the end of the swing arm at the bottom close to the wheel on a citroen xantia estate, 1,8 injection petrol.

the proper and correct name will help me identify it for the motor...

try buying a MOTORQUIP swivle joint if you have a factors near by that are agents, as this brand is a susidury of Peugeot and are made to a good standard,

what you do find is an aufull lot of the stuff sold by the likes of ECP/GSF is sub standerd, im not saying all the parts they supply are as they do also sell some quite good parts,

Went shopping yesterday and i opened the boot but as I did the bit that the boot strut clips onto snapped cleanh off the car!
it then got jammed and was very hard to get out!
has anyone else had this happen and is there an easy fix or is it a weld job???
I've only had the car 2 days!!! and now the boot don't stay up!

Hi,

I need to fefill the eyolis tank on my C5 Mk2 (06 reg).

I have previously refilled a Mk1 but this had a float level detector and resetting the ECU was not necessary (unless you let it run down to alarm level!).

I have a lexia3 but am unclear on the process for resetting the level in the ECU.

Folks,

Just ordered replacement IR, 2 button fob from ebay for my '95 Xantia.

Scoured web....seems that car actually learns fob code if ignition on/main fob button depressed with fob close to receiver dome near rear-view mirror....will give it a go.

Question is...to replace the blade with mine, do I prise the blade rivets apart, or drill out...

xantia 2001 2.0Hdi Vin No. 72378951. Had a pre mot check and failed on a power steering pipe from steering rack to a flexible just behind the radiator does anyone know is this the famous Citroen flare or a more conventional one and is it possible to buy one ready made.

Folks,
Don't know if you can help me, but remote fob failed 7 years ago, so have been using key in drivers door lock since then.

All OK, up to recently, when it only works intermittently.
-
Barrel either spins with nil resistance, or it will catch correctly, and work, or, will catch but be impossible to turn.

Same with spare key.

I bought the wife a 90bhp HDi last month and set about changing the following:

Front discs and pads
n/s/f spring
Virtually new front tyres

And earlier this week, new rear pads. ( I have new discs but haven't got round to changing them yet.)

Now the car has sailed through it's mot today, but under braking I still have wheel wobble, and also...

99.9% certain it's the front end, and I wonder if it could be a bearing, although you would hear a knackered bearing at all speeds, not just under braking.

Would have done the rear discs, but time, and the fact one of the grub screws wasn't playing ball stopped me replacing the discs, but hopefully will do them tomorrow. Will probably have to go...

I have a 2001 2.0Hdi and upon reading the danger of rust and rubber disintegration I am giving serious thought to replacing both of mine. Who though stocks them my local factors think nobody but main agents do. My experience of main agent prices gives my wallet apoplexy. Does any one know a supplier.

It's advisable to change it, simply as (assuming there's no sign of leakage typically whitish crusty stuff around its sealing edge) they can start to leak a short time afterwards if you are unlucky.

It's just sensible to change it at the same time really, to avoid another stripdown a few months later.

My C5 estate has a vibration between 70-80MPH. It is felt through the floor not the steering wheel.

My understanding was that wheel balancing problems caused a vibration through the steering wheel (not my problem). What are the possible causes of vibration felt on the floor?

Going up to 80MPH and beyond cures the problem (when I'm testing the...

The vibration has now gone after rear wheels were balanced at 7 euros each.

Hi all i have a 98 1.9td xantia no aircon the temperature normally runs at 70unless i am stood then it will raise to 80 and just over that the fans come in and cool it down it has.

I have an unsual intermittent problem with my 2005 Citroen C3 1.4 Petrol.

Sometimes when I turn the ignition, I can hear a very 'dull' noise. It's really hard to describe. I want to say it's like a vibration but I'm really not sure it is. This noise persists until I stop the engine.

Hi All..

Got a Xantia HDi in, with the diagnostic light on... Lexia says Low Fuel Pressure signal reading..

Car starts and runs, but is limmped to 3k revs flat out.... however, after a couple of revs it will suddenly go up to MAX revs, but then theres an awfull diesel KNOCK.... its not your average knock, its that bad the engine shudders with...

I've just changed the cambelt, tensioner, idler and crankshaft sprocket on my ZX 1.9D, 1993 (XUD). I've rotated the roadwheel, with the car in fifth gear, and watched the cambelt on the sprockets. The belt seems to be running slightly off the edge on the diesel pump sprocket. It's only overhanging by about 1 mm but I would prefer if it was...

I'll assume they haven't messed about with the sprockets then, as it's too much of a pain to remove them just to have a look if the Woodruff key is missing.

I've got the old style cambelt covers. There's a thin metal backplate behind the sprockets inbetween the tensioner etc and the block. There could well be rubbish down there getting...

The Gaiter for the O/S CV Joint has a big split in it. I don't have ANY money at the moment and need to use the car, so how long before it is completely distroyed ? I don't mind it wandering a bit, I just want to know how long technically I could leave it!

True, you need to keep a good hold of the driveshaft while you pop the CV joint off but in my experience they don't take that much effort.

Has anybody used the Showroom Shine that is advertised on the Ideal World shopping channel?

Is it any good as the demonstrations show that it is the `Bees Knees`

I have to say it is good stuff but the advert says it will clean 12-15 cars but i am near empty after 4 cars i emailed Ideal world but they havent responded yet but on the makers site it says it will clean 8-10 cars so someone is being economical with the truth. i will keep you posted :roll: :roll:

Still worth checking what's on offer from the scrappy - a few years ago, I picked up a brand new and genuine Xantia rad for £15. I presume that the previous owner must have fitted it when prepping the car for MOT, which it subsequently failed.

Hello,
First the Xantia then the C5 - both cars have suffered from rusting fasteners for the engine undershield, causing instant panic when the shield drops to the road and scrapes when at speed. Are these shields really necessary and, if so, what for exactly? As usual all advice gratefully received. :D

04 plate Vauxhall Combo van sent for a service; lower front part of sump is seen to be badly corroded with an oil weep, mechanic pokes with finger, lump of rust falls off - oil all over workshop floor! :shock:

A couple of days ago as I was happily flicking my key in and out (as I have a won't to do) it suddenly stopped wanting to go back in. I managed to force it back in and then it was reluctant to come back out again. I tried to start our Activa the other day but the battery was flat.

When I let go of the key both the speedo and rev counter flipped right round and went off the scale.

After I jump started it and took it for a run, the speedo has corrected itself but the rev counter hasn't, it's still stuck right round, well past the top mark on the dial so...

Hi,

I drifted across a thread somewhere where somebody said they replaced a tensioner pulley and spring on an xantia diesel.

I seem to remember them saying something about setting up the spring properly does anyone know what they mean please.

I have just had my aux belt tensioner replaced by pleiades thinking that maybe it was worn needle...

Mine came with the roller, it's just not removable
The old one (which was also from ECP) has a removable roller, although I wouldn't advise removing it ;)

With the damage to the spring end of the tensioner I wasn't going to take any chances.

Iv now done 154,000 miles in my car and would like to do another 154,000 :lol:

So what is needed to keep the engine going and going ....

Well my friend replaced the gaiter for the N/S CV Joint today and put some new grease on it too. He thinks it was caught in the bud and shouldn't go bad now, but I will know within 50-70 miles if there is any rust internally, as it will start to grind/squeal when driving.

Hi dont know why you have'nt had a reply but after you said quote the only thing I can now put it down to the boot lock I removed the lock/catch and put it in the closed position and operated the c/l and nothing at all happened not a sound not a whimper .
I guess if its in the locked position it wont open with the car running.

can anybody please advise as to where I might be able to buy some decent quality 8mm internal diameter fuel line?

I bought 4 meters from Halfrauds which is made by goodyear and the stuff is so soft when used in conjunction with a flate plate heat exchanger
