Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

Excellent job of reducing the wind force acting on the fence as long as you don't need the privacy =D>

No point in privacy as the close has all open plan front gardens.

Has anyone here found a car that can match the Xantia 2.0l HDI for comfort, performance size and economy?
We have driven diesel Citroens for the last 25 years. 3 BXs and 2 Xantias. Total purchase cost of the lot circa £6500.00 so not shiny new ones. All but the previous Xantia were killed by rust and one of the BXs had done 330000+ miles before it...

Jim Eastment

Jim was involved in a cycling accident yesterday and has been hospitalised.
Jim has a neck injury requiring a frame etc to immobilise him _temporarily_ and some broken ribs etc.

At present he resides in Milton Keynes Hospital (where one of his daughters works) and seems to be in his normal upbeat and positive mood.

A full recovery...

Having never troubled the scorers with the purchase of a new car, I hadn't realised the slightly odd system of Vehicle Excise duty which has applied for all cars registered after 1st April 2017. Gets tinkered with all the time of course. As of today this is what the Gov.uk website shows...
So the first year is determined by CO2 emissions....

And there will be a new pothole fund, worth £500m a year, which is enough to fill 50m potholes, he says.

So, that's £10 per pothole. What?? #-o
No wonder the sub-standard black stuff (universally supplied by UK tarmac suppliers, but pretty much unknown in several other EU countries) just falls...

Well its taken me two weeks, but I finally found a replacement for my Dispatch. Today I paid a deposit on a 16 plate Vauxhall Vivaro van120ps, with 65000 miles, f s h ,new mot and service and 2 years full warranty, hopefully collecting it on Friday.

The engine is about as subtle as a male elephant in a state of 'must' with a whole herd of female elephants in heat!!!

Ford V8. It does sound rather rough though, not the usual mellifluous 'burble' one expects.

It was designed to be a racing car, where the exhausts tend to be somewhat less refined than on road cars.

I think the hydraulic pump pulley of a Xantia X1 is something like a turned cast steel. Don't think it is made from cast iron, as it is one piece, and haven't seen a V (or polyV) - belts over a cast iron V-grooves. So, despite most of the steel nuts have a bunch of additional elements like S, Pb, Mn and others, that could be true also for the cast...

Just bought a 57 C5 estate & have returned today from a 2 day trip to Calais to re stock our wine supply.
I was concerned about how much I could carry, but no need to worry, as I got in 42 x 3 lt wine boxes plus about
15 bottles of assorted booze & general shopping.
The boot was about 30% full but the weight was the deciding factor.
No problems...

Mk2 Dispatch put in for ar b bushes . Captive nuts on subframe are spinning so subframe has to come off😠😠😠

I have never used it but a mixture of baking powder and superglue is said to work miracles.

I have some here - I was a bit enthusiastic cleaning my oven and the outer glass has come loose at the bottom. I tried using Gorilla glue but it separated again after a month. One day I'll mix some up and get clagging.

Going to try it on the cracked...

Well that was a short affair, the head gasket went on the xsara after about 6 weeks added to other faults with the car I have moved on to the next chapter, I now have a 2008 1.6 petrol xsara picasso desire, a much more useful car, lets hope it lasts longer than 6 weeks :-D

Well here it is...

1. Its good because of the things it doesn't have....no dpf and no need for Eolys, no dmf, no rear electric windows, no tachometer, no sat-nav, no automatic gearbox.

Wow, someone's just sold a gorgeous looking blue 206 GTi 180 for £200 in Livingston :shock:

Did say it had some issues & it's in Bonny Scotland but wow at the price! Just sick that it's probably gone to a breaker rather than being saved!

I find myself strangely attracted to Peugeot 307 SW vehicles. I am thinking about buying a caravan to go on short breaks/weekends etc and I'm wondering would the 1.6 HDi pull a caravan. because of the colossal road tax in Ireland a 2.0 is really out of the question. Caravan wouldn't have to be huge just SWMBO a couple of Bichon and moi!

You're right of course Paul, I was thinking of the anti roll function being given by the sub cradle arrangement that makes it a bit stiff.

You could look at the 308 doctle, it replaced the 307 in 2009 ish, and is reportedly similar but better, once you get past the daft bonnet proboscis! Check the bottom of both sills under the rear doors if you...

Talking of which, what do people think of the automatic left or right fog light when turning ? Citroen first used it (can’t remember which model) over 10 years ago.

I know it’s alleged to give a better view of the kerb when turning but I’ve tried it on several cars and...

A dual carriageway near me has a 50mph, average speed limit and is labeled as a Low Emission Zone .... so if I drive a full EV, can I go faster without fear of prosecution, as I will have no tail pipe or noise emissions!! :rofl2: #-o .

I am finding that since entering the world of ev ownership, my driving priority isn't getting from A to B as quickly as possible but getting from A to B preserving levels of battery charge by driving as efficiently as possible. That's a good maxim for driving an internal combustion engine vehicle as well. It's certainly one I try to follow.

nobody will understand the french, am having a problem taking out my dashboard, removed everything also every visible screw and bolt but its not coming out. it only moves an inch or two tried pulling as hard as i can in every direction but its not budging.

The Americans love their pick ups. TESLA's take on the pick-up is definitely a head turner and looks nothing like a Ford Ranger. Interesting or awful?

Rival Rivian's Electric Pickup looks a bit more conventional, but will buyers prepared to spend large sums on such a vehicle be looking for the TESLA edge-i-ness literally to stand out from the...

I have owned a Citroen Nemo for about 6 years and I like the car when it's working, I also think the engine is very sweet and economical.

However even though I drive only 7000 miles a year with local trips only, during my ownership there have been a number of problems.

For example replacement of both coil springs, bearings, both CV...

A woman in an Aldi store in Dublin was taken to hospital after another woman rammed her with a trolley. She was about to pick up the last Kevin the carrot stuffed toy in the store.
You'd have to wonder what is wrong with people that they would buy the advert rather than a product and the idea of hurting someone over this advertisers wet dream is...

Down-front electrical connections can have a rough time - weather, road spray, engine bay heat, etc.
Use some contact cleaner (or WD40 if that's all available) and a bit of repeated re-plugging (as you did) to clean the contacts up. Glad the French Horn section is working again!

Too right, almost by definition, the commonly used spade terminals...

I have read in another forum of a member who went to buy parts from a Citroen main dealer only to be told that they don't sell parts to the public any more - only to trade or of course they will fit it in their workshop. I noticed on the Citroen UK website that they list dealers and service agents for new cars, used cars and service - they don't...

I have developed an interest in hydrogen powered cars. Electric cars aren't going to be the answer for reducing carbon apart from the drain on the national grid to charge them there's the time, the range etc.
Hydrogen cars would be clean, take only a few minutes to refuel and have a decent range. With enough hydrogen pumps range anxiety wouldn't...
