Eunice progress reports.

Post by mickthemaverick »

Definitely in the calm before the storm in Hertford at the moment, 10.30am, sunny and a moderate breeze, not worth a reef on the mainsail yet!! :-D
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

It's batten down the hatches here in Wales, and as I type this an almighty crash and just seen the barbecue go whizzing past the window - off out to rescue that now....

I don't know about "tie me kangaroo down sport", but have just managed to retrieve the barbie and the fountain ornament. Needless to say the bin men have not turned up, which I think is ridiculous.

I mean if the postman can deliver the mail, surely having bins and rubbish strewn all over the place is a complete hazard and should be collected up ASAP. 'Elf n safety' gone mad.

11.35, power cut here :(

I've got two generators, a nice little 2kva one that I'd need to get going, and a bigger 4.5kva one that I'd need to go and get. At what point do I rig one up ? 5 minutes before the power comes back on ?

11.40 Hertford, 3 reefs in the mainsail, foresail stowed!! Oh for an anemometer though compared to riding naked motorcycle I'd say 30-40mph winds. :)

If the BBQ is still working Marc sling a few steaks on medium rare and then you just need to fire them up in the air and we can all have a bit!! :-D

Washington
No, not DC.
Was bright and sunny here but clouded over now. Breezy but not windy.
Going to get rid of the car before it deteriorates.

12.45 Hertford. Mainsail stowed and hove to. Considering sea anchor, suggest gusts 55ish

Took the car away before it hit. Bright and sunny, cold but warm in the sun.
Back five minutes and it is dark and gloomy now.

We move into our 'new' house in Shropshire on 5 March.
Took the precaution of getting the property insured w.e.f. today!
Wind currently 54km/h there.

2.45pm in Hertford. Winds back down to 30-40 I'd say. Considering hoisting the mainsail and trying for some headway. :-D
