I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

I don't know if this is the same thing, but on my Laguna estate the boot will unlock but not lock. I looked at the wires where they go into the back of the car from the rear door (inside a rubber 'tube' at the top of the boot) and found the wire had broken. It's not surprising, as all the wires bend through 45 degrees, are move each time the boot...

Renault Espace Diesel heating problem

I have this car (1998 RT-X DT 2.2L) and the heating fan has stopped working. The lights on the heating console come on, when I press the buttons I can hear flaps moving, but there is no air passing through the system. Not even the sound of the heater attempting to push air through the system.
I have had someone come around with a diagnostic kit...

My friend has an R Reg Clio 1.4, and the driver side windscreen wiper managed to disconnect itself from the mechanism and pivot past the side of the windscreen. There was also a smell of burning, not unlike a scalextric set.

Bolted on like most euro boxes. I'd go for out of pocket expense rather than insurance. Once had the drivers door on a Rover 216 GTI kicked in by some pr*t. Paid £45 to get it repaired. There's loads of motor factors who do new panels. Spray paint don't cost too much these days.

Don't know Stuart, can you identify the caliper with the wheel off? this may help you identify the pads, or can you take a pad out and get a lift to a motor factors and they will do the rest.

hi the matrix is also known as the heater radiator .once you have the dash out take the heater
unit out the matrix is at the back of the unit held in by two screws thats all that holds it in hope this helps moz

The heater matrix needs replacing on my 1992 clio RT. I cant afford to have it done by a pro, so I'm going to give it a go myself. This may sound like im a bit crazy but im generally very good at things like this.

Got the clutch kit from local auto factors £114+vat - original Valeo clutch.
Local mechanic charged £100 to fit.
Car has done over 140k, on original clutch - so I take the comment about the clutch not being strong back.

Im after help locating a lock set for a Renault Master Van (S Reg, new (not the brand new shape) shape similar to the vauxhall and nissan whatever they are!). Also is it possible to reprogram the remote locking plips for these vehicles, (if so, would any other plips work with the van - ie clio, megane).

The Gunson's will be fine. I can only imagine that the Haynes book is referring to the method of building up pressure with the brake pedal before a second person opens the nipple or some other high pressure method.

Kangoo air bag

You have to disconnect the bag battery and the van's negative battery lead and wait for at least five minutes for the capacitors to discharge. The bag is held on by two screws at the back.of the steering wheel. You have to be careful not to subject the bag to any knocks. There is a connector at the back of the unit which has to be disconnected....

Does anyone know how easy / not it is to remove a drivers side air bag on a kangoo?. my fathers got one and it appears to be making a annoying vibrating sound from that particular area (horn switch etc), just wondered how easy it would be to remove and clean etc.

Got the beast up on the jack last night. The cables leading to both drums seem fine and secure, however one wheel is spinning with the handbrake on and the other is solid. Is this just a case of tightening something near the handbrake and if so do I need to do this from underneath or could there be a problem with the drum...

Had this problem on a Pug 405, Turned out the flap that stops the outside airflow coming in to the car was lose & blocking the heater intake & keeping the stale air in the car.

Handbrake Renault 19. Help Appreciated

It is possible the actuator arm (my own term) on the drum has been damaged by the pothole. This is the lever where the cable attaches. Pulling at either of these with the handbrake on should tell you if the cable has broken. The cable crosses over so o/s drum has cable attached to n/s of hand lever. A cable might be seized or the lug pulled off...

Be sure the piston went back clean! You can bleed the system as normal, only the sequence is different for ABS. Left front, right front, left rear, right rear. You will have let quite a bit of air into the system and the likes of a Gunson's Eeezibleed will make life easier. Just make sure also that your engine is not running before you bleed the...

Just to let you all know that I replaced the battery recently and all of a sudden the demisters work.

Both do not work. Have checked fuses and all OK. Switch in dashboard lights up when pressed and I can hear heated rear window relay switch engaging. This did coincide with heater blower motor breaking. Any ideas?

I think it is a brush motor in which case the brushes might be worn to a state where they work intermittently. Could also be terminals which need to be cleaned or secured. Looks like you have some contorting to look forward to!

The size is 8mm square and you should get a tool to fit your ratchet from most accessory suppliers (the big 'H' included). There should be a copper washer fitted.

This would appear to be a fault with the ECU and I would guess it is not adjusting the mixture to compensate for a cold engine. From what I can gather, the engine should idle at 750rpm whether hot or cold. The idle is adjusted automatically. Much as I resent taking cars to main dealers, it looks like this is the way forward.

Sounds like there is something loose in the control switch. You could get some cleaner from Maplin and try that. I would be looking for a scrap.

GSF sell shafts for the Scenic. Breaker depends on where you are or try www.carparts-uk.com - sounds like you need a new lock mechanism for the door but it could be a rod come loose from handle.

I have just bought a scenic and need 2 new drive shafts,any idea where to get them from?any idea of any cheap breaker that i could get them from?Also drivers door wont open from outside,any ideas?

any 1 know?is it possible to put the engine from the r 19 1.9td into mk 1 clio both j reg.if so,would there be any problems with drive shafts,turbo etc.

I think the heater is a red herring indeed. It is possible a dash bulb has melted to cause a short circuit. It could also be wiring or printed circuit done the same. These things can be difficult to track down. You could start by gaining access to the dash bulbs and removing them one by one with a test meter bridging the fuse terminals (lights on)...

Sound's like it is the immobiliser (I had a problem with mine and it did exactly the same thing) it ended up being a loose connection on the immobiliser. The RAC fixed mine :)
Do you have the little red LED in the middle of the door locking button on the centre console? if your immobiliser is working fine it should flash steadily without the keys...

I thought it was the fuel pump, so did the AA, so i changed it.

Serv Light on Clio 1.4 16V

My sister in law recently bought a 51 reg Clio 1.4 16V and the other day the 'Serv' light on the instrument panel came on.
She took it to a local garage who 'fixed it' (not sure of the details) but the light subsequently came on and then later went out again.
Can anyone suggest the likely severity of a problem indicated by this light, or does it...

I'd suspect the 5th gear bearing has collapsed; 5th and reverse sit on the same shaft.
I'd be tempted to drain the oil and see how much metal debris is in it.
lots of bits = new box time.

Wish I could help as I am a musician. Would be cheaper than buying a tension tool! If I pluck my kangoo belt at the longest run it is too inaudible to ascertain the pitch.

Try a Gunsons Eezibleed, it uses the pressure in the spare tyre to force clean fluid through the system.
It'll be the best tenner you'll ever spend on brake tools, and stops you busting the master cylinder seals by pushing the pedal too far.

This model has discs on the back and whilst bleeding them the fluid came out for a while then stopped then started to back bleed every time the pedal was pressed. Make sure your reverse lights are working and the gearbox switch is ok, Meganes have a one sweep thingy when you engage reverse and this could be the problem. Also check the earth point behind the o/s/r light as this can cause problems too.

am having a problem whith my 99 megan 1.4 16v rear wiper is jerking all the time even when not turned on there doese not seem to be any relays just a control unit on the back of the fuse box i can hear a clicking from this unit when the wiper moves if i unplug this unit all sorts go wrong eg central locking hazards oil light imobilizer renault...
