Quickie - Sump plug socket size Clio 1.4?

Unread post by mattie »

Hi all
Apologies in advance for dulllard question. We're trying to change the oil on my friend's Clio 1.4 Sport, R-plate. I can't, for the life of me, figure out the fitting on the sump plug. It's an internal fitting, we've tried all the sizes I have but none seem to fit. I can't see the plug clearly, as it's quite far back and I'm not sticking my head under while the car is on the jack only, but it looks like it might even be a square fitting.
Does anyone know what it is?
Also, I always fit a new crush washer on my car (Mk2 Golf GTI) but that is an external socket, and it's quite clear where the washer goes. Does this one also have a washer? There's no reference to one in the Clio manual.
Thanks
Matt

The size is 8mm square and you should get a tool to fit your ratchet from most accessory suppliers (the big 'H' included). There should be a copper washer fitted.

Hi Beezer.
8mm square is anew one on me, so a trip to the motor factors will inded be necessary! I assume I don't need to visit the main stealer to get one? (EDIT) - sorry, ignore last bit, didn't read your reply properly! Will pop by Halfords as most convenient.
Thanks for comments, much apreciated.
