Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

First off, I am a terribly centimental creature who pretty much immediately bonds with any object animate or otherwise...the older and more cantankerous the better. First off, I borrowed a Xantia from Work many moons ago and my sister named it Fifi the f@@@@ing Frog. I liked the name so it stuck. Every Citroen I've had has been christened Fifi and this one is Fifi VII.

Hi

Today whilst inspecting some wires and making good, I was tracing a line and noticed that the crash cut-out switch had been bypassed....
I have a spare in the scrapper V6, but before I mess with it, ? what would the reason be for this ? (if the switch is not broken, I do not know how to test it)

In case any of you are into Motorcycle racing - the MotoGP race yesterday from Argentina is *well* worth a watch. Highlights on ITV4 at 10pm tonight (TV and ITV's website).

Such a shame the BBC let it go to BTSport channel. I refuse to pay Sky or VM for the channel as it's the only thing worth watching on there! Ended up watching a bad stream...

Great news...coolant leak on the V6Activa....rats !

Had a quick look and its running down the back of the engine, looked at the matrix outlets, new fittings to new plastic so not there it seems. Sticking my flesh into a hot engine \I found no dampness on the expansion tank, BUT there does look like dampness on the Degassing Tank....new is no...

Big lump hammers and Ratchet straps in bed ?.....what do you do

Well I try some riveting.......................in-scale, only a few 1000 to go

These are pressed out with a special tool and are 0.05mm btw and applied with a 00 brush using Future floor polish as an adhesive.

With a move coming up later this year I'm thinking of upgrading my licence to either B+E or a C licence, so we can rent a trailer or van, and move all our stuff ourselves.

Yes it's beyond gutless (especially when running on 3 1/2 cylinders...) but it sounds good and being the undesirable version to me just makes it all the more worth saving.

Random question I've meant to ask for a while now.

The one observation both me and my other half have made is that especially on motorways that my Xantia (XUD9TE engine) could easily handle another gear. Would no doubt improve economy and cut down on the engine drone which seems to annoyingly peak at exactly 70mph.

Would need a diesel based transmission but it would work quite well I suspect. Swapping stuff over from the BE3 I think is just the release mechanism as HDi's (RHD ones at least) tend to be hydraulic rather than cable operated.

The steering lock angles on a 306 GTi6 are terrible in my opinion :( , the length of the box means they had to reduce...

a friend of mine has one of the above and is looking for some new tyres, he feels the last lot were way to pricey,

they are 255x45x19

anyone any suggestions on were to purchase some at a reasonable price and brand?????,

he says the first set only lasted around 12K miles, and i dont think he drives it in anger :shock: #-o

Hi guys

For Project Stictiva I have purchased a pair of full car tilt ramps, about 5 meters long and raise the car about 1.5m. Drive up and they tilt to flat.

I am due to go to France in the next 14 days to pick up an Activa with a car/trailer sailing via Newhaven ....can anyone save me a 8 hour drive so I can pick them up on my return and load...

im thinking of purchasing one,
firstly
not a huge budget

secondly
would prefer one that has maybe one camera on the device and a remote one for the rear end of the car,

thirdly
what record time capabilities,

forthly
what format would the likes of the Police, insurance company require the data in????

Hi All,

Not car related in the slightest, but we are moving house so our bed which has been in storage for 18 months while we stayed elsewhere needs to be reassembled only to find that some of the bolts are missing! #-o :evil:

It's a solid wood frame using 3 threaded studs with half moon spacers, washers and split washers, This is what they look...

If your in/near Bristol this may be good for that gearbox/clutch change/DPF/Exhaust/RearBearings.... not been there, don't know them ....but I think they are newish for the area.

I’ve just had a black Citroen Cactus as a courtesy car for the weekend, while our C6 has its cam belt replaced. For those who may be interested in it, I collected some thoughts.

I expected to hate it. The last courtesy cars I had from Citroen didn’t impress me. The DS3 was horribly hard riding, as if set up for a racetrack, yet its gutless engine...

And the albions were what we're at bluebird in Macduff when I was going to school. Then bluebird got fords. That was between 1973 to 1978, when we were at high school. The mischief we used to get up to in the space above the engine behind the back seats lol

I don't know if anybody caught the BBC Breakfast show, but they had the presenters from The Classic Car Show on (Quentin Wilson and Jodie Kidd). One of the vehicle clips shown was of a DS Cabriolet being driven around Monaco. The program starts on Channel 5, 19:00 this evening (but I don't know if the DS will be in this evening).

206 without power steering. Likely non UK spec

Boxer / Relay 4x4

405 4x4

106 (old shape) with power steering. Again likely LHD only as they had a belt drive pump instead of...

There was a also a few very early XMs (on G plates) with carbs...

Last night on Channel 5 the newest episode of the Classic Car Show, which is presented by Quentin Wilson and Jodie Kidd featured a Citroen.

They went down to Monaco, and before the racing started did a lap of the circuit in a Citroen DS Decapotable.

So a tour of the circuit in a lovely classic with a supermodel, nice! 8-) :wink:

Recently, it seems. I went away and mis-booked my return flight when clicking on the little calendar grid.

Wasn't until I was all packed up and double-checking my flights the night before return, I realised that I'd inadvertently given myself another week's holiday. :shock: Better than vice-versa!

i had my DIAG 2000 on ebay for £120 buy it now collection in person only,
it had 11 persons watching it
1 question asking how much to send via courier,

bare in mind this was being sold with its trolley and harness tester,

i replied as this is with its trolley it will probably have to go on a pallet

no further response from them,

I have a continuing search for rear C5/C6 rear Anti Roll Bar bushes OEM from Citroen...... to give you free bushes with a new bar @ £250 !....nope.....so

I have talked today to A leading market supplier of replacement bushes (happens to be local) and have arranged to go down with my car to start the process of getting a replacement set for the...

I'm sure I can.. If you can wait a bit I'll take a picture of all of it. There's two bushes on a V6 top mount and both can fail,often after the gearbox has fallen into limp mode. Gear selection, especially into reverse, happens with a big bang and a lurch that is...

Something that has niggled me for a long time actually.

The first automatics were about D plate from what I recall possibly just before the TU was around (and I can see they could not use the 'suitcase' unit with the autobox really)

So they used the XU5 , to be fair (apart from the curious change of tensioner arrangement later on) these were...

Andy, incredibly interesting about the lack of oil cooler on the XUD7 causing the valve clearance tightening...

An oil temperature gauge might be very revealing..

I know on the ES9, another engine with no oil cooler, just how hot the oil can get when it's give a lot of beans... I always thing that's why the oil temperature gauge was deleted on...
