My MOT tester advised me to replace the headlamps on my 1989 series 1 R19TSE before the next test but the studs holding them in are turning inside the plastic headlamp backing when I use a 10mm socket on the nut.
The existing headlamps would probably be OK if I could remove the glass lenses and use a silver cloth to remove the tarnishing on the...

2002 Renault Scenic 1.9dci fails to start

Our new Scenic with 114k miles on clock is now intermitantly refusing to start.
It Cranks well, and if its left it coughs but doesn't catch.

I towed it about 2 miles in to local Garage, when I got there it fired up first time!

I left it with them as it now had an engine light on, and they of course ran it through the diagnostics and then...

Well, due to an inlet-side leak causing a misfire on anything other than full throttle, I've got to fit a new inlet and exhaust manifold gasket to the R4 motor in the DRK.

It looks like both inlet and exhaust have to come off as some of the studs hold both on - can anyone confirm this?

Is there *anything* I can do to lessen the risk of the studs...

On the three occasions my DPF has blocked and the engine warning light come on has been after Motorway drives in 6th gear. This may be a coincidence as obviously these are not the only times I've been on the motorway in 6th. However I don't do much motorway driving, many Welsh windy roads.

I'm about to have an oil change and I've bought the Elf 5W30 DPF oil Renault Recommend and I'm going to insist the garage use it.

Did you get a message on the display them the display when the regen kicked in? Did you have to drive for 10 mins and then the regen kicked in? Or was complete after 10 mins?

Hi i have a 2004 1.5dci it wont crank over only showing injection fault on dash display . Ive check connections between uch and ecu also all fuses and earth points , also borrowed a spare uch but still the same .Only codes are main relay df015 HELP!

Renaults are notorious for loom corrosion around the battery tray, it's usually only discovered after the car won't start and requires careful examination of the loom, the corrosion can be inside the insulation. A code reading session could help.

Clio engine swap now wont start !!

I have changed the engine on my Clio but now it wont start, the fuel pump is running continuously stops for a second then starts again, it not even trying to run the starter motor i have looked the wiring over and all looks good, I have used the donor cars engine wiring but have changed the ecu. Hi there.
I recently bought a Master 2.2dci on an '02 plate. It's an ex British Gas van and has covered just over 100k.
The van was absolutely fine but i had no record of the cambelt being done, so out of caution, i had it done at a local garage. And thats where the problems started!
Not long after, the van became very slow starting in the morning...

The Prius I had complained after it's rear pads were changed. Do bear in mind that reading a Renault with third party tools can lead to misleading fault codes - assuming the garage don't have access to...

I think you really need it connecting to a Clip to find out what the UCH thinks is going on. Possibly a faulty lock.

In the meantime a Disklok could be a good idea. I use them on all my cars.

Clutch pedal dropped to floor with a snapping sound, managed to coax it home, found a piece of broken black plastic on floor of van, trying to remove the cable so I can see the end of the cable that fits to the clutch pedal but cannot work out how it comes apart, any help please

Hi new member here.

Can anyone help? we have an Espace mk4 3.0 dci Initiale 53 plate.

Our radio started working intermittently, it would switch off and on on its own, but it has now stopped altogether.
There appears to be power at the radio and the cd changer.
We have tried the remote to start the radio and fitted new batteries and also the top...

No idea of garages down there.

First off establish what you want done. Oil and filter change, air fiter, fuel filter and if an auto, then at least one gearbox oil change. Make sure you know what ATF fluid is needed and that they use it. I would also do brake fluid and engine coolant change.
Service means nothing really unless you have a record...

I have hopefully got FLO the 3.5 up to scratch for my fishing season ahead.
For MOT I fitted: New rear springs, new rear calipers, rear brake discs, rear brake hoses, rear ARB bushes. Of course I had to cut brake pipes and re-flare in situ.
Rear springs on a Vel are fun. Special tool needed as no room for conventional spring clamps. I made them...

Hey guys.

Just picked up a 56 plate Megand scenic Oasis.

My problem is radio requires a code. Previous owner has put wrong code in too many times. So it comes up with error ghe counts down from 99. Problem is the ignition switches itself off after 20 mins without engine running and this is not long enough for the countdown. How can I stop it...

Ive changed plugs on a range of cars but am stumped by this clio and searching on youtube brings up different looking engines. Heres an image of an engine bay like mine:

The plastic cover is not like any Ive ever seen and seems to be combined with airbox?

If there are no screws on it (check) it may be fixed by rubber bayonet. If so the cover would pull up.
There looks enough play on hose to get it up and away for plug change. You could remove hose.

hello, iv got a 2000 clio 1.6 16v which iv been using for track days.

noticed it was a little temper-mental on starting last time i used it but it did always start. now i unlocked with remote started it earlier with no problems. turned it off then it wouldnt start again, tried locking the car with the fob and nothing .central locking wont work...

Hello

I've just bought an 2003 Espace with a HUGE 3.0 V6 Diesel lump in it. It was blowing loads of black sooty smoke under acceleration and on inspection I discovered splits in the intercooler pipe. This was changed and the smoke has gone... almost!

Under harsh acceleration I get an error on the dash - Fuel Injection System Fault - and the car...

I know that the cars are expensive in France. Hard to recommend a Laguna as lots have problems and yet others get great use from them. All the issues mentioned plus listen for gearbox noise from bearings. Great cars when on song.

Just entered my clio for its mot and its failed on air bags with a few other small things but i am really stuck on the airbags with what to do i have had a guy pop by and read the faults, it had P3507, P350C, DF077, DF068, Fault codes have been cleared but P350c still remains, Are there any bodges to get the air bag light to go out ? there is a satnav installed. I cannot get any sound from either the satnav or the radio tho. tried switching source to cd and radio, no sound. been doing some reading and it pretty much says that the error on the satnav screen refers to the radio needing the code to pump out any sound.

Mk 2 Twingo clutch pedal link rod failures

It seems Mk 2 Renault Twingo 1.2 are starting to have failures on their clutch pedal link rods where the rod socket is wearing and becoming detached from the connecting ball link, as mine has. Seems to be starting on 2008/2009 year models.

There's no recall on this fault! but Renault commented they have repaired a number of cars with this...

As explained I just bought a 54 plate Laguna Sport Tourer (estate) and it has the split rear tailgate where the window can be brought up separately from the rear tailgate if needed. When I go to use the rear wiper, nothing actually happens, it doesnt go round and hence doesn't wipe. oh but water does come out. Is there a fuse or a relay somewhere...

I think the wiper arm has seized. I have a replacement arm assembly but it doesn't move either, so will soak it in penetrating fluid for a good while. The wiper assembly has already come away from the glass so that ship has already sailed, I will glue it back with some rear view mirror bonding agent I think.

I have been struggling with this for the past week, trying all sorts to get a replacement power steering rack gaiter fitted to the drivers side of the power steering rack, and I am running out of ideas and the thing is still not fitting.

2001 1.9dci scenic heater resistor

heating fan cut out on my gf's scenic so replaced the resistor then found that the fan itself had died (and taken the replacement resistor with it :~( )

Bought a second had fan that worked (12v battery test) and

got a second hand resistor from ebay looks identical but.....

At the end of the day, even if I do find a failed plug, I am not going to be brave enough to replace it, even with a few gallons of penetrating oil, and hard run to bring head temp up!
