Suspension question

Hi all, I have a 54 plate Launga Estate and I get a knocking from the suspension on the passenger side, not sure wether it is from the front on back. If its the front my brother has told me its probably the drop connections front the strut to the roll bar. I was looking at my brakes the other day on the back and I noticed that the spring is attached at the top, but at the bottom of the spring is basically just goes into the bottom suspension arm and isn't actually held in by anything other than it being in the "bucket" of the lower suspension arm. Also there is a bit of plastic on the base of the spring, I guess to stop it from metal hitting metal when u go over a pothole. Is all of this normal or should something be holding this spring in on the lower suspension arm?

when I drive the car, I seem to have a really bad knocking when I go over a bump or a pothole. I have had tried moving the wheel when it has been jacked up and there is no side to side or top/bottom motion so don't think its the hub or bearing . also had the wheel off and checked the drop bar between the strut and roll bar and that is tight. the anti roll bar itself doesn't seem to have any movement in it either. anyone any ideas what the knocking noise could be on the passenger side at the front?

We had the rear subframe bushes replaced on our previous laguna 2 which was a common issue with them causing knocking on bad surfaces, never had any issues with the front suspension or steering in 5 1/2 yrs and 40k.
