In addition to replacing the glow plugs, have you tested/replaced the glow plug relay? This may not be heating the plugs for long enough. This can be tested by warming the plugs 2 or 3 times before cranking the engine. If it starts better by doing that, then the problem definitely lies in the glow plug system.

The most trouble people seem to have doing this is getting the hub nut off, its a big bugger and it will be very tight.
If its a staked on nut you need a new one to go back on, if its got a pin through it, it goes back on, you need a torque wrench with a suitable (high) capacity.
The gearbox oil needs draining, so fresh oil required there, check...

My old 205 had the lucas filter fitted, I don't remember any fuel escaping at the priming plunger shaft so I wouldn't think it was normal on yours, but probably of little consequence since after bleeding the plunger is screwed down, this is to ensure the pump cylinder is completely sealed.

(outside air via the micro filter) ventilation duct.
Actually the motor is okay only the plastic gear that

your better off buying the proper tool for this job only a couple of quid the multy one is cast and has a tendancy to break easy i think the size is slightly bigger than a quater drive extention you could undo it by putting thi in + a screwdriver to make it fit , but i would go for the tool

Hi Max - You could have been told correctly about the soft engine mounts. Look particularly at the bottom one. A worn CV joint would knock on full lock. They don't usually give a vibration, unless very worn.

Smoke out of exhaust points to a preheating problem. You need to whip the plugs out again and check they are working properly - connect them (carefully!) across the battery and watch how they glow - red hot from the end is what should happen. Anything else and they're shot. If they're OK, check the cable from the preheat relay is in good...

have you tried changing the water temp sensor.. not the gauge controller - the one that goes to the ecu.?
just a thought mate - but other than that - you'd need an FCR check...though I would have thought the dealers would have done that!

I would connect a pressure gauge to the charge sensing pipe that goes to the injection pump, tee it off and run a pipe to the inside of the car, this will tell you the level of boost being generated, if any.
If there is very little or no boost pressure, the wastegate may be suspect on the turbo, if there is boost pressure the fault is likely to be...

Check the rubber gasket between the intercooler and manifold and the pipes on the turbo.
Revcounter gets its info from a sensor in the bellhousing flange facing the back of the flywheel (above diff), could be dodgy or have dodgy wiring.
Yup Pug dealer will want one of your arm's for a remote, see if you can get one from a scrapper and try...

There is a hissing which builds with engine/turbo speed. I assume this is air pressure leaking from turbo somewhere. Seems to pull well though....Common fault?
T'other thing is the revcounter - it seems to swing wildly about only occasionally bothering to check whether or not it's in...

205 Diesel brake problem

Had a similar problem on an old Lada years ago. Turned out to be the rubber pipe between the manifold and servo had collapsed, stopping the vacuum. Could be something like that. Or maybe it could be the one-way valve that connects the pipe to the servo. Worth checking before you lash out on a new pump.

I have a hot problem.
When I turn on the heater-knob regardless if I have auto or not(fan knob) when it should be a regulation towards cold the heater flap motor runs to full heat and remain there.
Only way to get it back is to turn off the ignition-key for a while and then turn on again. If I am lucky then suddenly the flap-motor goes back...

If you mean the steering wheel controls then you may want to look at any of the Sony models that support their wired remote stalk thingy, these have a plug on the back which you can get an adaptor to fit between the car controls and the stereo.

lo all, has anyon fitted a GTi (not GT) front bumper to a 1.1 206 w/o fog lamps? I wanted to know how much you payed to do this. Even though you have said its road speed related I'm a bit inclined to think it could be engine speed related.
Have you tried using a lower gear to determine this, if not then drive along in fourth gear and if its engine related the symptoms should be apparent at a lower speed.
Also can you feel anything through the gear lever when it occurs.

Give it a try because there is nothing to loose, heating up the localised area round the nipple will help, but you really need an oxy torch to pump alot of heat in fast, that way you don't roast the whole caliper.
If the easyout fails try driving the appropriate torx bit in, the splines may get enough purchase to fetch it out.

Well, sounds like you've either got a lying temperature gauge or a temp. switch! The fans and the stop light are connected to temp switches. The fans running on after switching off the engine is normal (as long as the engine is hot, that is) since there's no ram -air being forced through the radiator by the car's motion. You could have a problem...

you really should not notice any difference in the way it drives if you can something is wrong with it. but it will probally be something as simple as a turbo air feed pipe that has been displaced your mechanic should be more than happy to recheck pipes etc for you.
if you have other problems i.e bad starting and knocking noises your belt timing...

Hi Dowdy - My guess would be that you have water in your fuel filter. Some, but not all 205's have an indicator light showing when this happens. At the bottom of the filter housing there is a drain screw to drain off any water, but since the easiest way to get to it is to remove the unit, it would probably be best to change the filter at the same...

The pad's will remain in light contact with the disc on any car, its just the nature of the beast.
There is nothing to pull the piston back nor does it need to be pulled back, the piston advances as the pad wears which means that self adjustment is built in without the need for it to be designed in.

The front disk brakes on my 205 (bendix) are scraping as you spin the wheel.
the disks and pads are practically new. Ive cleaned and greased the sliders, moving fine. The pistons Ive pushed them out 2cm cleaned and greased pushed back in.
They work ok but the only way that I can think they'll stop catching is if the pads wear down...
