I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

I can only agree with you sentiments.
But then I would as much of my occupation is the same as yours, and so are both the vehicle makes I currently run/support.
Sad to say we are now down to just one Series...and a rolling chassis in the hedge at that. Still as long as you have a steering wheel and tax disc holder there's enough to start...

cool, great xmas present (presume wbm is the other half?). I have visions of finding a visa gti that someone bought new and fitted a 1.9 16v into like me but turbo charged etc. Oh and they kept it in a heated garage with a dehumidifier system all its life heh. D'you know Neil, im sure if you replaced all but the plug under the pump it would start fine.
Before i got the ZX it had only 2 functional glow plugs - and still stsrted and ran perfectly (it now has 3 functional glow plugs and still starts and runs well).
Im sure I will be lambasted for doing only half a job (or 3/4 of a job) but lazy is my...

Passive rear steering

Easiest way of explaining it is the Cordiano nee Chapman strut.
Assume that the rear wheels toe in and that they have negative camber.
As the body rolls, the toe in becomes greater on the outer wheel, increasing the turn into the bend.
The disadvantages of the setup are a slight increase in rolling resistance and tyre wear.

Hello, The trim is chrome painted plastic, covered with a laquer.
even fairly vigorous polishing can strip the laquer and then the chrome . TBH the only way round this if they are suffering badly is either to source some new inserts at a scrappers, or have them repainted by on eof the chip away / dentmaster boys. They did my accident damaged...

I have the BX edition and the Xantia one. Both are very good with first class descriptions of jobs. Illustrations not so good since they are only pen sketches. No photographs at all. Don't know if they have improved later editions, but the bindings are terrible. My Xantia copy is almost a pile of single sheets.

i'd speculate that they can be done all beit a tight fit. XM seats will fit into a BX with modification, and XM seats will go into a 405 without too much of a problem. Though thats the front seats, not sure about the backs. Time to ge tthe tape measure out me thinks!

I DO NOT BELIEVE IT!
Just been to the Lock Up, a journey of , oooh about 1.2 miles - just past Bamber Bridge nick, where a (friendly) police man shouted me over to infrm me one of my back lights was out......
So that means its lasted about 8 or 9 hours.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

If the bulbs are 'blowing' electrically as opposed to mechanically failing ie vibration causing the filament to break, then I would first check the alternator voltage.
It may have become unregulated and outputting too high a voltage .
Are you having to top up the battery electrolyte more often?

The Headlamps on my ZX are causing me some problems at teh moment in so much as the wiring loom has shorted twice now and i have lost first my left then my right headlamp - the current state of play is i have side lights, headlamps but not main beam.
I have removed the bulbs for the moment whilst i sort out the reason for a) the car chewing...

A (unhelpful) suggestion is to whip the front wheels of an disconect the wear sensors - tape them up.
However Im not aware that the brake sensor causes the car to actually fail to start.
Have you checked the LHM level in the tank? and does the engine turn over? _ The brake light illuminates if the parking (hand)brake is on so its usuall to see...

I finally managed to get the TZD over to France to get some consumption figures on a decently long run.
Courtesy of a late boat due to bad weather we arrived on clear empty Autoroute.
Over the first 320 miles, I got 32 MPG. I used half a litre of oil, too! Mind you we were quite heavily laden but I did keep the average speed below 100 MPH (Just )...

Was told the same thing a few weeks ago, apparently it has a lower coefficient of expansion too, supposed to improve tyre life and fuel consumption! usually costs about a fiver, have not tried it yet.

Check for rust in the rear chassis inboard of the back wheels. Take a sharp pointy, pokey thing and have a prod around the chassis and wheel arches.
Being a diesel it shouldn't have suffered at the hands of the backwards baseball cap boys.

Going to Bury tomorrow to look at an R plate 1.5D Saxo with 57K. Seems reasonalbly priced and if its in fair nick i may possibly buy it and consign the ZX to the cars I once owned pile.
