There appeared to be a "fashion" for putting the bonnet chevrons on Citroens on upside down at one point. I used to see loads of AXs & BXs with the bonnet badges upside down. It seems to have died out recently, I don’t suppose it’s possible on the later cars that have the badge on the grille.

I always understood it as a secret sign that the car had suffered some damage and the repair was in some way bodged.
By putting the chevrons upside down those in the know are guided away from buying the bodge-up.

I suppose you could even get them put on sideways!
This would be something that an employee of More Than insurance could put on his car,[:D] but I guess he/she would have to look at a maths book to work out the correct way to put it on!
The "fashion" to take V.W. badges off, was brought about by the Beastie Boys many years ago.
So does the Citroen badge "fashion" have a connection with music, or something else[?]

I've no idea how this started, but I always took it to mean that the car had been damaged and then repaired by someone none too professional!

Looking at this E bayer's feedback, and checking their most recently sold items. It's a pity that they could not use a TRAIN of thought to SPOT their, "badge up" (botch up) or down in this case [:D][:D]

indeed probably stupid repairers. I used to work in a repair shop and the daft old bloke putting the badges on used to create some right concoctions. I distinctly remember a lovely mercedes 032E!
