I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

am viewing on the netbook, no settings have been changed, used to be like normal but recently has changed to view like this,

Still cant work out why my air con had leak and appears to have sealed it's self up. I'm sure it's the O ring but as it's still working don't really want too touch it although it means the front under tray which is still in the garden needs to be refitted i guess i will have to put it back on this week. What is everyones opinions on the rat loud popular with the vw crowd think since my car is worth scrap all due to the fact it has 207,000 miles even being a diesel its still seen as not worth anything. Lets say you removed the FAP from a later HDi unit, are you not by doing this (technically) increasing over time its emission output so it should go into a higher road tax band ?

And the same for say an indirect engine where replacing an electronic controlled pump with an earlier mechanical one.

Yes you are correct about that. There is no mechanism in place in the UK for a car to ever have its CO2 emissions reassessed for RFL purposes, a VIN lives and dies with the same official CO2 emissions...

I have a old coded immboilers in my xantia. There doesnt seem to be any pattern. For when i need to put the code in againe. For example went in a petrol station. For a couple of mins in and out. Needed to re code it. Then went in to a shop evern longer. And i didnt have to recode it. Its wierd.

Green, not Emerald - still need to find out its name but its lighter than Emerald - with 12 months MOT. Being 2001 registered (has an early 2000 RP number) it qualifies for cheaper tax so only...

I thought after I'd changed the gearlinkage pin (the one on the crank arm on the box itself, wrong replacement but it fitted and seems better than the old one so never mind plus no grazed knuckles) I'd check the sunroof for leaks before they occurred.

You know how it is, open the roof and pour a little water into the channels, then go and check...

Just checking my credit card receipts...

I went to our local purveyor of petroleum this morning and filled the Activa and Rattiva.

I was charged the right amount for the Activa but a fill of diesel from just under three-quarters full for Rattiva cost only £3.38.

Now I know the HDi is bloody good on fuel and Xantia fuel gauges are not precision...

Hi All,

Whilst reading Car Mechanics magazine I came across a short piece in the 'trader column' about the problems of fitting solid flywheels to engines that were originally supplied with DMFs. According the the piece there's whispers of sheared cranks and the impending court action by a manufacturer.

Anyone heard anymore on this?

Would the 173bhp automatic C5 be in the C5III? Its a rare enough find in a C5II with a manual box, automatics are very thin on the ground.

The S-Max is always the first to go followed by the Audi and then the Billy No Mates Golf.

Golf is duller than crown green bowls, is poorly spec'd, plasticky and sloooooow.

I needed to test a sphere this morning that entails the use of a 12mm spanner to nip up the bleed valve on the tester...

I was vexed to find my favourite 12mm spanner was no nowhere to be found in the toolbox.

In both cases the motors were still working but the windows would not lift or drop without manual assistance. My Dad & me are slowly converting the family to the French car way of life :D

Ive had my Lexia (copy) installed on a laptop for some time, it always asks me to install the Lexia lead n every use and usually it works fine after attempting that a few times. Im sure it can't be right that I need to install the lead every time?

However now it won't install the lead at all, it says there is a problem with the installation and...

Well, in fact its four computers which are networked and need constant updating to run a till system on them. There is also another computer which is about 5 miles away and is also on the network. In a few weeks I have a trip to Northampton for a day for some more training.

Talking to them does help, though the front fell off one I was talking to...

I am using G3+ compound by hand, then Autoglym Radiant Wax. According to my reading of internet comments on the wax this is best sealed over with another product. Normally I wash a dirty-but-clean car with the trade packaged Autoglym shampoo/wax stuff.

Any suggestions (not Zymöl Royal Glaze at £1500/tin, either)?...

Autoglyms bumper gel is very good for this, they do 2, a plastic and vynal dressing (goldy coloured square label) and bumper care (green label), the bumper care is the better for the trims, although works well on rubber window surrounds too, apply thick ish and rub into the trim rather than onto it if you know what I mean, leave till you've donme...

My blue 605 has a weeping waterpump. It leaks a steady fine dribble from the weephole - I've confirmed this as the source. This pump is apparently only a few years old.

Normally, the things which cause a waterpump to weep (seal failure) are sitting still for years (not the case here), or...

Centre operating part looks identical.
Just much less of the outer casing casting than in your V6 photo.
I could not see how the pulley wheel and impellor were fixed to the shaft.

SX C5 hatchbacks with 2.0 engines have a nice design of alloy wheel which I thought might well suit the Xantias shape. Not seen one them before but there is this on ebay which does look rahter good on them in my opinion. Still 15 so will take the correct Xantia sized tyres.
