coded immbolisers citroren and pugeote

Post by jacksun1987 »

I have a old coded immboilers in my xantia. There doesnt seem to be any pattern. For when i need to put the code in againe. For example went in a petrol station. For a couple of mins in and out. Needed to re code it. Then went in to a shop evern longer. And i didnt have to recode it. Its wierd.
Has anyone experiance this

What do you mean ?

You will need to enter your code when it goes back to red...

Its possible on most models to set them to go to "green" when you unlock with the remote, however you only have 30 seconds to switch the ignition on before it goes red again.

If its switching between numbers ( ! ) perhaps its in service mode and is using that code and / or you are setting the "service mode" code...

Need more specifics really.

If its not set for the 30 second delay (only works with remote not door key) then its:

red light flashing
ignition on
red light (not flashing)
enter code
green light

Interesting that!

I "Woke" my V6 SEi XM up on Saturday from a years rest.. connected the battery.. ignition on, and to my surprise the Keypad was on green!!

After battleing with a lazy starter due to a not so healthy battery on the car normal service was resumed in that I had to enter the code after the key was off for a moment or two...

I guess you could always just unplug it when its at green if it annoys too much.

Actually if its resetting itself that might not be a bad idea temporarily to try to see if it still locks without the keypad, which would point to a fault in the ECU and / or CPH unit but that seems a bit far fetched... :-k

That's normal then. After about 30 seconds or so with the ignition switched off, it will go back to wanting the code being entered each time.

The code number should not be changing though, is that what's happening ?

Absolutely, yes. However...

If you stay in the car (i.e. don't open the doors) but do switch off the ignition the 30s no longer applies and you'll find it green when you next switch on the ignition however long you've waited so door opening and closing also has something to do with it...

If the keypad never sees the door signals for whatever reason that might account for it...

May well be the door signal then as Jim pointed out. I'll confess I'd not really even thought about those, was not aware all keypad equipped models used them.

Open / close each door in turn a couple of times (including hatch) and watch the interior lighting / hatch light etc to confirm they do always work or always not work, an intermittent one may well be the cause of its randomness.

Not sure about you lot, but I find the keypad immobilisers an annoyance. No one is going to nick an S1 Xantia these days anyway. I'm so glad the one on RUNN has been disabled! Now I just want a coin tray then I can dispose of the thing altogether and actually use the space it takes up..

Exactly, start the engine, unplug the keypad, fit an oddments tray, inform insurance and don't let them charge you any more.
