POTD random review of 2020

Post by NewcastleFalcon »

A thread to expire tonight but just for amusement I intend to pull out random selections one for each month of pictures posted up on POTD post number 1 last January was this.
POTD started off 2020 with this
NewcastleFalcon wrote: 02 Jan 2020, 13:57 One for POTD Nature Club.

I like Robins. Especially in the winter. Unlike other bird subjects they tend not to flit around as much as other birds, and seem to be fairly tolerant of the incompetent photographer.

Well thanks to this little chap for posing so nicely......not a bad effort if I say so myself.

These were from a previous job. I had to remove the plane wings before I could load it, watched by Storm trooper and Darth Vader, at Elstree Airfield in the UK

It's reasonably close to where I live, and there is some info at the bottom about it which makes for interesting reading - it has a 'first' claim to fame! Anyone work out where / what it is, and its claim to fame?

I rode my bike down the bank on the left of the pipes, which was, er, interesting, as it's rather steep, and covered in beech nut shells, which makes it verrrry slippy

These two trees (red at the back) are never picked, the fruit drops to the ground and rots away every year.

mickthemaverick wrote: 12 Aug 2020, 12:39 Neil, your post about your cameras inspired me to dig out my Canon this morning. I havn't touched it for 15 years so I wasn't sure what I would find. However I plugged it into the charger and after 15 mins I turned it on to find all working as it used to. So I turned it to view and discovered 65 pictures still there for me to use. I had to boot up my Lexia laptop with XP to load the camera software as it would not support Windows 10. That done I downloaded all the photos and transferred them via USB stick to my current laptop. So here are some of my 15+ year old pictures from my garden birds of the time collection:

Went to Consett for stuff for daughter in hospital. The Idea was up the 693 to Consett - big Tesco. Went well, then down the 691 to Durham (hospital) and back up 167, nice triangle.
Did the shopping in Tesco then discovered that my wallet had forgotten to come with me.

Back home, bugger Tesco, just pay through the nose in M&S. Down the 167 to Durham, dump the bag of crap, back up the 167. Wrong turn, back up the 691 to Consett, almost.

Lots and lots of miles and some very interesting sights. It is high up and some beautiful views. Difficult to stop though, lots of traffic today.

Taken with crap camera and misses a lot. Kind of flat and compressed. A few cancer fans can be seen but there are hundreds of them.
From a bit down the road Sunderland can be clearly seen, including the new bridges, sea and Nissan factory.
Must drag the SLR around more :(
Taken from the Tesco car park.
