You must have erased one and written 'duplicated' as I deleted the other one Neil.
Restored now.

If you have a duplicate post, just leave it and we will delete it. We have a 'soft delete' option so deleted posts can be restored.

I saw my Mum today, and on the way back I saw an unusually lit cloud formation. Fortunately there was a service station I could pull into, and I got a few shots. 5 minutes later (when I got home) the lighting had changed, and I would have lost them.

Sorry Mick I didnt pick it up as a challenge at the time or I would have responded earlier :-D

I did photograph a more conventional red admiral on a Buddlia the other day.... I think I prefer my Peacock composition!

I prefer the Peacock as a creature and your composition as a picture, but the Red Admiral has to be the better photograph technically surely? :-D

My normal camera which is a great one for snapping and shooting with and a modest zoom capability took the peacock shot, and another second hand camera which the owners lent me but doesnt want back has up to an 18 X zoom and I am really enjoying being able to get different shots than with my old faithful. Without going mad with the power of photographic equipment your average dedicated twitcher and wildlife photographer goes round with, I am really pleased with some of the pictures I am now able to take which are just beyond the capabilities of my normal camera.

Yes the Red Admiral is in better focus than the peacock!

We have had hundreds if not thousands of butterflies in our field this year, unfortunately they don't keep still long enough for me to photograph them. There are lots of Comas and /or meadow browns but not many of the usual Peacock and red admirals that we usually have. I did see what looked like a cabbage white but with coloured dots on its wings, what was that?

Not exactly coloured spots but the orange tip is fairly widespread and cabbage-white-ey in general appearance. 50 points for an in the wild POTD original photo of an Orange-tip!

Neil, your post about your cameras inspired me to dig out my Canon this morning. I havn't touched it for 15 years so I wasn't sure what I would find. However I plugged it into the charger and after 15 mins I turned it on to find all working as it used to. So I turned it to view and discovered 65 pictures still there for me to use. I had to boot up my Lexia laptop with XP to load the camera software as it would not support Windows 10. That done I downloaded all the photos and transferred them via USB stick to my current laptop. So here are some of my 15+ year old pictures from my garden birds of the time collection:

Excellent. The one I have use of at the moment is a FUJIFine PIX SD2500 with up to 18X zoom, not in its first flush of youth, and requiring 4 AA batteries which have just run out, so I need some Wilko's finest to keep it going.
