Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Very few silver cars in the street, only a couple of white ones - the DS3 behind the red Vauxhall thingy and her daughters white golf.
Next door have a silver Volvo and a red C2.
There's a silver Passat a few doors up. All the rest are red, black, grey, green & blue.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
As I look out of my window now I can see eight cars, only two of which aren't in the grey range, my two!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

My 3400 has clocked up so my customary celebratory car is needed. Looking around at the number of 3400cc cars to choose from there are many options from the sporty:

But for me it has to be the one that my Dad's mate drove throughout petrol rationing on a lawn mower engine:

Remarkable Birds, and a tremendous success story at Kielder. 7 Nests in total
All about to or started their migration to Africa......I wonder why I mean there's enough fish in Kielder Water to keep them going......
Regards Neil

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
It is very simple really. The day length at the equator is roughly the same (for night and day), while as you head closer to the poles the greater the disparity between the length of night and day. During the summer in Scotland there are something like 20 hours of useable daylight (where there is enough light for an Osprey to fish by), and, during the summer, there are far more insects so the fish in the lakes are closer to the surface (and easier to catch). As the season changes the days get shorter (so less time for catching fish) and colder, so the quantity of insects drop, the fish search for food deeper in the water, and are so far harder to catch. Ospreys are (as far as I know) the only bird of prey that does not scoop the fish from the surface but goes in after it (almost like a kingfisher).
I have learnt a lot by watching the Osprey family at Loch Arkaig. The eldest of this years' brood (Doddie, with ring JJ6) was, for several days, seen successfully fishing at Avalon Marshes, Somerset.

When I saw that image from deepest Northumberland, I imagined those two Ospreys might be having this exchange...

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
On a magical mystery tour.
Went to Consett for stuff for daughter in hospital. The Idea was up the 693 to Consett - big Tesco. Went well, then down the 691 to Durham (hospital) and back up 167, nice triangle.
Did the shopping in Tesco then discovered that my wallet had forgotten to come with me.
Back home, bugger Tesco, just pay through the nose in M&S. Down the 167 to Durham, dump the bag of crap, back up the 167. Wrong turn, back up the 691 to Consett, almost.
Lots and lots of miles and some very interesting sights. It is high up and some beautiful views. Difficult to stop though, lots of traffic today.
Taken with crap camera and misses a lot. Kind of flat and compressed. A few cancer fans can be seen but there are hundreds of them.
From a bit down the road Sunderland can be clearly seen, including the new bridges, sea and Nissan factory.
Must drag the SLR around more
Taken from the Tesco car park.

I've got a great deal of affection for Consett Steve but it can be a bit bleak in 1963

As of right now, the number noticer in me has noticed 1066 appearing against my name so the POTD stamp theme continues...

The fanfare is waiting in the wings Mick but I dont unnaturally want to make it arrive. I am wondering if yourself and James will hit the landmark simultaneously without my engineering

Well done Mick, Steve's put you on 1000 and I've put you on 1001.mickthemaverick wrote: ↑01 Sep 2020, 11:53 Here's what I found when I looked at my corresponding number
As is traditional at these moments time to revive the old classic as a fanfare,

My POTD has taken a downturn.
Took my daughters car to the fixers and realised that while fitting the battery, had left one of my cameras on the roof. It didn't stick very well
