Looks like I may need to change the low pressure fuel pump this weekend. It has just started to groan deeply when the ignition is switched on. Instead of a nice high pitch buzz. Is there anything to look out for other than having the replacement O ring. I am getting the pump from GSF today or tomorrow hopefully. Any advice really appreciated....

Well I know I said I'd do the job myself..........but it would have had to been done outside and it was cold and wet
As I had read a post on the Forum recommending Dorys Garage in Sway, New Forest, I took it in this morning ; and picked it up this afternoon. No horror story of rip-off Citroen repairers here:-
Supply and fit two rear...

I recently needed to remove the clock from my Xantia 1.9TD to change the bulb - pre-facelift model, where the clock is situated below the centre ventilation nozzles and sits between the alarm light and the hazard warning switch, but after reading the Haynes manual I thought it might be easier to change the car.
Haynes would have you believe that...

My dTI Laggy got shunted last week and is a write off , so I'm on the lookout for a high mileage (but mint ) Cit.

I don't need another family sized car , but I'm on the motorway a lot so I still need something reasonably comfy. So I've narrowed it down to a Xsara or a C5 circa 2001. The stock 110bhp Xsara has a 0-60 of 10.0secs which is pretty...

I have been offered a pair of new spheres for the rear of a Xantia saloon 1.9td / 2.0 8 + 16v. Cit code 95 666 862. My estate require 5272 40 spheres. Would it be possible to fit the 1st pair and what would the out come be i.e softer/harder ride e.t.c. Or is it a complete no no. If I don't want them he has someone else who want's them but he gave...

Hi, As i have not got a owners handbook for my hdi xantia 2000, can anyone please tell me if the rear passenger electric window is on a different fuse from the other 3. The other 3 are working 100% buy there seems to be no power getting to the rear passenger one..Thanks in advance...Colin

Hi Guys, first posting on the NEW forum.........
My HRW wasnt working on my Xantia and after chacking the relay I decided to check power to the window itself. Power was there.
So I checked the earth wire, nothing, no circuit. So something said to me, remove the panel from off the tailgate. I did this and found the earth wire had burnt out,...

You could service only the front ones, has apparently there is no need to get rid of still good rear ones.
Those 20.000 miles were hwo long ago?
If i'm not mistaken, shelf life is around 2 years. You could always build yourself a sphere pressure tester to see how they are going along, and if needed regass the. By the time,as they weren't serviced,...

try contacting your local gsf store about the sensors you can get to the gsf site by clicking home at top of the page ask them if their sensors come in pairs or not

Alec,
If you can expain more clearly what you want I will try some experiments on my estate.
If I understand you correctly you mean that the side doors have a pert latched condition where they are neither fully shut but cannot be opened without using the handle. On my estate rear door I just let it shut under its own weight and it normally...

scrappers are probably your best bet.

I have finally found the fault on the alarm. I mentioned a bit about it on my previous post about locating the ecu (at the time I couldn't locate the fault so I wanted to disconnect the alarm). Anyway I have traced it to the boot lock so I took of the boot card and closed the boot and set the alarm. Now all is o.k until you push against the boot...

Just to add to this I have spoken to a couple of dealers who both couldn't pin point the ecu but one said it looked like it was under the bonnet (following pictures on his computer). Also they mention a key switch under the bonnet to disable the alarm/siren. But again knew nothing about it.

I have the same problem. Removed the trim and the liner to get at the actuating so establish the problem - it never missed a beat. So i cleaned and lubricated everything, still working, reassembled - same situation as before I stripped it. I cannot see how the trim would cause the problem. I am now begining to suspect a wiring problem as in a...

Sounds like bearings - never done it myself but a search on here will reveal all. Its much the same as a BX so those postings will be valid as well.
Sounds nice to do both but near side do seem to fail first so its up to you. As they are separate you will be doing them one at a time anyway.
I think you will need a new plastic tube which comes in...

Marty said about fuse 17 I just found the post again. I wondered if that is on the older Xantias.

Well you could eliminate the volumetric ultrasonics by using the disable button when you lock it. If the alarm still goes off for no reason then at least you will know that it's probably not a duff transducer. Might be worth checking the state of the battery also, and the terminals which are less than reliable.

ANYONE!

yes

no, the headlights & bonnets are a different shape

Sorry CONVERSION DOH

Fixed the problem. Johnny was spot on, a wire in the flexible rubber between the B pillar and the rear door had snapped. Bit of a sod to get at but managed to solder it back together. Thank's Johnny

You dont change these filters.
As they are made of a nylon mesh - they are unclipped and cleaned in any detergent (even petrol).
Of course if they are damaged i.e. ripped in the mesh you change them - but they wont be unless last cleaning proces was done very careless.

Every interior light I've seen is simply operated by a push switch in the door hinge face. Citroen ones are black plastic and are fixed with a single screw and sometimes have a rubber gasket and cost about £1.50 from GSF.
Find the switch, unscrew it and take it out. there should be a single wire on the back. Earth this wire to the bodywork and the...

As far as i know they are 2.0ltr.90/110 in the Xantia.
In other PSA cars,theres also 1.4 HDI,70/90bhp.2.2 136 bhp,the new 16V 2.0 136bhp.2.8 128 bhp in vans.
1.9 must just be a misprint.

HAve you checked the permanent live to the unit? Could be loose.

You mean my old telltale : LHM fluid service

Well the usual reason for using Hydraflsuh is because the system is full of crap.
The LHM tank has a white plastic disc in the bottom and the crap accumulates under that so if you just syphon it out, you get rid of the old LHM but then leave all the garbage in there which will be stirred up as soon as you fill with the flusher and can possibly...

Blimy the more I think about the car the more problems I remember. My next is the fuel pump in the Fuel tank. Do they hum quite loudly from time to time and is it anything to worry about or should I just put up with it? I am assuming it's the pump as it's from under the o/s rear footwell and doesn't change with engine speed.

I too have noticed this upgrade on ebay and must say that I'm tempted to try it on my Xantia HDI 110. I will wait for feedback from others first.

depends on the colour of the fluid and whether you can be bothered really. I've just hydraflushed mine and despite the LHM previously being green the ammount of muck that came out with the hydraflush was very surprising. I would advise doing it tbh. Then you know it's done and won't need to do it for a while. It will help with the performance of...

Hi,
Pollen filters from GSF are only £8+. Even with postage they are still £8 less than you are being charged. Nearly a - Buy One Get One Free, .

leave it in its normal position,if if sinks,it sinks!!
wont hurt it!

Hi Alec,
I have fitted parking sensors to my Xantia. Fairly straight forward, but watch out where you position the control unit and have it so the unit is pointing downwards, as I didn't and water leaked into the boot and into the control unit I was lucky and it dried out okay. Another thing, if you can, position the bleeper under the dash as it...

Anything between £3K and £4K I would say - Try www.parkers.co.uk for a price and also looking at www.autotrader.co.uk and comparing prices for similar cars.

Will be having a look today so will let you know the results.

1) Bottom ball joint
2) Steering rod joint a) outer b) inner
3) Steering rack mountings
4) Inner lower suspension bushes
5) Drop links (again?)
6) Worn steering pinion
I'd check them in that order.

Sure it's not the exhaust playing up?

Hi, the door switch is integrated into the lock itself. Personally If you dont need the light going on with that door, I wouldnt risk fiddling with the lock.
Paul

Look on the A/C forum If you DON'T want the A/C to come on Automatically on W/screen setting. Hope is of any use to anyone.

itll be your drop links mine done the same cost £12.50 per side and 10 mins to change them its a different car to drive now fells much tighter.
dont bother trying to unscrew nuts cut them off as you get new ones with the links and make sure you get the right ones as i think theres 3 types just have a good look at yours ie which way the nuts are

Whether to use or not to use! Depends on how the system has been treated in its past life. If changes have been neglected, giving it a flush would help. What does the old LHM look like? If it's a bright green, don't bother. If it's muddy brown, then use it.

I had an A/C control panel apart a few months ago and I only remember one bulb. But to get to it, you Remove the radio surround (a couple of screws at the bottom, and ease out the clips at the side) Remove the screws holding in the control panel Ease out the control panel (be careful not to stretch or kink the cables) The top cover unclips from...

Correctly inflated tyres are good for :
* safety
* handling
* comfort
* mileage : fuel and tyres
Despite this very simple task, most owners only have the inflation checked when car is in for service - or the occasional flat on the highway

You may or may not find the discs almost impossible to remove. When I did mine, the o/s fell off after removing the screws, but the n/s needed persuading with a lump hammer. Before mounting the new disc, clean off any rust, otherwise they might not run true. When bleeding the brakes, go gently with a RING spanner on the bleed nipples. I find they...

Morning Alec, sad this one at this hour should still be in bed!!
How much does it sink? My estate settles a bit, just a few millimeters but that is usually after the dog has got out and he weighs in at 50kgs. It usually drops a little once the brakes have been released after stopping and then picks up. All of this really indicates that the rear...

Try the web for empire direct for your speakers. They give some good info on what to use and don't baffle you with techno babble. Another good point is they are a couple of quid cheaper on the whole even with the postage. I fiited a Sony head unit in to a Vauxhall Frontera some years back and up graded to standard Sony speakers and the sound...

Yup, three. One on each suspension arm and one in the middle. However the one in the middle has a small pipe connected to it. The hint is to hold the pipe nut and turn the sphere off it. Not the other way round because it is likely to be siezed on the pipe and turning the nut would shear the pipe off.
While you are there check the height control...

Hi everyone, I have finally fitted my Sony headunit with the correct lead for the later Xantia's steering control's. The lead is a PC9 - 125 to fit the Mini ISO lead that the later Xantia had. Now just got to sort out the speakers.
Alec...........

have a look at halfords' guide book, it will tell you which speakers will fit.
