Re the 407 door seal issue and airbag warnings, after a few days of rain and testing with the hose, I gave up as water was still pooling on top of the bottom door seal and then running inside the car.

My solution was to put a few holes thru the seal with a leather hole punch tool which seems to allow the water to exit (the door seal gets squashed...

This is just to help me fill gaps and correct anything really. Please consider it questions from the curious and my knowledge of this model is very very sparse indeed.

What I um think I know ... Likely wrong.

Early models did not have the 'valve' to prevent sinking so they would slowly drop when turned off. I think this came in about 1995 ?...

Repair Instrument Circuit board.....Xantia

Not mine but a V6 Activa owner in Brazil

The Fuel and Speedo have stopped and he reports problems with the circuit board being the problem....not sure what exactly the problem is atm so a bit of a general question
Can they (assume corroded/broken) repaired ?

Or...if anybody has one....would you sell it...

I concur, if you look carefully at each joint, especially the ones on the connectors you will often see a crack in the solder around the connection, just run some solder onto the joint making sure it has all melted together, don't leave the soldering iron on there to long or all the flux will evaporate, the joint should be shiny when done.

:) Honest these are not trick questions.

1. I do see occasional references to the updated solenoids. From what I can gather the newer ones are B.W and a software update for the trans ECU is *compulsory* for these. My question is simply this as if I had one I'm not sure I'd trust the dealer to fit them, but the question being what um 'state' is...

I'm aware of that 'level' check procedure for later 4HP's then from other marques, although they involve measuring the oil temp (typically the level will only be right for the 'side...

The tractor cuts in front of the van, the van piles on the ancors with delayed reaction, the bus driver seems to have just been woken up by the whole event and tugged randomly at the wheel as there was nothing on his o/s and nothing in front yet he turned towards the danger and the truck closing fast on the van which braked very late was forced to...

So not too been on this forum for long, but can not work out if this used to be a citroën only forum, or if a citroën forum closed down and they all came here?

The reason I say this is because the citroën section of the forum is by far the most active. So not sure if they are a load of rubbish and break down every 5 mins :mrgreen:

Statistically, the most unreliable cars I've ever had are Xantia V6s... The only cars in recent times that have left me stranded and needed flat-bedding home... Once for an ignition coil failure and the other for a show-stopping hydraulic leak...

The previous to suffer such a fate was a Volvo 340...

Strange one (for me)

In the Activa I have a fitted Sony head unit with a AutoLeads adaptor and wheel control lead, works great.
I have a multi plug with the feed taken from the ciggi lighter power supply....works great

IF I plug in any of the phone chargers etc, reception quality drops.

I hate wires and have a mental block on sparkie stuff :)

Of course the usual suspects (Japanese) came top of the list for reliability. Love them or hate them, you can't deny Japanese cars are reliable... (I've owned an 88 Honda Accord before and while it rusted a lot it was reliable as anything in other regards and never let me down)

Strangely enough I have a C5 and a 406, both with almost identical mechanics, the 406 has never put a foot wrong in 60,000 miles, the C5 on the other hand has broken down several times in about 20k.

I still haven't got my refund for the first clutch I got from Mr auto due to their system classifying the activa as a 2.0 16v. I don't know how to do a screenshot so I hope this works. I nearly fell off the chair when I read it!

Looking at the C5x7
~

Interesting the Warranty value is low but the user value (bottom) is med/high

and that the C5Mk1/=face is higher than the X7 (the German Citroen)

I'm guessing the various specific faults would mainly be....
Air conditioning 10.37% - holed condenser or leaking pipe (common early fault).
Axle & Suspension 15.85% - leaking front Hydractive struts ?
Steering system 14.02% - obviously the rubbishy leaking steering rack and/or pipe joins.
Electrical 30.79% - Duff BSI/fusebox ? That surely can't...

In my collection of automotive artefacts I have quite a thick booklet of Renault's Range of Cars available in January 1979...

I was amazed at just what an extensive range it was!

The R4, R5, R12, R14, R15/17 ( 8-)), R16, R18, R20 and R30 :o

I was quite amazed to see the R16 will still available at such a late date...

It's a lovely booklet...

Well having tried out one of these in London, and used it several times.

It would appear that there is also a place in the Milton Keynes area.

I first found about the former when it was featured on 5th Gear.

So for those in the MK area the latter could prove to be a useful place.

I have got the following controller box

I have the DRL led's connected to their feed wires as shown
I have a pick up from the Side lights live feed side to the bulbs, direct to the yellow wires

Now the problem I am getting is I get LIVE on the Black (Earth) wire when I turn on the sidelights before I connect them to the battery (temp to test...

I also dislike the stuck on look. You're method may well change my mind about fitting them to my Xantia. I like technology blended into old cars to look OEM. Fitting an invisible wireless phone charger to the front oddment tray on mine is on my mind currently.

Regarding the insurance I wouldn't tell them if it looked OEM. If they were just hung...

chaps..where I live right now, I have wifi access from a router somewhere.BT broadband. I think the landlord has 2 routers and 2 lines.. my router maybe for tenants..

I would like BT sport, but not sure how I can watch it.. if I go to the BT sport website, I can only watch if its activated.. which needs a BT id and password..
am I right in...

I have been asked why a 307 would throw a Anti Pollution fault after a rubber mat got stuck under the throttle.

Any comments ?

Also....my Lexia will not read the car.....I have one with 7.02 installed

I don't bother with tape at all as I have a dual bay NAS that I can easily grab in the case of a fire as all two connections on it, power and Ethernet will disconnect with the slightest amount of force so I could grab it in the case of fire and such like but am also installing a second one remotely that will do daily synchs over tinterwebs.

As discussed in my Xantia seats thread , I have become interested in replacing my cloth Activa seats with leather seats, as they have a bit more functionality.

I've found a whole set of Activa leather seats near Mulhouse in France. Now that's a long drive from where I live (Copenhagen, Denmark), but as luck would have it, I am actually passing...

Tomorrow, Friday the 26th of February in the year 2016 i am about to embark on a terrifying journey.

All in all not a bad day. First time on a train for 40+ years, Collected by Stickyfinger at the station. He even let me drive the Tourer back to his place. Nice drive i must admit. Keep it on the list for a future car.

IF you could obtain any NEW PARTS for a Xantia, what parts would you like to have/Will need soon ?

Glass, Electrical, Suspension, Body panels, Engine/Cooling.

Please try and think about what you would need to pay for fitting and the cost of that if you do not do DIY.

Yeah both would be the face lifts, the other option for us would be a 5 and a 7 seat C-Max, which because of where I work would be a little common. I also think Peugeots tend to have better a better ride than Fords for my style of driving.
