I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Hi,

I need to work out which fuse is for what in the dashboard mounted fusebox on my '96 Activa. The rating of the fuses doesn't seem to coincide with either the list in the handbook or haynes. These two lists also don't match each other either!

This all stems from getting hold of a set of leather electric seats which I am hoping to find a power...

Saved it last week and have carried out a basic assesment on what it needs to make it into a very good example.

It is a Nov 1995 build, very early. It has no A/C, however it has an electric sunroof in lieu of this, a typical factory option at the time.

Im quite surprised really as the coupe was a turbo too and would have killed itself by now im sure of it if it had a hose pope and the old R5 GTT would definately have blown its HG into the dust :)

Hopefully tomorrow the strut top will be an easy job for them as well, ill also see if they can do a quick lexia on it as im sure the suspension ecu...

My question is - is the electrovalve on the Activa block energised to switch the Activa sphere into the circuit to give a softer anti roll bar for straight line driving, or is it de energised to switch the sphere into service.

I know that the front and rear hydractive electrovalves are energised to switch to soft mode but, I'm sure I read...

My silver Mk1 Activa has a dent in the NSF wing. Would like to replace the wing with good used one. Does anyone out there have one in silver? Which other Xantia wings can I use? Is it only Mk1 Activa / VSX Turbo / 2.1 TD / V6 that fit or can I use Mk2 wings?

Bit silly really, but i spotted one of those green Activa's again in Norwich and have gone and bought it...!

Its an early N reg, with sunroof but no A/C. Completely dead accumalator sphere but no leaks, the rams are bone dry. Its the BRG colour which is very nice. Another downside is the strut tops have had it so its not going to be driven until...

My local garage fitted a new exhaust today. I arrived back there halfway through, and was alarmed to see that the old one had been 'made' to fit by bending the back of the front sub-frame. Bastards! :evil: Anyway, no more knocking. Actually, no more engine noise except a pleasant smooth...

Hi to all. I recently bought a '96 Activa & the tread's a little low. I'm looking to upgrade the wheels, currently there's a set of steels on there. Thinking of getting a set of 17 Alloys & running 225/45/17 tyres. (or 225/40/17)

Rear Ram wear in top Ball Joint

Today I've had the rear ram off to check for an LHM leak. Sure enough, the leak is from the low pressure leak off pipe. So, I put some Orange Hermatite Silicon sealant around it.

But, I was alarmed to feel loads of play at the top end of the ram where it bolts to the anti roll bar.

I stripped the gaiter off and there is a ball joint....

De-pressurize the hydraulic system in the normal way then move the balancing linkage side to side until the balancing rams are no longer able to move the car from side to side, then undo the nipple on the rear balancing sphere to release any residual pressure left within the balancing circuit. Undo the hoses from the metal supply pipes and remove...

If you take your spare wheel out and take off the spare wheel carrier you'll be able to get to the nipple a lot easier.

You need to put a plastic pipe on the nipple with the end in a bottle to catch the LHM which may squirt out when the nipple is cracked with your 8 mm spanner.

Some models - Activas, V6s and maybe the diesels - use a different spec lower arm, spindle and hub.

What exactly is different about these parts (Series II)? I note the hub uses the same bearing as all others, and the lower control arm pivot bushes are the same (as are balljoints).

Do they come with a different camber setting? Different track...

Last I heard it had gone to Brighton or something, but not sure what it's fate was.

Was owned by a mate of mine. His pride and joy for a period of time, he fitted decent tyres and Activa leather to it. Sold to make way for a big fast Jap thing.

I believe it was bought for around £600 off ebay about 2-3years ago.

Sadly ive just been laid off from work, not lost me job yet lol, and my Activa has to go . Car runs fine and has been used for a 55 mile round trip journey to work everyday with no problems.

Bad points . Rear brakes need doing for MOT , suspension has just started to get bouncy , still goes up and down ok . Needs passenger door mirror ,one of...

Low turbo boost

I just today installed a turbo boost gauge to my TurboCT (same engine as activa, normal VSX suspension) and I've never been able to get it to read over 5psi.

Somethings wrong, right? I've read it should read almost 9psi. Engine feels powerful, but not neck breaking...

No engine codes, all hoses connected. Any pointers where I should start...

I tried to pressurize the boost circuit. It leaks so much I never got the pressure up with my smalish compressor to pinpoint the leak, thats why I am taking the intercooler out. It must have a huge crack.

Tried today to take the radiator out... now joy. Battery side has enough clearance, wiht the battery and tray removed, but the other side does...

Remove the radiator and the intercooler will come out with it.

Just be very careful of the bayonet hose connectors, especially the bottom one. Access is poor and corrosion can be a big problem :twisted:

Does anyone know how sophisticated the active suspension ECU is?

What I'm wondering, is how much it relies on default tables vs how much it just balances input and output. Based on popular experiences of fault modes, I presume when a feedback (sensor) value is out of range it defaults to some lesser state of operation. Before that threshold is...

Recently on Top Gear there was a feature on comedy handling cars so they picked some cars to test and they featured the Toyota Prius, Produra Henari, and the Smart Car.

I have a contact for an Activa for sale. Owner needs to sell so it is cheap and the price will be better than the ones recently sold on Ebay.

OK, a question: How are the ends created on an Activa rear bar? On a standard they are clearly forged in, but it appears the Activa's bar ends are possibly splined or flatted, to permanently fit the small lever arms.

What I'm looking at, is the possible need to build or modify a rear bar to suit an Estate Activa .

The ARB on the Activa is totally different to the normal one and very thick. In fact, when the SC/CVAR electrovale is closed, there is no give in the ARB whatsoever; it is rigid. The only softening of the ARB comes about through the action of the SC/CAR balancing sphere acting as a spring effectively on the ends of both front and rear...

At least RHD one's as they've hit rock bottom and are barely fetching scrap
weight value now and the only folk who want to buy them are guys with small
cars who can't wait to scrap this fantastic and getting rare Xantia.

Yup, insurance is an odd thing, they seem to have get out clauses for everything. So the only way is the proper way! Luckily my no claims bonus is stacking up well, having never had to make a claim, so i hope insurance should come down over another year or so.

Does anybody have a response from Citroén as to why they still have not released another ACTIVA model?

The new C5 with its big 17 wheels would grip like glue with an Activa system in.

I think we should pester Citroén france and england to death to get an Activa in their range again!

I love my Xantia Activa, but its 9 years old now, parts are...

I think your right Andrew.

Citroen does appear to be moving away from its advantage ever so slightly. I can see it getting slowly phased out, probably more down to cost than anything else.

I would think a fair number of new C5 buyers are buying on style and not the ride quality or the other advantages of the hydractive system.

The car is going around quickly, and a look at the speedo at one point shows 50kph, although it could have also been going faster than that at other times.

HydraFlush issue

Hello Gents

Just added HydraFlush (Total) on my 1997 V6 Activa and noticed that the timeframe is now just under 5 sec...(prior to HydraFlush about 30 sek.) until the pressure warning lights shuts off.

It looks like its ready, when the light come off, but i can feel that the car is still on its way up, slowly.. but still upwards toward the drive...

I would think you should bleed the brakes until the hydraurincage fluid comes through, also.

Just made that bit today, and with factory rims, you can forget about wenting from the outside i might add :evil:
So wheel off, block the trailarm up to release the brake valve open, one wheel at a time....

I see what you are trying to do, but as I had said on another thread, the amount of gear that has to be stripped out and replaced would mean the car would have to be off the road whilst undertaking the work. I donot think it will be plug and play for want of a better expression and as you are fitting a whole system, it cannot be done...

Whilst I've really enjoyed my (1 week) of Activa ownership so far, a couple of problems have been bugging me. One is the brakes (covered in another thread) which hopefully will be sorted out with a thorough bleeding.

The other problem is a clunk when changing gear, or especially when pulling away. This has become increasingly annoying / worrying,...

Hello James, if your height correctors are seized, they are rebuildable, much as Citroen and garages say they are not. You just need to be careful taking them apart.

This picture shows a cover for the double din head unit in an Xantia Activa, this is a car to French specifications.

Is this a component that was fitted to U.K. spec cars at all?

I think I have seen this before on a U.K. spec BX.

Once made the mistake of resting the mobile phone on it as a handy tray while driving. A solid bump and the lid gracefully folded up, trapping the phone - which then slipped sideways to the bottom of the cover and excluded it from opening again...

All this directly on the way to a Citroën club...
