I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Juliet needs a new rear box, and Eurocarparts have quoted me £100 for it, while the cheapest I've found with a quick search (including new clamp and mounts) is £82.

Cooling fans not working correctly

Today, after stopping the car for only a few minutes, it refused to start again. Wouldn't turn over, just clicked. After a few minutes, it starts up, but the turning over seemed a bit sluggish . I figure the engine overheated, so after driving home, I left the engine running, opened the bonnet and listened for the cooling fans, which are on....

If the starter works fine when cold than I'd say it was not on it's way just yet. Give it another few tests when the engine is really hot and the fans are running to see if the problem is repeatable.

How often does your Activa Tick ?

I've tried to listen to my Activa and I can't hear any ticks from the pressure regulator.

Occasionally I hear a click which could be a tick but it doesn't happen on a regular basis. Maybe once every 2 to 3 minutes.

The accumulator sphere is new and all the other spheres are no older than 3 years.

The STOP light goes out about 30 to 40 secs...

Hi Adam,

Yes, basically the only difference electrically in the loom is the addition of a pair of wires for the Activa Electrovalve.

There is no front ram control block. It's all done from the back.

The Activa electrovalve is mounted on the Activa Balancing Sphere Block (it looks just like a Hydractive block) on the rear subframe on a bracket.

My Activa is still very bouncy for the first minute or so after start up. I've had my rear electrovalve off again and extended the small spring a lot more than I did last time. On the subjext of pipes, have a natter with Pleiades . They can make up any pipes you're likely to need.

Which pipes in particular are you concerned about? It is very rare on a Xantia for any pipes to give a lot of bother.

Feels really good, nice and tight but the radio code doesn't work that i have in the handbook!!

Gunna have to either fork out for citroen to get it, which now also apparently means i have to pull out the radio so they can get the serial number off it or try those online generator things which never seemed to work for me before...

Found this on the web, it makes very interesting reading. Particulary the points about it rolling through the slalom test. I though it was just mine where the steering seems to lose assistance in some circumstances, and also the roll that you can get in certain circumstances (usually low speed, sharp turns)

Looks like the clutch has gone on my a/c unit.
(Only got myself to blame - I never used it enough)

One of the weak points on my car is the intercooler set up. It sandwiched between the rad and air con rad, so suffers alot from heat soak. Because the air con rad sits in of it, this means its airflow will be restricted aswell.

This is a quick guide based on my experience gained so far.

As standard, the Activa has 150 bhp and 171 lbft of torque produced at 2500rpm. Its classed as a low pressure unit and designed to produce a constant and flat torque curve instead of a traditional turbo wallop.

If its a 16v, even more reason to make sure its saved and goes to an enthusiast.

In a straight line not even a V6 manual would be able to keep up with a 16v BX, i know of a stock one that done the 1/4 mile in 15.1, that is rapid even today and only .2 seconds slower than an Escort Cosworth standard.

IMHO is not now the time to buy a cheap V6 Exclusive, an equally cheap or cheaper Activa and make 1 mega motor out of the 2?

I've had my V6 converted Activa for about 2 years now and it still makes me grin every time I drive it.

Yip, so rare tha a search on ebay rarely brings one up for sale but just last week there were two for sale at once!

They come up about once every 2 months or less but are often as spares or repairs as MOT failures or the like and have often been bought by Pug owners just for the engines, just like XM's and 406 Exec/SRi's i'd imagine...

Over the last few days i've noticed on a certain roundabout on my journey to work that i can keep a fair amount of momentum up going round it due to the grip offered on its surface as well as the slight camber and the good old ARCS :D however keeping the momentum up causes a side affect i don't experience anywhere else with the car :(

I've refitted Juliet's roll corrector, however to do so I had to remove the arms which connect to the wishbones.
The N/S was fine, but the other has sheered it's head off.
It looks pretty rusted in place.
Any ideas?

Been trying to stop my car from pinking & run smoother.

Obviously the first thing I did was replaced the plugs & air filter.
I used to run it on standard Sainsbury's unleaded because it was convenient & cheap but had pinking problems.

I disconnected the battery for a few hours to reset the ECU, went better for a while & was smother until it...

Go V-power! Filled the tank up with it on Thursday, it seems to have stopped the pinking problem. :D :D Gave it a few runs where I know it always pinked - steep hill, second or third gear, 2,000 RPM medium throtle. It's not cheap tho @ £1.11 per liter.

Ouch! 107.9 here. I treated mine to some injector cleaner, will see if i notice any...

A while back, i slightly overfilled my sump, easy to do if the dipstick is shot! The rubber section had hardened and bits fallen off, so i could only get an approxmate level when i topped up. As it happens it was only slightly over when the dipstick was replaced, had to order one from Citroen.

My Activa seems to be developing a new problem every week at the moment! Most are little and easily solved but this one has flumoxed me over the weekend and tonight :evil: .

Over bumps, there is quite a heavy clonking noise from the front end. It is coming from the right hand side of the car and is most pronounced when the right front wheel...

Mee too although the Activa only has one conventional drop link as the other side is the Activa Ram.

The RH one is the conventional one and worth a good check as it takes little wear in them to make a terrible racket.

It's rare, but not unknown, for the balljoint on the top of the Ram to get sloppy byt then the noise would be on the LH side......

Strange rear end

My rear end began to behave strangly after the car had been standing still for a couple of weeks. It's rather firm and gives poor comfort under certain driving conditions (sharp irregularities e.g. pot holes, joints). Sharp turns on uneven surfaces makes the car rock sidewise, but this may be the normal operation of the activa system.

That'll do the job Adam :D I'm surprised as normally the crank bolt on petrol engines is not that tight. A decent breaker bar normally does the trick.

If not, revert to the starter motor method; Put a 22mm socket on a good T bar and jam this under the wishbone. Making sure the engine cannot start, give the starter just a very quick run. The crank...

Does anyone know where you can get the anti-roll control rods (13) from? I replaced the bearings (16) to stop it 'dancing' but the rods are very worn as well. Yeomans Citroen said they were £40 but they would have to order them which was going to take some time.

With the new rods fitted, measuring from the subframe it sits about 5mm higher on one side, I think the guide says something like within 1mm but when it's adjusting the height as you're correcting the lean it's quite tricky.

I think you're allowed 5mm!

Mine always sunk to the left when parked before the new rods were fitted, but sits straight...

Knocking noise from rear of car

Hi...

This is my first post so hi to you all...

Had my 2000 Activa for 2 years now and love it

over the past year I have noticed that I have a knocking sound coming
from the rear wheel area I think, only noticeable when going slowly on bumpy surfaces..

Any ideas...?

Right im going to replace all the discs and pads on my car as im tired of the squeeking from the rear so that means the calipers are coming off as well to sort that out but most likely means the discs and pads there are scrap, adn the fronts are getting low so i'd rather replace the lot in one go though its going to be a very busy time doing it...

Oh No, Dreaded STOP light is coming on...

Since yesterday the STOP light is coming on on its own, just after the car gets to correct hieght after start up and has settled the normal STOP and HIEGHT type lights go out and it then comes back on but once the car moves it goes off. Then it will come on again during braking within the next 2-3 miles and not come on again for the rest of the...

Ok on further investigation and as the water was getting used more i have found that one of the pipes i put in for the patch job on the hose that perished had gone heart shaped.. Possibly due to the jubilee clip being too tight and the heat. It was then allowing water to dribble past it so i could spot under the engine where the water was roughly...

Looks like both rams have leaks :( .

All in all it was very saveable. Very confusing actually as the tyres, like I said, are new as was the exhaust (which I also bought). So WHY WAS IT SCRAPPED?

Activa badge on hatch - Is this original?

Hi,

Slightly nerdy post this one............. but my Activa ('96 on a P) has an Activa badge on the hatch which is the negative of the ones on the doors, ie chrome writing on a black background. This isn't something I see on any pics of other cars on this forum. Is it original?

Im guessing that currently the only source of new spheres is Citroen??

If say i bought an activa that needed a new accumulator and set of rear spheres how much are we talking?

Do Plaides(spelling) sell these at all, jim i know you got yours recharged a while ago i think it was but if one is totally flat i guess its only value is of scrap metal?...

Yeah the rears had gone so bad they had been punctured but they were cit original's like all the othere spheres i've seen on it so i'm guessing somewhere along the lines they have all or some of them have been replaced, especially since it was used to tow a caravan as well for a while from what i can tell :)

It explains why there was an LHM top...

I'm after some advice on what type of manual boost controler/valve to get for the xantia?

Is there any type that i could get second hand off of another car that would work sufficiently?

Light green Activa on the A10 today

I had a rare spot today around 10.30am travelling northbound towards Buntingford by way of a W reg Activa in light green, not only did it have the Activa badge on the bootlid but it was being used with a fair degree of spirit through roundabouts which revealed it was the genuine thing :D is it anyone on here?

I've just been reading the Citroen 'bible' regarding the various systems employed (H1, H2, Activa, etc.). It mentions that H1 cars have electro-optical height sensors front and rear. There is no mention of this being different in later versions. Can anyone confirm or deny if these exist on H2 / Activa cars? I've never heard of them before, and...

I thought the steering angle sensor was opto-electronic?

I believe it is.

The Citroen guide talks of the height sensor (only one on the front anti-roll bar now that I re-read it) consisting of 2 infrared beams and a disc with 45 slots. Come to think of it, the Lexia has a Body Steps reading - that must come from this sensor.

Sorry, this isn't a reply to tell you that I have an Activa in Scotland, more to tell you that if you sample driving one, you will be hooked so be warned!

I actually bought my car FROM Scotland. Just the drive from Leuchars into St Andrews was enough to get me hooked...... I then drove it the rest of the way home to West Yorks. Still smitten...

I can see the fittings for it on mine but its been blanked off on it for some reason....

hmmm :) spotted one thats being broken on ebay so may ask about the recirc dumpvalve.

Hopefuly i'll have got the fault codes in the hydractive and ARCS ecu's cleared but we will see :)
