I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Hi,

My Activa is off the road at the moment and I'm missing it!! There's nowt major wrong with it and it still has MOT. Ideally I'd put it on the road alongside my TD Estate but money is tight :( .

Was wondering if anyone has one insured on a classic/limited miles policy and if so, how much they've paid and with which company.

its good in the dry but in the wet its not so good and snow is pretty poo.

I was lucky enough to borrow a friends private road on his farm... so decided to do a 0-60 in the Activa to see what it looked like. Wheelspin in 1st excepted, i make it a fraction under 8 seconds, which is not bad for 3 up and hot air!

Thanks for pointing those out.

I think I'd rather go down the route of converting one with a knackered engine then import one at the moment. Insurance on imported cars is usually higher then it is on modified cars apparently.

The LPG'd one I wouldn't go near after the experiences I've had on the last 2 LPG cars I've owned. Both kits...

I ran a quick scan on my Activa last night with the Lexia just to see if anything was detected.

Found 3 faults, one was the central locking, and one was the airbags but both of them were apparently created by a low voltage from the battery which figures as the battery in it is a knackered one that will just start it to move it around the shed....

Right, having swapped the insurance over I've taken the Activa on a quick drive round the block to the shop. The ARCS seems to work though cannot build enough speed to confirm. We are not blessed with as many roundabouts as Milton Keynes!

It seems to do the Activa-shuffle and had sunk overnight. Is this normal?

I really want a V6 Activa with a manual to keep in my collection.

Problem is on the continent a good one is worth around €5000 which is around £4200 these days.

Am I the only person that thinks this is a huge amount of money to pay for a Xantia?

Yeah, but not quite!

So. It's a Delage red 2.0i TCT Exclusive where it has wood/leather/air and
roof although sadly it also needs a V6 engine and the ARCS bits!

BUT it does have a sunroof!! Yay!! :D

Still a very nice car that could be a bargain.

After doing a clutch change during the week, we are having trouble running.

Started up fine after the rebuild left it for 20 minutes to resort itself out in the hydraulic department, short road test (round the block) went fine went to collect some tickets from my daughter (5 minutes away) engine started kicking and dying.

Looks like my activa has spring a leak, and its deffo a leak :(

Its coming from the left hand side HP outlet that runs down the front of the engine bay. I also think that due to it dripping on my alternator it means that is likely to die sooner as well as i recall its been mentioned its bad for them :(

Ahh htere is some confusion i think here.

I do not mean replace the current pump. I mean hav an electric motor drive the current pump. This way it could be located closer to the PR valve and out of the way of the alternator as well. IE a motor that would bolt onto the flywheel of the pump :)

As all the Activas I have or have owned suffer from this heinous defect, I have decided to get some re-inforced bolsters made up, with a bit of different padding around the seat frame that causes the bolster to wear.

To this end, does anybody want to join me and buy a new 'bit of foam'? I would be interested in knowing possible numbers required...

The Series 1 24v that was in Germany is staying there.

The gearbox oil seal was gone on it and the gear oil was pouring out. The guy wasn't prepared to get it repaired for me if I covered the costs and it wasn't driveable.

The costs of towing it home from Germany would of been huge. And the car was at over 600 quid the last time I saw...

Firstly the good news: my Activa passed it's MOT today with no issues! :D

I noticed this sensor at the weekend (it's the one right in the middle of the picture):

It appears to only have one wire (the red one) attached. The green one appears to be in the plug, but either not connected or maybe cut:

The BOL isn't a great deal of help with...

Yes, although it seems to read low a lot of the time on Mk2s. I seem to recall Jim thought it was all down to where the sensor was. It's closely related to coolant temperature (once warm anyway)

I reckon it's to do with the Activa having a nice big alloy sump in the cooling blast of air and having a water/oil oil...

My first area would be getting the car on axle stands, and then de pressurising the suspension. What is the easiest way to do the later?

Latest discovery on ebay:

seems nice and shiny and looks useful but it isn't right as far as I can see!

It's the exact dimensions for the insert badge on the side door rubbing
strips BUT there seems to be a fundamental problem - it has silver
lettering on a black background colour where the actual original badge is
the opposite = black...

Hi, I`ve a problem with a Xantia2 Activa where the front suspension
won`t lift. After checking the hydraulic pressure Ive found that the system is
not building up enough pressure, as though there is a unit bypassing the
pressure feed. What I was hoping for was the layout for the hydraulic system
so I can work out which order...

the front is a time consuming process on a Xantia and further complicated
by the additional Activa ARCS components so probably opening the extra
circuit lifting the car and altering the attitude of the height corrector allowed

Hi Folks,

Having converted my Activa to a 3.0i V6, I now have a spare 2.0 TCT engine, gearbox and a few other parts too.

So, the 2.0 TCT engine is for sale.
It's covered 62,000 miles from new, with full service history.
The engine oil was changed 300 miles ago.
The car is from Nov 1999, so a late series 2 car.
I'd be happy to sell as a single...

Well you can always break your bits apart and means you can uprate the turbo a bit while its easy to get to :) maybe time to invest in one of those oil coolers as well to let the rest of us know if they are worth it on the activa :)

New front disc thickness - is this a trick question?

I need to order front discs for a 96 vintage Activa and the supplier has
22mm or 26mm thick front discs. As I haven't got my reference here at
work with me I'm guessing 26mm?

Anyone 100% certain fancy straightening this query for me please?
And are Unipart any good on quality? I'm interested in what you guys say
NOT their rep! :lol:

Got mine from GSF and came in a brembo box with the 2 dot wear indicators on them. Some standard pads on mine as well, think bendix was on the box maybe. They do ok for most stuff but after a few minutes oftwisty action round here they are sorely out of their range compared to other pads i have had on my old coupe...

Hiya all, I think my cat has gone. Originally it was thought that the back box was catching the bumper but after a shuffle it was still making the horrible vibrating noise at about 2000 revs, it sounds like the cat

Preferably i would like it replaced by Fri for ace cafe, but if not im sure another few days wont hurt? Has anyone got anywhere they...

Bafflepipe might be rattling in the centre box/rear box. Seems to happen on all non genuine exhausts after a few miles.

If the cat is gone it will make a tinny noise, smash the guts out of it.

Does anyone know how easy it is to reaplce the little rubber bush's on the sway bar that runs from each front wishbone and onto the front subframe and from what i remember of the checks you should do on an activa its the one that controls the ARCS as i tried pushing it and the car didn't half swing one way and another :D but the bars are a bit...

Ok well to update this there is about 3 litres of antifreeze in the system now and its holding ok i hope, touch wood.

Also just ordered the bush's as Citroen France have shed loads in apparently so thought for £60 cant be a bad thing and will keep me busy one evening.

We've all seen the adverts for the activas, BUT are Activa's actually safer round corners, under braking in corners.... than other normal sprung cars and other normal Xantias/C5's?

Not on about crash tests but more about the grip and the control of the car under these circumstances...

Judging by the non posting here I guess you've got a fairly unique failure
although it has to be said the main focus for clunks on the back is always
the Activa ram bush so in the case of a noise at the rear maybe it's a case
where it isn't always the same failure!

Looking at the Citroen parts site image there's little on the nearside rear...

Possibly, the item was however explicitly tagged as a droplink for the rear suspension. The link was also more bulky than the slender front droplinks, but it may have had the same length.

Could it be that the activa shares this particular part with other xantias, even though the rear axle setup is different?

Aux belt tensioner adjustment on AC Activa

:oops: OK, first time I've had to faff about with an engine that has this design of
tensioner with the AC pump - the car is the latest 99 V reg.

Least the tensioner arrangement looks like this! :D

The belt is squealing when cold and is not only is it really embarrassing I
worry about the aux belt letting go with disastrous consequences for...

It was a dark blue Activa with 17 8 spoke alloys, M3 style exhausts and around 240bhp!

The reg plate is N579 YBL.

Bio-Ethanol E85 causing problems :-(

Well i filled up with 56 litres of Bio-Ethanol E85 this morning as thought it was worth a shot and its giving me problems :(

Within a few minutes of the fuel cycling round the system i got the EM Light on while idling but went away as soon as i moved off.

Secondly when i put my foot to the floor at sub 2.5k revs it feels like the engine is being...

Well after the initial day or two things have settled down and if anything have improved, though no sure how much is down to the ecu reset and the peddle meeting metal action, i've got 150miles from just under half a tank!!

The idle is perfect, doesn't stall or jump around just perfect hot or cold.

The running is great, no more hesitation at...

The composite impeller pumps are not necessarily poor and were fitted as OE on many vehicles including BMW's. Of course if you can find a metal impeller one for similar money then you lean in that direction :wink:

On the specific subject of cheaper Circoli pumps which appear to Italian, here is an excerpt from the Saab owners forum on the ECP...

That was an excellent result Mike and from a new and undoubtably keen MOT tester, you know the car is nigh-on perfect.

The Offside gaiter is the easy one to swap fotunantely.

Your emission results are absolutely spot-on and typical of an Activa engine in good nick, in fact they were very similar to what both Gareth's and my Activa recorded on...

Front pads?

Hi all, my discs and pads need changing, so yesterday i got what i thought were the pads for my s2 activa. Looked at my other s2 which was parked with a wheel already off and the pads were the same. But, the ones i need for this one are completely different! They are about half the size! Has any one come across this? I didnt know there were two...

Thankfully I have someone who can do it, it's just getting them to do it when they have the time. Its the top bolt that did it, the end of the bolt had to be cut down as it was buggered, then when it went to be put back in, it wouldnt grip anything

Poor activa looks sorry at the moment, i never have a simple problem. My other one is off the road...

1996 Activa Clutch Issues

The clutch pedal goes right down to the floor on my Activa & am unable to select gears.
Observing the clutch cable at the transmission end I cannot see any way of adjusting it so I think it must be an automatic adjusting cable.
I learn a plastic clutch clip near the pedal often fails on Xantias.
I'll be looking at this next.
The garage tells me...

Is the drivers side front wishbone the same for any other model or is it activa specific?? Mine has decided that one of the rubber bush's is a rare delight and is gobbling it up and seems to be causing some vibration at speeds... :(
