Activa badge

Unread post by andmcit »

Latest discovery on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1x-Citroen-Activa ... 0362115595

seems nice and shiny and looks useful but it isn't right as far as I can see!

Image

It's the exact dimensions for the insert badge on the side door rubbing
strips BUT there seems to be a fundamental problem - it has silver
lettering on a black background colour where the actual original badge is
the opposite = black lettering on silver! :?

anyhow just a reminder of the genuine article on a door:

Image

Now if it was 29mm high x 136mm wide the ebay badge on offer would
do a decent job on the bootlid as opposed to having nothing there unless
of course you've got a pukka one fitted!!

I may take the plunge with one of these ebay badges purely for research
purposes  where it can sit on the rear of my latest purchase! It may
help distract the eye from the battle damage the previous owners have
inflicted on it! The ebay seller has a 197 available so plenty to go
around, even if that's two per car on the doortrims! :D

I'm just not 100% sure of the fawn colouring for the **ACTIVA** lettering
mind...

BTW - If you're reading this Arkweld, you wouldn't fancy filling some
background to your teasing avatar!!? Are they what I think they are
and are they available for sale!?? Where from? :?

Andrew

Hi Andrew,

That badge is a copy of the genuine one fitted to the boot lid bottom right corner of UK Activa's between 96-97, I'm not sure about the dimensions (IIRC the boot badges were slightly larger than the door ones) but the original ones were mounted on a chromed plastic base.

Cheers Richard,

because it does match closer to the original on the tailgate, for now I've
decided one of these can sit on the bootlid of mine until I get my hands
on the correctly sized one (if ever!!). The way I see it, something on the
back of an Activa in the correct logo/font style is better than nothing
although these repro ones aren't exactly right.

Tired, I made a typo gaffe in the original post with the size = the pukka
rear badge is 136mm x 29mm instead of the genuine side strip AND ebay
one's which are 106mm x 24mm so you can see the dimensions of a rear
badge is proportionately different.

Has anyone on the forum actually received one of these repro badges yet?

Well go on then, spit it out Mike

Have you found these are any good and do they fit on the side moulding door
trims OK or have you just the one on your tailgate? :D

Mike,

cheers for the feedback on the badge you've got, they're just erring enough
£ to be annoying if the quality is iffy and they're no use for the job so that's
why I was wondering if anyone had purchased one!

With the one you've plucked back out of the toolbox is the lettering colour
actually silver; the colouration from the auction picture seems to show a
cream colour?

I'll work on the basis that anything is going to be better than nothing even
if the cognescenti can spot the wrong colours on the badge at 50 paces!

Good move saving Activa specific items off a scrappage car - shame but at
least the rams you mentioned elsewhere will keep yours going a while
longer yet so the 'sacrifice' by the scheme isn't a total dead loss.

In fact, it'd be worth keeping an eye on ebay Germany and France - I'd love
to get a pukka badge for my red car!

There was in fact a NEW Activa boot badge amongst a set of 50 Citroen
badges on offer on ebay uk a few weeks ago now and I was up for bidding
a lot for it but the seller succumbed to an offer out of ebay - if someone
here got it, either you offered a £ wedge or are very persuasive!!

bOOOO!

Incidentally, the door trim insert badges don't appear very strong; one side
on my black car is perfect, yet the opposite side is breaking up along the
edges as if someone has tried levring a screwdriver on the sides to prise it
off - it's gone all cloudy in lines and has a similar degradation to the infill
fake chrome strips.

could this design come available in a 136mm x 29mm dimension as this
was the size originally applied to the rear tailgate on a Citroen Xantia in
the same colour combination/graphic?

Is there also a design of your auction size badge in inverted colours ie.
black lettering on silver?

Thanks, Andrew
zarasgreeneyes wrote:Hi Andrew,

Thank you for your email and your information. I will request that our
design team produces this badge to the dimensions you require. The
listing will then appear in our shop.

We currently don't produce an inverted design for this badge, but again,
I will put it to our design team and see what we can do for you.

Please note, there is usually a 5 working day turnaround for goods to be
produced, so expect to see the listings arrive in our shop mid to late next
week.

Many thanks for your interest!

Kind regards,

Lucy

Will they be able to apply the correct thickness of gel to them as well so they are a bit thicker at all as my boot doesn't have one and i'd spend a few quid to make it look right :)

I reckon an Activa badge on a Xantia causes plenty of confusion already!

One bidder, 168bhp, is from France and is the poster here who confidently
listed Activa/V6 registration sales in the UK here on FCF in the past
- actually, whilst discussing Activa badges!! 8)

That's a side door badge surely, it's much shallower in depth and every back
badge I've seen is silver lettering on a black background as per my dirty black
car:

Great to hear from you Arkweld.

I'd love a few silver side trim badges, are these OEM quality!? Who are these
from, Citroen themselves? I'd not expect the black background one's to be
available in the side trim dimension.

No word on rear deeper chromed base versions?

The side reverse flipped are a fabrication mod that i had initially came up with . As for quality , well for the deeper crevice of the side strip was not quite adequate , also suiting more a darker colour Black/Dark Blue .
Not that i made the effort to try fitting them .
I also was not expecting them to hit the bay , what you see to the left is the
results , should you need any info then i'll PM you on it thank's

oh yeah the silver's are from citroen .
