I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Hi, I have an M reg 2.0l Laguna.
A couple of days ago the fan stopped working, the air con looks to be ok and the lights on the climate control will turn on (which I assumed meant that the fuses were ok).....
Could this just be a relay problem? Is that common on these cars (recently picked it up)?

normally water pumps on front wheel drive cars are a bit of a pain because of access and cleaning of the old gasket on the block ,but they are usually held on by 7-8 small bolts, if the access isn`t to bad then it`s not to bad generally.but I`ve never done one on a R21
you say it leaks where the pump meets the head? make sure that area is clean...

Try your local scrappy (Vehicle Recycler), if not you can also use something like Partfinder on the net, it will usually present you with several options over time. At least this way you will be able to see the different prices and locations. If not you can look for an accident damaged one and try to aquire the gearbox from its owner.

the click could be the solenoid on the starter motor.
turn the the ignition to the first stop to release the steering lock.
put the car in 5th gear with handbrake off obviously on flat ground,
push the car about half a meter back and forward several times put the car in neutral and try the key ,if it starts then the solenoid or starter moter is on...

I would get the phone book out and ring up some scrapyards car breakers if you buy a used hub with bearing have a look at it for wear.if you want a new hub and bearing phone some motor factors try
2 or 3 they can vary in price as can scrapyards.

there will be a linkage between the gear lever and gearbox check to see if it moves properly .check that nothing is loose.
And if you are buying a car AS Seen have a very good look at it first and have a TEST DRIVE before you pay for it!

I think your head gasket has blown. The lumpiness on starting is water in one of the cylinders. When it's running do you see bubbles coming up in the header tank? That's another indicator of a blown head gasket.

If I didn't have enough problems with my car, my gear selector has gone really sloppy, It seems to be at the mount under the gear stick. How easy is it to get at it once the heat sheald has been removed. Does the middle section of the exhaust need taking out? How much should I expect the part to cost?

If you're measuring voltage drop across the ends of the fuse when the lights are on, and assuming a 55 watt lamp, the fuse holders have a resistance of 0.05 of an ohm (one twentieth of an ohm). Doesn't seem too bad.
On the other hand, you could be measuring current, resistance, capacitance, temperature, length, circumference or anything else!...

When I check the readings on the fuses in the fuse box, most things read zero when on as expected, however the lights all give very small readings, usually 0.2. Could this be an earthing fault? Or a possible short somewhere? Any help would be great. thanks

The heater blower only works on volume 4!! any suggestions? I can;t even see an easy way to get to the back of it - but I've heard that the rheostat (which I presume is the problem) is located away from the switch.

I have a dry bearing type noise comimg from the engine, 1.4 16V, which i cannot locate or identify. It has been suggested that it could be the water pump bearing which is worn allowing the pump to catch on the housing.

That sounds very much like the problem I've just fixed on my 21.
In my case it was the strut bearings- these allow the strut to rotate for steering. On my 21 they were stiff, meaning that the spring was winding up instead of turning. Sometimes the spring would shift and cause a steering pull because it was wanting to spring back into its proper...

Chances are that it's a normal Bosch or Marelli item; have you had a look for any part numbers on the bulb itself and tried a cross reference in Google or such like?
You can be sure that Renault pay as little as possible which normally means it's the same as a few other manufacturers' units.

I used to have a 1989 1.4. As far as I am aware, all of the range from this date onwards run on unleaded. Mine certainly did and it was an older model than yours

I've bought a Renault 19, 1.4 litres. The car was manufactured 1990.
They guy I bought it from told me to pour leaded fuel in it. However,

It sounds like something external has come adrift.
My mate had a similar experience in a SAAB 9000 Turbo and it turned out that the actuator rod had come away from the waste gate, it only took a circlip to restore full power.

i have just had to fit a new turbo on my renault 98 model. i have driven it around for a couple of days and then was on the motorway coming back home doing a steady 70 when i lost all power. Oil leak - Clio 1.2 e type engine

Along with my coolant leak I have an oil leak to the right hand side of the engine it isnt spraying up off the drive shaft but it is wet over a large area on the side of the engine.
It seemms as though it could be around the distributur which is bolted to the side of the block Is it possible it could spray via the seal. Has anybody else had...

i am about to deal with the exact same problem for a friend, i believe you can buy the seal, and also the pipe, the pipes is about £25, but i also need advice on how to do the job, and if it is a push fit etc

Can anyone advise. I have a Clio 1.2 (think e type engine). I have found a coolant leak at the front of the engine where the straight plastic or metal pipe which goes into the block ( presume water pump)and connects up the rubber hoses. Is this a push fit . RENAULT 5 HEATER

Hi, I have a Renault 5, 1986 and the foot wells have filled with water from the heater , It's brown and smelly. How do I know if it is the heater matrix ? are they easy to replace.
I have taken the surround off but can't see any logical way of removing the heater unit !

Hi, just got my 1st clio, 12moths mot etc. Anyway small problems;
1) After i have been cruising for a long time then approach a roundabout to change geat it will stall then bump its self back to life, why?
2) Where the link pipe connects to the backbox it is loose, how is this tightened? please dont say i have to buy a new exhaust system

Guessing a bit from my experiences with other cars.
Usually these are secured with a captive spring clip. Simply tap the joint with a mallet around where the driveshaft goes in. It is easier with the driveshaft completely off the vehicle.

Laguna Fuel Gauge Erratic

The fuel gauge in my Laguna (1.8) shows a normal reading when parked but when driving off the needles drops. I know and expect some movement on the gauge but this is literally dropping to empty from 1/4 tankful. I suspect this is the sender unit? Any ideas on how to rectify this, how easy it is and what the exact part is called?
