I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Could be one or more of several thing's, most likely is air getting in somewhere, first place to look is the leak off pipes, they harden with age and split, if not there check all fuel pipe connection's and the filter housing, to test for this get someone to prime the Injection pump by pumping the rubber bulb, give it a good few squeezes...

When my '96 405 TD eventually starts (after 2 doses of heat cycle even in summer) there are clouds of grey smoke, which clear after a few seconds. Heater plugs are new, heat and post heat cycles are OK, and it runs fine when hot. Mileage is only 80K.
Could the injectors be the cause?
Otherwise mpg and performance is ok.

FYI - Turned out to be the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor - a common fault on pugs apprently

His my 98 R 106 gti has developed an eratic idle and hesitates under acceleration (also stalls occassioanlly) - its an ntermitent fault - I've changed the plugs but this done nothing - think its probably one of the sensor or the actual ignition module - any ideas??

Its interesting that this problem is worst when the car is cold> this points towards a power steering problem in my book. I would imagine that the PAS ram is sticking slightly ine one position, this is made worst by the fact that the PAS fluid is slightly thicker when its cold.

Hi Doug.
It may not help much, but I did a sunroof on a Peugeot 104 years ago and it wasn't that bad a job. It wasn't a electric one it was manual. If your headlining is a one piece item, it may be worth removing it for a quick look.

Hi, back again, I have a 405 with an electric sunroof, motor works but nothing moves, has anyone tried replacing the cable, or fixing a sunroof before and could pass on any advise. My main worry is that the glass roof isn't in it's fully closed position, it sits about 1/4 inch down.

Hi Doug. - The clutch pedal should be adjusted so that between the pedal pad, pressed to the floor and it's 'up' position you have a distance of around 140mm. If it's not within 5mm either way, the adjustment should be carried out at the clutch housing. To reduce drag to the minimum make sure the pedal pivot is lubricated and the inner cable not...

It may be worth having a look at the bottom ball joints and the track rod ends to see if they are seizing. I would do this by disconecting the track rod ends from the hubs, then see how easily you can turn the front struts by hand, and feel if you can move the track rod joints as well. If one is harder than the other, you might be getting...

Did same with my 306. Peugeot dealers sell the screw on bit separately. About £8 if I remember. The shorter aerial fitted to most recent models looks good and is the same price.

i have this random problem on my 205 (1991)
ABS is fine, and cleaning the sensors has helped, but every now and then my light won't go out!!!!
I drive down the road about a mile, turn the engine off + on again, and walla it goes out....
Did you get any answers???

I've got to replace the head gasket on my 1.4 pug, so I may aswell replace the cambelt. This is the model that requires special tensioning, but I've heard from a garage that specialises in these engines that 6mm deflection on the longest run of the belt shows its tensioned about right. Is this true???

I have recently re-built the bottom half of this engine and it starts and runs ok. When it is started from cold it fires immediatley and will rev up (if the throttle is pressed on and off) perfectly for about 5-6 seconds. Air Bag Warning light on 306's

If this comes on it doesn't always mean that an air bag has failed. I have had two instances of the warning light coming on.
The first time it was the rotary connector behind the steering wheel which had gone open circuit (and was repairable).
The second time concerned one of the orange two pin connectors right underneath one of the front seats...

Ok, esaiset way to test the wiring to the heated rear window is to carefully pull off the 2 spade connectors that attach to the HRW, and put a lead, or test lamp between them. Whilst trying to fix the girlies 106 (1.1XN, 92) I found it absolutely impossible to get to the relay box. Haynes was no help! It said to pull the fuse box out, which in my mind cant be done. Any ideas?
The switch operates the relay (I can hear it click) Can relays just not make contact, or is it the wiring to the rear screen.

Anyway, the charge light indicates that the alternator is not charging. Have you placed a multimeter across the battery and tested cold...

If calipers, pads and discs have all been changed, and you are still having this problem, it sounds like the rear brakes are not getting enough hydraulic pressure, that is, the brake compensator may be either defective, or incorrectly set.

I have a 1989 F Reg Mi-16. This problem first came about when vibratrion was noticed when accelerating and especially through maximum torque. The bushes to the wishbone were replaced. However, the problem never went away. I have subsequently replaced the back engine mount.

Hi,

From the post it is not clear what your exact problem is.

However, the handbrake lever on the caliper often seizes up/sticks.

If you apply a little plusgas or similar to the pivot area and then work the lever backwards and forwards using a mole grip or simialr they will often fee up.

Then put some grease around the pivot area.

The 306 Cat is located in the front section of exhaust. it's under the floor, but only about 2' from the engine.
Second hand exhaust components are rarely worth any money at all, unless you can find someone who really wants it, and as for the cost of a new one... check with ATS, kwik-Fit, etc etc... or just go to a motor factors, buy it cheaper...
