205 Warning Light........

Post by jestermann »

I own a Peugeot 205 1.8 Diesel, 1993 K.
Recently a warning light has been coming on and I can find no explanation of this light in my Haynes manuals.
The light is situated in the section of the dashboard dedicated to the fuel gauge. There are two lights beneath the gauge, this one is to the right.
Also, is there any way to make the steering any easier on these cars? I am aware that non-powered sterring should be heavy on the diesels and have been advised to over-inflate the tyres!
Thanks in advance,
Justin

Can you describe the symbol on the light and does it look like a filter.
As for overinflating the tyres I had to do this just to get them to wear evenly accross the tread, to much wear at the sides, only do it if your tyres are not wearing evenly.
Overinflation will wear the centre section of the tread if you give it to much.
Just had a look in my old owners manual, didn't know I still had it, it's the low coolant warning light if it's still same as 88 model.

Thanks for the quick reply Dave.
I've taken a look and you're absolutely right, disconnected the sensor from the coolant lid and the light went out! seems very obvious now, but I thought I'd already checked the coolant level. Never mind, you live and learn! Thanks again.
