205 Wobble - more info

Post by mauro »

Thanks for reply. I've had new tyres, checked wheels for balancing and buckling. The calipers are new. Is it poss that the d/shaft was faulty as they're only recon. Is there any way of checking besides driving on full lock? There seems to be a slight rumble from o/s front wheel when I spin it by hand but it's difficult to tell as you can't spin it very fast. No rock from wheel bearings. Could it be o/s d/shaft bearing? Grateful for a reply

You'll hear a rumble from a wheel bearing before it gets to the rocking stage, and yes - the intermediate bearing on the o/s drive shaft can make a noise, usually when the wheels are on lock. More a squeak than a rumble. Try a squirt with thick oil to eliminate it. Have you had the tracking checked recently?
