Wynns 'Stop Leak' ..... anygood?

Post by StuartR »

Bit of oil leak (not dripping just very slow, touch wood) probably from crankshaft oil seal. Before I get this fixed, at cam belt change was going to use this any body tried it. It says it won't alter oil and takes 200 miles to work. Thing is oil needs changing about now so can't decide to use old or new oil as the carrier for it.
Just wondered.

Hi Stuart - Don't know whether it's a good idea or not. These things work by making the rubber in the oil seal swell. OK on the one that you're going to eventually replace, but maybe it doesn't do the others any good.

Cheers John you've put enough doubt in my mind about it, it's not worth risking the life of all the seals (and I imagine it'll effect gaskets too) for just an almost invisable leak.
