How to remove the interior rearview mirror on C4 B7?

Unread post by Cutac »

Hello,

I'd like to install an aliexpress rearview mirror with a screen for a backup camera. To do so, I'd need to take my current mirror off so I can see what type of mount it's using, but I don't know how to remove the mirror and fear of breaking the windshield.
So, quite simply, how to remove the regular interior mirror on C4 B7?

Thanks :)

P.S.
these are brackets offered by aliexpress seller

Just a few to choose from then! Once you have removed it as shown, you should have a better idea of the type of fixing you need. :-D

It's recommended to use Battery disconnection procedure before removing the sensitive sensor:

BSI Rest / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure
Cutac Trim A.PNG
Unclip: The 2 trim cowlings (1), (2) ( as "a") using trim tools.
Detach and remove: The 2 trim cowlings (1), (2).
Cutac Trim B.PNG
Disconnect the connector ( as "b").
Unclip: The securing clip 3 ( as "c").
Detach:
  • The securing clip 3 (In the direction of the arrow )
  • The rain/sunlight bi-sensor (4)
Remove the rain/sunlight bi-sensor (4).

Caution: Protect the contact cushion of the rain/sunlight bi-sensor
with a transparent adhesive strip; Store the rain/sunlight bi-sensor in an envelope.
Cutac Trim C.PNG
Disconnect the connector ( as "a").
Cutac Trim D.PNG
Unclip: The interior mirror (1) (In the direction of the arrow - Anti-clockwise).
Remove: The interior mirror (1).

Thanks for the tutorial!

But, I've tried pulling it off but it doesn't budge, and I'm afraid I'll break the windscreen. I'm going to go to the dealer and ask the tech there.

Have you twisted it anti-clockwise first - it’s locked into place so needs twisting in the direction shown?

The arrow shows twisting clockwise. Which is correct?

It is very clear to me - 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock arrow head is to the right as is the description - anticlockwise - as you are facing the mirror

Have to still disagree. Rotating from 9-o'-clock to 3-o'-clock is very definitely clockwise! But, hey-ho.

But the diagram shows the arrow clockwise.
Detach: •The securing clip 3 (In the direction of the arrow )
What am I missing here?

Ohhh...
Thanks for that, I'm ashamed to admit, but I thought I was supposed to pull it/twist it downwards towards the rear of the car.
I'll try turning it tomorrow

hi ya,
Would anyone happen to have the removal illustration for the rest of the windscreen trim please.
In particular I'm looking for the 2nd mini mirror and interior light cluster above the winscreen.
Basically I have installed a Dashcam and want to hide the power cable in the trim :-)
Can't stand cable ties and seeing the wire exposed..... it just looks pants :-)
Cheers

I just tucked my wiring along the roof headlining above the windscreen, and down inside the A pillar, then into the dashboard side covering and from there you have your earthing points and access to the fusebox for use with a piggy back fuse.
