I may be able to help you out with a procedure, but first I need to know the VIN. Once I've confirmed exact specs., I'll let you know.

Ok, so you will need access to a diagnostic tool like Diagbox to put the electronic handbrake in service mode, and then after the rear pads have been replaced, to undertake the cable re-packing procedure and calibration. You'll also need the caliper wind back tool.

If you want the part info / guide have a read below first.
A response to your question will require detailed vehicle information that requires you to have made a current contribution to the Forum.

Hi John, yes, the procedure requires a suitable diagnostic tool that can do this - Diagbox is the software that the dealers use. Other garages may have advanced diagnostics that can perform the operation too. The handbrake has to be put into service mode in order that the brake cables can be released from the mechanism. After they are hooked back up the procedures need to be followed to correctly re-tension the brake cables and calibrate the system - which is a guided procedure in Diagbox.

I can put up the 'how to' for the mechanical replacement part of the operation, but you will need to sort out the other part or you could end up with a fault. I've also sent you an email regarding your message. Sorry it's a bit late - I've been rearranging the house today!

DS4 Rear Brake A.PNG
Piston Wind Back Tool and Adaptor
Removing

Note: If the brake fluid reservoir is at maximum level, remove its filter and partially drain the reservoir with the aid of a clean syringe in order to avoid it overflowing.

Untighten the rear wheel bolts.
Slacken the parking brake Note - ensure you manually disengage the electric parking brake after the ignition is switched off (consult the manual). It is important that the handbrake is not re-engaged by the system when the ignition is switched off or you will not be able to release the cable from the yoke. It is then essential to disconnect the battery so there is no chance of accidentally turning the ignition on and the handbrake re-engaging!

Follow the BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure here before disconnecting the battery.

Note: For vehicles fitted with an electric handbrake, disconnect the battery.

Vehicles with Electric Handbrake

DS4 Rear Brake C.PNG
Detach the end piece of the cable (1) from the yoke (2).Detach the cable end piece (4) from the brake caliper (3).
Press on the ring (at "a").
Release the cable from the brake caliper (3).
DS4 Rear Brake D.PNG
DS4 Rear Brake E.PNG
Remove the bolt (5) (Apply a counter-torque (at "b")).
Tilt the brake caliper (3) upwards.

Note: Do not open the braking circuit on the caliper.
Take down:
  • The brake pads (7)
  • The noise reduction shims (6)

Refitting

(4)bleed screw(s)1 daNm
(*) Always to be replaced whenever removed
DS4 Rear Brake F.PNG
Turn and push back the piston of the brake caliper (3) (Clockwise) using the piston wind back tool.

Watch the level of the brake fluid.
CAUTION: The sound-deadening pads (6) must be changed when you replace the brake pads (7).

Fit:
  • The noise reduction shims (6)
    The brake pads (7)
Position the brake caliper (3).

Caution: At each removal, systematically replace the bolts (5)

Refit bolt (5) (Apply a counter-torque (at "b")).
Clip the ring (at "a").
Engage the cable end piece (4) on the brake caliper (3).

Electronic Parking Brake

Engage the end piece of the cable (1) in the yoke (2).

Fit:
  • The rear wheels
  • The rear wheel bolts
  • Return the vehicle to its wheels.
Follow the relevant part of the BSI Reset / Battery Disconnect / Reconnect Procedure

Caution: Apply the brakes several times, gently and progressively, with the engine running, before driving the vehicle.

Check the brake fluid level and top up if necessary.

For vehicles fitted with an electric handbrake

Using the diagnostic equipment:
  • Carry out the parking brake cables packing procedure
  • Carry out the electric parking brake calibration procedure
  • Read and clear the fault codes
  • Activate the electric handbrake control.
  • Check the locking of the rear wheels.
