I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

I went to start my car earlier and it wouldnt turn over. The dash did light up though. I tried this several times and nothing. I left it several minutes and tried it again and it started first time! Its a petrol engine if that helps.
Any ideas?

Sounds like its linked to the starter motor. have you checked your fuses? you may have a blown fuse which is stopping your starter motor from engaging.

Earlier style inlet manifold (air intake) temp sensors are exactly the same type as the cooling water (engine temp) sensors : a rather clumpsy device with a large (12-14mm) thread to screw into the sensed media.
Usually seen as a large bolt style device screwed into the inlet manifold.

My daughter had a problem with her Clio two months ago when the driver side seat mounted side airbag deployed for no reason. Fortunately she was just setting off so was not driving at any speed but she was pretty shocked by it. Renault are not accepting anyliability for the problem and are insistaing that there has been an impact that has caused...

Smell through air vents

I have a 54 reg 1.2 Dynamique Clio and recently there has been a smell like rotten eggs coming through the air vents when I start up the engine, then after about 30 secs the smell goes away.

Most likely down to bacteria in the A/C pipes, you can buy a can of stuff that treats it or you can pop into a KwikFit for example that should do it for a reasonable enough price.

My newly-purchased 2001 Scenic 1.9 dCi Sport Alize blew all its instruments, climate control and brake lights the first time I drove it. When I checked, the fuse that protected all three had been replaced with a paperclip by a previous owner (!), and this had blown. I replaced this with a new fuse, and the car drove for a while before the fuse...

Looks like your in a bit of a situation here. Turbos do not need running in at all, you need to photograph the damage to make sure its not covered up and a claim against his insurance should be made.

Hi there, both cables have broken on electric front window regulators a common fault I believe have been offered a used pair complete for £80 but the motor is a 2 pin type. Can I change my 6 pin over? And would it be straight forward?

Hi,
I'm no expert but you should just be able to remove the 2 pin motors & fit your 6 pin motors in their place...obviously this relies on the fitting for the motors being the same....you would have to compare the regulators side by side to establish if they were.

If your going to pay £80 for 2 second hand regulators (assuming unknown condition)...

I just bought my lovely clio RN, T reg '99, and it is perfect, except for one very slightly annoying problem, the front washer works great, pull leaver back wipers wipe nd squirts water on window, but if i use the rear washer switch the wiper works fine, but the washer also squirts the front window :? any ideas?

I know that there is a manual key within the fob, but I've no idea how (or rather where) to use it to open the car as there's no obvious keyholes. Pop off the rear section of the door handle, should be a duller grey.
On my Laguna there was actually a slot underneath to help do this, can't remember with my megane.

I suggest trolling the net about biodiesel in general B100 comes with lots of issues. It can release sediment that normal deisel wont (sediment thats already in the tank). It attacks seals / fuel lines that normal diesel wont and especially the seals in injector pumps. Many people do run on B100 (not sure about laguna's and theoretically it should...

I need to drain the radiator on my 1998 Megane. There is a plastic undercover under the radiator I need to remove first. It's help on by some funny looking screws - the heads look like an aeroplane propeller with three spokes and a hole in the middle. How do I remove these? Is there a special tool for the job? Thanks.

These are readily available from any GOOD hardware shop (not sure about B&Q but trade outlets generally have them) usually in a kit of about 40 or so different types. They are security bits. A small kit to fit standard multi bit screwdriver holder is about £10 (last time I bought some).

Scenic 1.6 98 broken wheel bolts

HELP!

I was trying to change the brakes on my scenic but the person that put the wheels on last time must have done them up way too tight as I have snapped 2 of them on one side.

I did try drilling them out a bit but my bits are not that good and keep going blunt.

I can see from the back that the bolts go all the way through and I was thinking...

The holes in the brake discs are NOT threaded.

You will have to first remove the brake disc in order to get a proper work situation on the broken wheel bolts job.

To remove the brake discs - you have option 2) and option 4) above.

once you are in the work process - things comes pretty logic -
Get to work mate - its much easier than you fear...

Hi,

The power steering on my 2001 1.2 16v Clio (98 to 01 model) has stopped working and the engine management light has come on.

I have checked the fluid and it is full (Very full, is this normal?).

Are there any obvious checks I should do before taking it in to the garage?

Seems you have 2 separate problems then.

You might have an elecric driven servo assist pump. That woud explain the perfectly topped up reservoir, but no steering assist despite a good belt.
You engine management light will then be a completely separate faut, most likely a dead simple service issue like afailing temp sensor or clogged air intake...

Hi all,

trying to find out what could be wrong with my Dad's car, an '03 laguna Auto.

It's happened three times now, with varying symptoms.

The first and third time it has happened the box decided to down-change without need, the first time dropping 2 gears and the third time just 1 gear. (and wouldn't then change out of newly selected gear)...

I have actually rebuilt an autobox before, however it was on an old sharknose BMW - so probably a tad simpler in construction!!! Never looked inside a modern one... could be a learning curve I suppose :lol:

I have a 1998 'S' Reg 2.2TD Grand Espace RXE, that has just failed its mot. :cry:
I am not bothered about most of the mechanical failures e.g. track rods end, drag links and a damaged rear spring, but she failed on excessive amounts of metered smoke.

The average reading was 4.04 1/m whereas it should have been under 3.0

If the EGR valve is fitted, it is certainly an advantage to do the Italian tune up with that device de-activated - usually a simple vacuum hose to disconnect.
I'm unsure if your national British MOT does any testing to the EGR system fitted, better check it out before disconnecting, as then you are just moving the problem.

1.4 16v clio 2004, local dealer has tested the wiring behind the airbag and says all is well. but horn still not working now and again. Fitted a new horn to it today worked first time, but this afternoon same problem again.

The dealer also wanted £325 to fix this problem?!??!?!?!?!

Any ideas???

RX4 MANAGMENT/GLOW PLUG LIGHT ON

Just wondered if anyone has ever had trouble with the management/glow plug light coming on at around 40/50mph on a Renault Scenic RX4 1.9dCI 2003 which seems to throw the car into a limp mode?
Took the car to the dealer but they couldnt pin it down to a single component fault!, the only fault stored in the ECU was for a speed sensor code which...

Hello everyone, just to introduce myself, I have a 2002 K4M 1.6 Kangoo Trekka 4x4, which I dearly love, but is not without her problems. I do all the work on her myself, which hasnt been anything other than discs and pads in the 83,000 miles I have done in her. Renault did the cam belt change though.

Hi,
I am trying to find out it my V reg (2000) Renault Laguna Ibiza 1.9 TDi has a Lucas or a Bosch fuel/injector pump. My Haynes Manual is not very clear on this point, and I can't tell by looking at it.
May I assume it is direct injection and not indirect??? And is the fuel filter a heated one, it's got wires to it , but whether this wiring...

I run my xantia on straight veg oil, if you're going to use waste, look into the refining/filtering processes, I wouldn't just pour waste veg in even if you just filter it.

Electric window shunt units

Got a 92 Clio RT the left hand electric window has stopped working, done various checks and the wiring diagram shows a shunt unit in the circuit.
Does anyone know where the shunt units are located (one for each window circuit), Haynes manual doesn't tell me.

Laguna II Lights

Both my headlights are out on my 04 Laguna, side lights and main beam both work but the dipped headlamps on both sides don't. Anyone got any ideas as i find it unlikely that it would have blown both bulbs since its MOT in april ? :?

On recent cars the headlights have separate fused circuits - but still shares a common chassis earth connection.
Go look for a corroded earthing point/bolt on the inner wing anywhere near the battery.

EDIT : arrrhh...
only the mains are working but dips are missing.
Not likely to be an earth then - unless its separate H1 type bulbs (single...

hi guys, first post so be nice :D

looking at picking up a mk2 laguna this week, its on 115k (1.9dci).

anything to be looking out for in particular? i know it needs a new steering rack so looking for advice and help in doing this, im not afraid to get stuck in, have plenty of tools etcetc.

Howdie,

Where can we get a new wiper linkage without giving half a mortgage payment to the local dealer :o

Or is it worth risking a second hand one, one of the linkages has weakened, so I am reluctant to get a second user one, 'if' it is a common fault - have anyone else suffered from this.

i am looking at a renault clio that has been crashed at one side, but the engine wont start anymore, does any1 know if these have fuel cuts or anything alike, i tried looking under the bonnet for a fuel cut button but cant see anything.

the early models have a fuel cutout behind the battery . it is next to the ecu it has a cream colour top round about 2 across.

Hi, I have searched the forum and can't find any answers so here goes.

My wife has a 51 plate Renault Megane Scenic 1.6 Dynamique +, it passed it's MoT in March 08.

We have had it for almost a year but upon travelling to Devon on holiday last week I discovered that the steering wheel has begun to vibrate at intervals when you get to approx 62...

Hi all,

Newbie Laguna Phase II owner here..... I wonder if you could help with a few questions.

I have managed to pick up a 2001 1.6i with only 25K on the clock for £1000.
THe car drives like it's brand new (as it should) but has a few quirks;

1. The sunroof will not stay open on tilt and it will only start to open on the last 3 settings on...

I had tyre sensors on after a garage put the wheels on the wrong corners of the car, they didn't match up the colour codes.
As mine was a 1.9DCi, I found the tyre pressure (or rather flat tyre warning) very useful, what with having to pull over to the hard shoulder so often to reboot (I'm sure the ECU was running Windows ME!) I was always getting...
