mine are in the parcel shelf with a bayonet type connector
to dissconect them
the only problem is one of the speakers doesnt work
has anyone had problems?

Before you spend any more money - check that the relay isn't already working. A cheap 12V multimeter getween the glowplugs and earth should display a positive reading while the glowplug light as on and for a while afterwards. Incidentally Lidl supermarkets are doing a suitable one for £3.99 this week.
Also try pumping the diesel primer until is...

Hmm...could be an attempt to sting you for some dosh, you must make sure that what he is on about is the actual fault, if not allready done, a compression test or better still a leakdown test will point to any such problems, get it done somewhere else though, shouldn't be the problem at that mileage but its not unheard of.
First things to look for...

I am sure you will have to check the diameter of the friction plate in relation to the pressure plate of the original. Also the splines in the centre of the drive plate to make sure they fit on the first motion shaft of the gear box.
You could check the part numbers in the catalogue to see if they are similar. I am sure they are the same clutch...

no, they are a different size/shape

Hi
does anybody know of any sites that display the dash symbols?

check your coolant level.

this is my car that im selling.

im selling it for cheap, because there is a small drilled hole in a water jacket. the car runs smoothe and fine, but it will probably overheat after a while without the water cooling the engine off. more details on the site.
It is a beautiful car.

The heater plugs remain on after the engine has started to aid cold running for a few moments, then are switched off by the relay.
This sounds like air is still is entering the fuel system. This is causing the engine to surge. Check the four allenscrews on the top of the fuel filter, as this is the only area that is disturbed when the filter is...

My 1997 pug 406 2.0L ST came to a grinding halt as I drove home last week. The gearbox seized and I came screeching to a complete stop with a big bang (which was the gearbox casing cracking).
Anyway the box is thrashed and I picked up a second hand box out of a 1996 1.8L 16v 406.
Now I thought that all these PSA gearboxes were the same on 1.8 16v...

Its normal for the cooling system hoses to be quite firm, but they shouldnt be rock hard, if this is so suspect head gasket problems or head problems again or a faulty expansion tank cap which is less serious. As to the passenger side hose getting hot quickly, if its like my zx 1.4 the thermostat is on the passenger side of the engine and this...

peugeot wheel bearings dont get noisy when they go in my experience.

Unless you overfill the radiator tank, the lack of an expansion vessel shouldn't matter. (I believe the tanks are marked so they won't loose any water through expansion in normal use).
My 1994 ZX loses water all the time from the water pump. I had it replaced about a year ago, but I suspect the garage re-used the sealing ring. It doesn't loose to...

Are you sure the 1.9 has an ecu?
If so, it doesn't control the boost, only the fuelling. I have a 2.1, to which I have added a Bromleys tunit IV box. £375 + VAT and it should give a claimed 20+bhp. It certainly feels like it. 3rd gear at about 2250rpm is great.
If it isn't ecu controlled, you can still get the fuelling and boost increased manually...

I'm pretty sure there are old threads on this one. The answer is yes (not me though!!). It took our dealer something like 8 hours if I remember rightly. A friend was the mechanic. He said some nasty things and it isn't by any means simple but as far as I can see it is achievable as a DYI job.
Hopefully one of those who has actually done it will...

shocks will affect the firmness of the suspension, springs will change the ride height.

205 wheel bearings often fail and make noise yet have no play.

The drain tubes at the front are visable with the sunroof open. As yours is jammed I would suggest lowering the roof lining or take it out which is fairly easy as all the trim panels are push fit, and have a look inside
The other options are to remove the roof console and wind the sunroof manually, or remove the glass panel leaving the rest in...

Heater blow is a peice of peeeee!! But you have to do it standing on your head! no seriously you do! in the passenger foot well, remove the trim behind the glovebox. There is the heater blower. Remove the three screws( standing on your head!), remove the plugs and then stick in a new one. Job done!

Hello Everyone!
My 406 have a gear problem... In the morning, when temparature is below 0c, (when water freezes).. =)
it's very hard to shift from 1 to 2, but about 5 minutes when engine is running the problem goes away, i have changed clutch, gearoils (right one, 75w80) but no help.... any ideas? When engine is heated, gearbox works fine...

Sounds like an air leak allowing a small amount of air to be drawn in when the car is standing. Check all the pipes for signs of perishing and cast a critial eye aroung the fuel filter housing.
A very small hole an let air in, but won't let diesel out so you'll need to examine them well and replace anything suspect.
Also check that all the unions...

Anyone?

I can remember someone using that company a while back for a Citroen & were pleasantly surprised at how competitive the price was.
They aren't a complicated car to put a clutch in & they shouldn't have to take the engine out to do the job, just drop the box off.

I have recently bought a 405 diesel (K reg), and the electric windows seem quite reluctant to operate. One is worse than the other and it seems to have a tight spot, half way up.
Are there some areas requiring lubrication or does it seem they are on the way out.
THANKS!

I've just bought a 2000 1.9d 206 which has got outrageous 17 alloys and very low profile tyres and I want to take them off and fit standard steel rims and tyres. Does anyone know what size rims are standard fitment on this model? Also what should the tyre size be? The rims on there at the moment are Oz Racing ones, (not sure what width they are...

The rev counter is probably the multiplug on the senser cable. Open the bonnet, just in front of the injectors on the r/h side as you look at it you'll see a plug connector. Seperate it and spray with WD40, make and remake it a few times, this will hopefully cure it. (It cured my erratic tacho anyhow). You should be able to replace the bulb on...

unable to turn key in lock and it was left in locked positioned so even with central locking unlocked cannot push in to release lock. Any hints how to get the boot open so that I can take out the lock for renewal if needs be

The E-brake handle on my 405 is broken, it is extremely easy to pull up, and it obviously cannot hold the car. I have taken a flashlight and looked at the cable connection to the handle, and it does not go back when i push the handle back down. It is confusing me because if the cable is stuck out like that, then that means the brake should be on,...

Went to see this car.
I was in good nick apart from the odd scratch.
One thing bugged me though, the rev guage did not work, I asked him why, and he replied its because it has a different fly wheel??
Anyone know how to fix this?
So we agreed on a price and he is going to get it MOTed.
Looking forward to getting it.
Scott

Hi there.
My 205 needs a L/H driveshaft, i'm just wondering if a 1.0 or 1.1 driveshaft would fit, the part numbers seem to match up but I've been told elsewhere that they won't.
Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks

That'll be an airlock in the heater most likely. Unfortunately, that usually means there is (or is about to be) an airlock in the head which takes out the head gasket and usually warps the head.
Fix the leaking core plug, then bleed the system using an expansion tank.
Don't leave this unlesss you like changing head gaskets, and don't be tempted to...

the water doesnt always go into the sump, the gasket might be blown right on the edge of the combustion chamber, so the water will go right in, turn to steam and go right out the exhaust. hope that helped

blanked off my egr valve about a month ago and have had no ill effects so far.haven't had an emission check yet but throwing less **** out than before.big bonus is fuel consumption has dropped dramatically, probably getting 25 per cent more per gallon.(s reg 1.9d-90,000 miles)--------tc

Take the panel off and have a look! Drainpipe sealer usually works, you can even make a new membrane from a fertiliser sack - it's only a sheet of thick plastic.

I don't know about the Pugs but on the Cits the header tank is below the highest point in the system so you have to rig something up to get a head of water. I found a length of waste pipe worked well with a little padding. Then open the bleed screws in turn until water seeps out.
You may have missed a bleed screw as well, look at the piping around...

Have you checked that all doors are securely shut? I had the same problem recently, and the passenger seat belt was trapped in the door, which meant the central locking kept unlocking after pressing the key fob. The central locking system is a closed circuit, so the fact that it locks and then unlocks, means that the circuit is open somewhere....

If its the Lucas EPIC pump I'm not familiar with it, but being as the lift pump is integral with it I would assume it to be of the centrifugal design, these pumps are not very efficient at starter cranking speeds and so don't come in to play much for starting.
The fact that the car will start at higher temperatures suggest to me that this is one...

its more than likely a faulty timer relay.

It is possible to disarm the immobiliser by entering the correct code, waiting for the three bleeps and green light. Afer this you can simply disconnect the immobiliser and it will never bother you again. It is important not to disconnect it before you have entered the correct code as this can mess up the ECU.
I recently had a similar problem to...

It may be worth you reading my reply to the 'Strange heater problem after radiator change' that I Posted today.
Also you you may find it helpful to get a Haynes workshop mannual if you don't already have one.

Is it there at all engine speeds or does it gradualy fade as speed increases.
Does speed make no difference to the noise or does it stop abruptly at a particular engine speed.
Is it really a missfire, does the engine move (vibrate) on its mounts in time to the noise.
Dave

Not familiar with the 306 but if you can take the grill off there are usualy three relays in a box between the two fans (most citroens are like this), they can suffer corrosion of the spade terminals on the relays.
The fans will run in series at six volts for low speed and in parralel at 12 volts for high speed.
Has it got aircon.
Is there a...

By adding an extra intercooler, you may be giving more power, but is it worth it ?
You will need piping, you'll need to find a space, and get an intercooler. More weight, more money.....

OK, I know it's coming in through the pollen filter, but I can't work out why. The plastic panel above seems intact, and is fitted correctly, but still the water comes in. It doesn't come in very fast using a hose though, seems to be much worse if driving, ie with the wind pushing it in.
Someone else must have had this problem???

Have you considered a simple mechanical problem? When the lights first come on, are any of the wheels hotter than the others? When the brakes sieze what are the symptoms? If you release the vacuum in the servo (pop the one way valve out) do the brakes release?

I think the upper speedo cable replacement is a dashboard out jobby.
I am supprised that your cylinder head has lived to fight another day considering how long you have been running the engine with it overheating. The heater matrix has obviously started leaking due to the pressure in the cooling system.
I hope that the garage is paying for the...

Hi.. the manufacturer may not recommend new pulleys and tensioners etc ( I dont know for sure Id have to check.. ) but its a fair old job and if you plan on keepng the car, coupled with the miles theyve already done - if it was me I would seriously consider it. Im referring of course to the timing belt items - as the damage done by failure can be...

No worries
Visit this site and this will give you all the information that you need.

Mail me and i'll give you a contact.. Id do it now but I dont have their details to hand..

Thats how I've done it on a ZX, its awkward so you might want a mate helping by pulling on the shaft while you wallop only the centre part that is splined to the end of it with a soft metalic drift, preferably brass.
NOTE: the last one of these I did this way sheared the retaining wire circlip on the end of the shaft, this did not matter at the...
