I don't have knowledge of the Peugeot, but the issue of a loose connection is known with several makes of car.
I doubt the piece of plastic holding the cable to the floor will cause an issue with the air bag light, but an intermittent loose connection in the plug and socket almost certainly will. Check for a good electrical connection within. Look...

Well, much to my surprise, it passed it's MOT first time. Again!

Yep...

Rear high on stands. Suspension and Activa system de-pressurised...

Undo lower eye bolt in the Ram. I believe this is a 6mm Allen bolt but check.. This gives a useful guide to the preliminary work needed.

Then follow what it says here ...

Note the use of mandrels. The remains of the old bush will generally be very tight in there.

Cheers Jim, its depressurising Activa side of things that scares me .... job on hold.
Why? :? To depressurise the balancing side of the system push and pull the rods behind the front wheels until the car stops trying to respond to the rod movement, sorted, two minutes work.

Was I imagining that the throttle response was markedly quicker when I drove the Activa early on Sunday morning? ( o/s temp 0 degrees)
It definitely felt quicker....
If so, is there anyway of replicating the extra oomph when its

Evening all....
I've recently had the main accumulator sphere and the front Active ride sphere replaced by Pleiades to cure a ' hard' front suspension...
Drove back from Cambridgeshire and she positively floated along,parked up for a week and drove it at the w/end and the fronts gone hard again.
I don't think the new spheres have failed as when...

Having owned numerous Xantias i have taken the plunge and bought an ebay jobbie

So what did i get for £450 and a day out in Lincolnshire

She is silver S reg Mk2 with 92 thou on the clock extremely clean and tidy from end to end with two working keys

A Lexia will be a good idea as it will confirm if the sensor signal is present and reaching the Hydractive/Activa ECU and the Engine ECU which both use the same signal as the speedo.

The presence of a speed signal at both ECUs is critical.

Burst metal pipe

Went to move Juliet tonight and found that the metal pipe visible through the wheel arch is rusted as heck and LHM pours out of it.
I can't see where the pipe goes.

My Activa failed MOT on fast idle emissions

It's bad on the CO at fast idle = 1.078 with pass under 0.300 and the normal idle is very low 0.043 pass limit 0.500.
In fact CO seemed to get worse with the Second Fast Idle Test at 1.386. The HC is negligible at 8-11 pass limit 200
and lambda is steady at 1.001-1.004 pass limit 0.970-1.030.

When the car started the test it was hunting at idle...

Hi!
I have xantia activa it has been difficult to find normal driving mode, have to trick it by raising it to the top while it is in the process raise you put the lever on the normal.
It's just like the plastic arm would be loose, but no I have looked. The reglage has not jammed.

the prev owner said 200bhp but digging through the receipts i found the Superchips rolling road printout which had it at 185hp and 260nm from memory but i dont know at what boost setting, it feels good for about 185 though and is very torquey, it will pull from idle in 5th without any drama, lately ive been running it on 95 ron so keep the boost...

Hi Folks,

No doubt this has been discussed before, but its good to revisit this if people have tried different tyres since previous discussions.

My Activa has 3 Nexxen V rated 205 60 R15s, and 1 Michelin Pilot SX GT W rated 205 60 R15 (probably the original spare).

Michelin don't make a W rated tyre this size any more, and the nearest thing...

yeah it does get used, the reason i had it over a car is because i only pay £10 a month company car tax and i chose this one as it is the only pickup in its class that will carry 1 tonne on a euro pallet in the back and it had the best spread of torque, the animal for instance is akin to the short stroke XUD's, lots of torque over a small space...

According to there are only 91 Activa left in the UK!
This apparently includes all current taxed and all SORN cars.

Only 91! And I have two!

Edit: Their explanation of their figures appears to be a bit misleading. There are 91 Taxed and 47 SORN, not 91 including Taxed and SORN.
So there are 138 left.

I have only drive a xm serie 2 and a xantia 95-96 I think it was without hydractive (dont remeber and it was the first citroen I drived) becasue no sport button but it was the steering wheel with controls and airbag and that was so soft on the road.

Becasue I think it rasie my car in the back so normal height are little higher ans it looks like dragrace car so I will test to disconntect it.

Hi everyone was wondering what parts on other xantias are compatable to the activa.

A friend of mine is possible getting rid of his 1.9td as it has a bad hydraulic leak and he doesn't want to pay a fortune for a repair as he can pick up another towing xantia fdor his racing clio for next to nothing.

I know that all his spheres are nearly new....

Some advisories this year though, front suspension bushes (no surprise), front flexi brake pipes, and rear subframe mounts which will hopefully cure the rattles from the rear (I was suspecting the rear droplink).

Good value motoring - paid £900 three years ago! Sure, it has had a bit spent on it, but...

Right... so I've had a few months to get to know my Series 2 Activa and I'm loving it!

It rides perfectly, corners beautifully and the engine is smooth. Now the ram bush is fitted (thanks again to Jim for supplying it - was fitted with no drama!) the car cruises silently with no creaks or rattles (amazing in my experience for a Citroen)!

In my case, the guys here were totally spot on with the strange noise. Had the top engine mount (the one next to the bulkhead) replaced and it was fine after that.

Get the bottom mount looked at as well in that case - chances are it's gone soft. You'll kill the top mount in a matter of months if the bottom mount isn't up to scratch.

Hi Mike,

Personally I don't bother to depressurise when doing any spheres. Crack the rear corners on high as normal, then set the suspension to low and away you go..

The centre hydractives, the Activa accumulator and Activa balancing sphere will remain under pressure and these four will be TIGHT.

The bit you have pointed to doesn't swivel.

Think about it this way, if looking at the ARB from the side the photo is taken, the ARB is twisted anti clockwise, there would be no effort to pull the dog bone and connected linkage toward the ARB.

Hello chaps! Hope you're all well.

A mechanic friend of mine is replacing the rear ram bush this weekend with a new one kindly donated by Jim.

He's pretty handy with Citroens - he's currently helping to restore a DS - but do you have any tips on the best way of doing it? Not sure how complex the job is, if at all!

Well I always remembered the figure of just over 700, but the How Many Left website says there's about 900 of them. Either way, that is a low figure for a modern car.

Somehow, I can't see C6s being on forecourts for £1,995...

TCT camshaft

Another hour or two of labour and I'll have my spare TCT engine stripped down fully and ready to be cleaned, rebuilt and sprayed. The camshaft has some small pitting and wear on it so I'm toying with the idea of replacign it should I be able to afford to.

Looking around on Cat Cams they say there are two valve lengths fitted on the TCT, is there...

Thinking about this, can we not get a tally of all the Activae owner or
at least known to still exist within this forum? I posted this in the back
end of another thread in the Activa area but feel it'd get missed and I'd

on my dream car lists - a seriously fast well handling car - but can it be an activa??

(i know a stiffer lowered car would be faster on track - but i hate having to slow down for speed ramps :D)

so my question is say on a 10k limit can i get a wickedly fast track day car out of an activa (which weighs in at 1420kg)?

i probably won't do it...

has anyone ever added a new height to an Xantia?

i'm thinking about having fast height , basically 3cm lower than normal height for motorway cruising, but i'm not sure if it is as simple as holding the lever in a position between lowest and normal??

3cm lower is basically the low position on the basis that your car is at the correct heights...

Hi all

The knocking at the back of the car appears to have been diagnosed as a 'ram bush'... I'm sure you'll know what this is (being a new owner, it's a mystery to me!)

Any idea if this is an expensive fix?

Having a root around under the bonnet of the Activa and the electical bos in the bottom left as your looking in is a box installed with just e-crofting on it. Google led me here which led me to these

Obviously this points to a suspention electrical fault of some sort. But wat exactly? and how do I sort it and presumably get rid of the box?

I have found that those plugs come in a large number of variations.
The pinning and wiring content seems to vary by Xantia model.
Then the actual construction also varies from being able to take to bits and reassemble as required through to fully encapsulated and no capable of alteration. Only know because I have been cutting a few of them out...

Its one I saw advertised in France a couple of weeks ago, and it was only half an hour out of my way...

Good Points:
1997 Mk1 V6 Activa (LHD of course)
Reasonable mileage (150,000 km on the clock, but little supporting documentation)
Engine sounds sweet (but it would with a broken exhaust)
Activa rams both dry
Colour: Silex Gris (same as my...
