Activa roll call on this forum

Unread post by andmcit »

Thinking about this, can we not get a tally of all the Activae owner or
at least known to still exist within this forum? I posted this in the back
end of another thread in the Activa area but feel it'd get missed and I'd
be really interested to know how many of these exist "in captivity" still?

Plus the chance of having the quirk of a poll too, just for a laugh! :D
Main problem is there's only one vote per person so if you own more than
one the poll is knackered. It's not to be taken too seriously mind although
please 'shout' on this thread to add yourself to the list of cars owned
though if my addled brain has left you out!! If so, sorry

So, there's

x1 KP's s1
x1 Superloopy s1
x1 Citrojim Jim's red s1
x1 Xac's Juliet s1
x2 Jennie's s1's
x1 Kevmayer Kev s1
x1 Wainy's s1

I have
x6 s1's (for now  ) and
x1 s2

x1 XantiaMan583 Gareth's s2
x1 Quacker's s2
x1 sl4yer James' s2

x1 ACTIVE8 s?
x1 anybloodybody s?

If I've left anyone out sorry, but that's the point of trying to get an idea
of how many are owned by forum members!

Anyone want to add theirs to the list?? 20 out of 1224!???

Andrew

and pampered cars pictured there!! \:D/

I may add, all barring one car I've personally bought were cars scheduled
to be gutted for their engines from sellers that didn't give a stuff about
what an Activa is or what it does or for that matter how rare they are
- apart of course from the valuable engine... grrrrrr :x

Time will see whether I need to redistribute some of them as I need to do
with some other Citroens too - I'm sure folks here will be the first to hear
about it too!

Course, you guys in NZ and Australia run RHD too - something I didn't give
a thought to last night! Adam, when plans drop into place I'm guessing you'll
be on the list with an Activa wagon?

One would presume so. It's a matter of finding the right donor(s) and pressing the green button...

Well they're not all 68k milers - most are double this.

One was bought in with a duff engine primarily as a spares donor but
turned out to be far too nice to scrap so I bought another engine with
low miles from an Xm where yet another 'project' ran out of money and
enthusiasm on ebay!

Problem is now, after an attack (long story) on one of my other good'uns
(actually what I consider to be my best that wears the A6 TVA number) it
now looks like this engine will be needed in that again so there may well yet
be a nice Activa bodyshell with a rotten engine awaiting a swap with a 406
V6 or a TD even as it's sitting back of the Que in storage again - I had plans
too to fix it this holiday leave until other factors changed.

As I say, things will get shaken down soon and I'll be in a better position to
know where I stand with them all. If I'd sat and watched while they went
through with the Puggerisers getting their clutches on them I'd be very
angry - some recently have gone through ebay for no money and I fear for
their fate - that silver s1 in Gretna and the other Green s1 over in Norfolk
spring to mind and there's the s1 and s2 being offered for spares only on
ebay at the moment.

It has always been the same way with fabulous but massively undervalued
and misunderstood and even feared elderly Citroens. Only in recent years
have Cx Gti's and Xm's and further back Gs's been thrown away because
a set of new tyres or exhaust made the car uneconomic to maintain or
because they were simply perceived to be too old now and not the latest
reg letter such is the snobbery of probably 90% of drivers in the UK
- the remaining drive older Citroens!! =D>

Because nobody else could be bothered I've even had two instances where
I became the new keeper of 2 Cx GTi Turbo2's for the cost of a nice bottle
of wine as the owners were just happy to see someone that understands
and loves older Citroens keep them rather than see them scrapped. I'd
wager if you really fancied one now they're not out there as many other
weren't saved from the scrapyard...

Hmmmmm.

So. What am I bid for a '97 series 1 dark metallic blue Activa with AC and
black electric leather interior "ready" to have a TD engine fitted then!?

We'll have to see where I'm going with this in time I think!

Wouldn't it be nice once in a while if the Activa Despatchers raping the
engine out of a poor defenceless Activa offered the rolling shell for such
a 2.1 TD project rather than throw a good fully working active bodyshell
away after half heartedly selling the wheels and seats to recoup the price
they 'stole' the car on ebay for...

well take your time to think about it too. 68kmiles is impressive. I'm glad you spoke up about it though, since i would take an enthusiasts car first, and definently want my v6 going to a good home
